Chapter 863 Four Pillars: Veridical Oath
If Valyr were to count the number of times he had been left at an utter loss for words in his current life, most of them would have been caused by the man beside him.
He had already gotten over the fact that he would be the one inheriting Vaughn's position as owner of the Four Pillars' Inheritance.
After all, the man had given him a lot of good reasons as to why he would be chosen.
'I guess him knowing that I'm a reincarnator is included in those list of reasons,' thought the young man to himself.
Aside from that, he had already come to terms with the fact that he had been viewing the memory of the ancestor of the Zeihardt clan all this time.
In a way, it could be said that it was his fault that he had not caught what was going on ever since he accessed that one memory from the First Forger.
Then again, he had all right to be skeptical of that since there were still many things that were left unanswered in those memories of the man.
Yet, the man beside him was now telling him that he was none other than the First Forger in those memories he viewed?
For some time, the young man's mouth was fully open as he looked at Vaughn beside him with a myriad number of emotions going through his head. Fôll0w current novÊls on n/o/(v)/3l/b((in).(co/m)
It was only a few minutes after the man dropped those words was Valyr finally able to close his mouth.
However, that did not diminish the amount of shock and disbelief he felt from the confession, taking a bit more time after that to sort things out in his mind.
"Haah..." Taking in a few deep breaths to compose himself, the young man let out a long exhale before looking at Vaughn with a calm expression.
"So... you're telling me... that you're the First Forger?"
"Correct." Vaughn nodded in response.
"You're... the ancestor of the Zeihardt clan?"
"I am," replied Vaughn with a nod, the delight he felt from the situation earlier now replaced with seriousness. "What would I gain from lying to you, anyway?"
"Nothing, but that doesn't mean the words coming out of your mouth are the truth," said Valyr, the anger in his body continuing to boil within him. "Perhaps, everything else you've told me so far are lies as well."
"Once again, I wouldn't gain anything from lying to you." Vaughn shook his head with a sigh, understanding that it was partly his fault that the situation had escalated to this point.
But if he were to mention to Valyr from the get-go that he was the First Forger and that he was planning to give his current position to him without any background information, would the young man even believe him?
Seeing as the situation would most likely end up with Valyr screaming at him, Vaughn closed his eyes for a bit as he radiated the entirety of the aura contained within his current body.
"Under the witness of the omnipotent and omniscient mana, as well as the everlasting and indefatigable truths of the universe, I, Vaughn Darkstar, hereby declare that all of the information I've given Valyr Zeihardt have been nothing but the exact truth."
"If any of the statements and words I have given Valyr Zeihardt throughout our various meetings have any falsehood or deception within them, may the heavens strike down its punishment at me right this very moment."
Whoosh!
As Vaughn finished his words, the sky above them began to rumble for a bit, forming a few clouds that seemingly threatened the existence of the Gates of Transcendence.
Yet, in the end, all of those clouds dispersed as the skies swiftly turned back to normal.
"..." Watching the dark skies clear up before his very eyes, it took a while for Valyr to compose himself, immediately understanding what Vaughn had just done.
With that, all of the anger that was brewing within earlier had disappeared, instead being replaced with both confusion and curiosity towards the man that was Vaughn Darkstar.
"Did you just..." Valyr asked the man after a long silence.
"Veridical oath," replied Vaughn with a nod, only to give a faint smile not long after. "Just to make it more than certain that I'm not lying."
"In any case..."
"Are you finally willing to listen to what I have to say?"
