Chapter 878 Four Pillars: Full Circle (7)
Hearing those words come out of Vaughn's mouth, Valyr looked at the man with a hint of disbelief as a couple thoughts surfaced in his mind.
"Wait, but aren't the ones usually called Heralds nowadays come from...?"
"The Zeihardt clan, yes." Looking back at Valyr, Vaughn nodded in response.
"As you can see, my blood has given those humans made through Operation Hope a greater level of strength. For the Heralds, the reason why they have greater strength is because they have a greater amount of my blood in their system."
"With that, as the founder of the Zeihardt clan, more of my blood flows through the descendants, which leads to every member of the Zeihardt clan boasting a greater level of strength than the common populace."
"Every once in a while, a member of the Zeihardt clan would inherit a far greater portion of my blood, far more than the Heralds that I've made."
"With the system, not only do they have the strength to rule the continent, but they also have the strength to change the winds of the continent as they saw fit."
"So, I ended up using the same term to describe them," said the man with a faint shrug.
"Wait a second..." Though he made sure to commit all of the information Vaughn was telling him to memory, it took a while for the young man to process everything.
At the same time, a couple of memories from the past surfaced in his mind, prompting him to ask them to the man beside him.
"I get why they're called Heralds," said Valyr after he had processed the words the man told him. "Even a book on the Zeihardt clan I read from a kingdom's archive tells what you told me on how Heralds came to be."
"However, there's one thing I want to verify."
Rummaging through his treasure trove of memories, Valyr then told Vaughn about his meeting with the current Imperial Alchemist of the Meltierre Empire before he entered the Four Pillars' Inheritance.
Through that, he mentioned how the Imperial Alchemist talked about a couple of prophecies that the founder of the Zeihardt clan had made, looking at Vaughn directly in the eyes as he uttered the prophecy.
Continuing where he and Vaughn left off on the memory, the two watched as Vaughn from the past looked at the new generation of humans he'd created with a satisfied smile on his face.
Feeling the strength flowing through their veins, especially those that had been designated as Heralds, Vaughn left the laboratory with the new generation of humans in tow as he decided to wreak havoc on the three races one last time.
Though, unlike the previous times he'd tormented the three races, he also made sure to rescue the humans he'd created through Project Rebirth, which had unsurprisingly ballooned into the tens of millions ever since he created them.
Returning them under his banner, Vaughn gave humanity the leeway it needed once more to prosper, tormenting the other races as the Deity of Ruin while he let the three types of humans he created to mingle with one another.
Though it took some time to get the ball rolling with most of the humans having lived a life of hardship, by the time a decade had passed since their rescue, the humans had quickly adapted to their new conditions as they pursued greater power.
With that, they breezed through the early ages of technology in a matter of decades, arriving at the medieval ages of technology in just a matter of centuries.
By the time a couple thousand years had passed, they had arrived at the First Industrial Revolution, allowing human society to slowly transition into the modern era.
All in all, Vaughn had afforded them a total of ten thousand years once more to flourish under the new Veldanyr.
However, unlike the new humans in the past that stopped at the Machine Age, the humans this time around were able to get themselves to somewhere near the Digital Age, having access to wondrous machines that could thousands of computations for them.
With that, after Vaughn had decided to leave the humans to fend for themselves once more, the humans had put up an even greater fight, with their defense now lasting for decades than just a few years.
From the nuclear bombs they'd figured out during their Atomic Age, to the stealth planes they'd figured out during their Jet Age, the humans were a force to be reckoned with, especially with a great number of them having greater physical prowess compared to be.
Sadly, they were still no match to the orcs, elves, and werebeasts, whose unique qualities transcended even the wildest of human imagination.
And thus, a period of peace ended once more, bringing humanity back to the Age of Darkness from ten thousand years ago.
But unlike before...
Vaughn had now joined them.
