Chapter 147 Facade

The moment Kate understood Lei Zhen's devious plan, she was truly astonished.

There was never a dull moment when it came to Lei Zhen, especially when he was scheming something.

"Haha, I bet those corrupted nobles are losing their sanity at this very moment." Kate laughed cheerfully. She could now imagine how frightened the corrupted nobles would be.

In fact, the corrupted nobles couldn't even do anything even if they knew this was happening because this was her turf.

To try and assassinate a princess on her own turf, was akin to asking for a death sentence straightaway and admitting your guilt.

"You finally got the gist of my action." Lei Zhen said in relief and sat back down. "You'll need to learn about these tactics in the future. Although it's deceiving the enemies, it's always effective against those who are guilty."

Kate nodded her head.

She clenched her fist and held a determined look on her face, "I'll definitely try my best, Chancellor."

"Anyway, are you willing to disclose your name now, black mage?" Lei Zhen turned his attention toward the resentful black mage.

He purposely revealed his plan in front of her so that she would know she no longer had a path of retreat.

In fact, even if he released her now, those that supported her behind the scene would now be the very ones to take her life.

"You are even more immoral than black mages!" The black mage hissed coldly, clearly feeling disgusted by Lei Zhen's conduct.

"I might be immoral, but at least I don't commit crimes like you people." Lei Zhen sneered coldly.

"And don't think you're going to get a lenient sentence if you refuse to cooperate with us. I'll have you know, the crime you committed is enough for a death sentence." He added.

"Hmph, kill me then."

"Sure, and I'll make sure to grab all of your research once you went to hell to drink some Meng Po soup."

"What the hell is Meng Po soup?"

"A soup from the Chinese Mythology that would make you forget everything when you're passing through the bridge of Forgetfulness." Lei Zhen calmly explained.

And he continued, "Once you drink the Meng Po soup, you wouldn't even be able to remember who I am, so you can't become a ghost to haunt me. Hahahaha."

He had read different types of mythology in his free time, so he couldn't be bothered if these people didn't know about it given that it's pretty old and uncommon nowadays.

Although the black mage didn't know about Chinese Mythology, she could tell Lei Zhen was teasing her again and insulting her as well.

Despite knowing so, the black mage decided to keep silent this time, unwilling to hear another jab from him if she was to respond.

When Lei Zhen noticed that, he smirked behind the mask. 'Heh, the black mage's intelligence doesn't seem far too high and way too reliant on her spells. If I can rope her in to assist Kate in exchange for a pardon, then it should be doable.'

Ever since he captured the black mage and realized the true mastermind behind all of these was orchestrated by the corrupted nobles within Yors Castle. Lei Zhen had decided to give the black mage a chance at redemption.

Everyone deserves a second chance and he had no right to deny that second chance for her either. So long as the black mage was genuine, then he would leave her to Kate.

By then, he would have fulfilled his Chancellor's duty and officially retired from the role.

Though he would still be affiliated with Yors Castle considering his guild's main headquarter would be based here.

"I believe it's time to summon George over here now." Lei Zhen suddenly said. By summoning George, those who are spying from the outside for the corrupted nobles would panic.

After all, it meant that their facade of obtaining evidence was smooth and that their lifeline would soon be extinguished.

Kate nodded her head and called for a guard to enter.

"Yes, Princess Kate?" The guard asked as he went on his knees as a sign of respect.

"Go and summon George to my office as soon as possible. I don't care what he is doing, but he is to come here right away." Kate ordered in a cold and stern tone, prompting the guard to be slightly surprised.

'Did Geroge offend Princess Kate?' The guard thought to himself.

Nevertheless, he obliged the order and hurriedly left the office to summon George.

Once the guard left the office, Lei Zhen instructed Kate on what to say the moment George arrived.

"Chancellor, I know you wanted to teach me, but what if the black mage over there exposed us?" Kate asked, poting at the black mage who was merely sulking in the corner.

"She heard everything and if she decided to say nonsense in front of George, then our effort would be futile."

"That's exactly what I want." Lei Zhen chuckled softly.

"You'll need to remember this. The more clever a person was, the more they overthink things and complicate things. This meant that if the black mage tried to rebuke our talk, then George would be even more nervous because he'll think this is a trap."

"Hah, so George's intelligence would backfire on him in the end."

"Mhmm, therefore, naive people are sometimes deadlier than intelligent people simply because they don't use their brains much."

Sometime later, George arrived at the door of Kate's office with a desolate expression.

Taking a deep breath, George opened the door and instantly saw Kate and Lei Zhen chatting happily.

'The black mage is here?' George thought to himself, feeling a bit nervous on the inside now.

"Welcome Geroge, take a seat first since we're going to have a long conversation." Kate acted upon what Lei Zhen had instructed her beforehand when she saw his signal.

The stage had been set officially.
