Chapter 271 A Closer Bond

As the two of them headed outside the pit to get some lunch, Wells recounted the experience he had with the Experience Pit so far, causing a light smile to appear on Valyr's face as he reminisced about the first time he had entered an Experience Pit in his past life.

Nevertheless, he placed those thoughts at the back of his head once the two of them had arrived at a well-known family restaurant, taking note of the fact that quite a few people from the pit chose to eat at the restaurant as well. Taking their seats, they quickly ordered their respective meals before Wells continued narrating.

By the time Wells got to the part of his narration where he talked about the enemy he had chosen to go up against, as well as the level disparity between the two, he had the entirety of Valyr's attention as the latter attentively listened. Though, after he was finished listening, a light frown crept up on his face as he gave Wells advice.

"Once we return to our respective rooms, increase the number of monsters you're fighting at once to five," Valyr said, prompting a curious expression to appear on the face of the man in front of him as he asked him why.

In response, Valyr explained that five was the sweet spot for maximizing the amount of XP one could get from the pit, making sure that most, if not all of time spent in the pit was spent on killing monsters and not waiting for them to spawn.

Of course, he also told Wells that if he were to follow his advice and fight against five monsters at once every wave, the latter should reduce the level disparity between the two sides by a considerable margin, which would reduce the amount of XP he got per monster, but would increase his overall gain in the long run.

Once Valyr was finished giving advice to Wells, a light frown adorned the latter's face as he seriously considered Valyr's advice. Fortunately, just as the meals they ordered were served to them, the frown on Wells' face had disappeared, nodding as he told Valyr that he'll experiment later.

Listening to Wells' words as he dug into his meal, Valyr inwardly nodded in agreement. Though five monsters at once was the sweet spot for most players in his past life, with many of the top players still following it even though they were already very high-leveled, there were still exceptions, with some finding their sweet spot at a lower number, while some found it at a higher one.

'Then again, those who could comfortably kill more than five monsters at once have Ancient classes at the very least.' Inwardly shrugging his shoulders, Valyr went ahead and continued digging into his meal, savoring every bite with a smile on his face. Surprisingly, Wells was in the same situation, a grin adorning his face as he continued funneling in food into his mouth.

Eventually, the two of them were finished with their meals, deciding to stay in the restaurant for the meantime to let their bodies digest the food they just ate, as well as to pass the time before they had to go back to the Experience Pit.

While they chatted about random topics, such as how effective the Spear Scholar class was and what type of things they were going to do once they were at the kingdom, a certain thought eventually popped up in Valyr's mind as he looked at Wells with a calm expression.

"I just remembered something." Hearing these words, Wells raised his eyebrow in curiosity, only for a look of understanding to flash upon his face once Valyr continued. "Could you tell Magis to come to the smithy early in the morning tomorrow?"

Already privy to the reason behind Valyr's words, Wells nodded in response as he brought up a screen before him, interacting with it for a while after that. Sometime later, he closed the screen in front of him as he gave Valyr a light nod, which prompted the latter to nod back in response as the two got up from their seats and made their way back to the Experience Pits.

After paying for their respective meals, of course.

Once back at the building that housed the Experience Pits, they were swiftly greeted by the sight of quite a few people making their way back to the rooms they had reserved, with both Wells and Valyr following suit once they had reached their respective rooms.

Telling one another that they'd see each other later, the two of them then entered their rooms, with Valyr hastily making his way to the pit once he noticed that all of the staff assigned to his room were already there. Giving them the green light to continue sending waves of Level 30 spiders at him, Valyr continued the grind for XP once more, eventually finding his earlier rhythm around a few minutes into the session.

However, unlike earlier, the rhythm at which he killed the spiders was considerably faster than before, prompting Valyr to think that the mandatory one hour break everyone had to take was there for a reason. Deciding to make use of this slightly hastened rhythm, he soon told the staff above the pit to increase the number of monsters he fought against to six at a time, wanting to see if he could handle fighting against six Level 30 spiders at once.

Surprisingly, during the first few waves with the new configuration, Valyr was able to remain victorious, keeping up a rhythm that allowed him to kill all six spiders just as the new batch had appeared. Though, by the time he had gone through 20 waves with the new configuration, the rhythm he had earlier eventually returned to its normal speed, prompting him to order the staff to return the configuration to how it previously was.

Taking a quick break to replenish the great amount of stamina he had lost, he took a look at the connection between him and his spear, feeling that it was only a matter of time before something about their connection would change. Downing a couple stamina potions to return him to peak condition, he submitted himself to the pit once more, fighting against more waves of spiders until eventually…
