Chapter 888 Four Pillars: The Final Rewards (5)

At the very moment Vaughn began to introduce Valyr to his next reward, a faint hint of expectation appeared in the latter's eyes, wondering if it would be as amazing as the other rewards he'd obtained so far.

However, after seeing the man turn a normal-looking log into a wooden talisman before his very eyes, as well as give him a heads-up that the reward might seem lacking beforehand, that expectation instantly disappeared.

'A talisman that would allow me to request his help wherever and whenever,' thought Valyr to himself, faintly nodding as he had an idea of why Vaughn was giving him something like that.

In his mind, the reason why Vaughn had given him something like that was so that he could basically escape whenever he got into an emergency or an incredibly dire situation.

Then again, no matter how useful an item like that was to him in his current state, the talisman was ultimately just him borrowing the power of another person as help.

With that, the young man decided to just accept the talisman as is, nodding as he glanced at the talisman for a bit before looking back at Vaughn.

Seeing that the talisman was now in the young man's hands, Vaughn went ahead and gave the former instructions on how to use it. "If you ever want to use the talisman, just infuse a bit of your energy into it, and I'll come to where you are as soon as possible."

"Though, if you were to use it in another plane or an isolated space like the Four Pillars' Inheritance, it would take me longer to arrive to where you are," said the man with a faint shrug. "However, that doesn't mean I wouldn't be able to communicate with you."

Nodding as he committed the information Vaughn was giving him to memory, Valyr stared at the talisman once more, this time with less disappointment in his mind.

'Now that I look at it, for something that's hastily-made, it still shows a high level of craftsmanship.'

If Valyr had not seen Vaughn pull out a normal log out of thin air and use his own energy on it to create the talisman, the young man would have believed that the man took quite some time to forge the talisman.

Then again, even if he had seen the process firsthand, that did not stop Valyr from admiring the various features of the talisman, sensing the years of experience that had gone into making something like this.

'I guess spending life on Veldanyr for over 200,000 years wasn't all nothing,' thought the young man to himself with a slight chuckle. 'Empowered with the abilities of a Greater God, I guess making something like this is normal.'

As he thought about how Vaughn had made use of his current strength to make the talisman, Valyr felt as if a light bulb had gone off in his mind.

Continuing to admire the talisman, a look of realization appeared on his face as he began to ask Vaughn more about its limitations.

"If I were to contact you through this talisman, who would come? This memory extension, or the true body?"

"The true body," replied Vaughn. "This memory extension wouldn't really be of much help. Though it exudes a fraction of my true strength, its power is below the average for Myth-level beings."

Nodding in response, Valyr continued with his questions. "How many times can I request for your help? Can I request for your help as many times as I need?"

Hearing the young man's question, a look of understanding flashed in Vaughn's eyes as he raised five of his fingers, only to put down two of them soon after. "Three times. You can only request for my help a total of three times."

"Though I've given you that talisman as a way for you to escape extremely dangerous situations, I don't want you to end up relying on it every time," he continued.

"Heh." Letting out a bit of laughter, he gave the young man a knowing smile as he crossed his arms. "You looked a bit disappointed earlier when you first got this talisman. I presume you've found another use for it, then?"

In response, Valyr merely nodded. "Yep."

"And would it perhaps involve the war between the humans and the orcs?"

"Yep." Valyr nodded once more, this time with a grin on his face.

"As expected." Seeing the young man grin, Vaughn wryly smiled before sighing.

"Imagine the otherworldly species you'd have once you reach the end of Unsealing." Vaughn grinned at the thought.

"Did you take the path of Unsealing as well?" asked Valyr in response, somewhat surprised that the man knew a lot about it.

"Stopped at the 6th Unsealing," replied Vaughn, explaining that it was more practical to him. "Thanks to the Records, I was able to become a Primordial Human."

"I see." Valyr nodded at that. "How far did you get through the Records?"

"The 6th Stage," said Vaughn with a faint smile. "I tried aiming higher to see if there was a higher tier beyond a Primordial Human, but I guess the heavens didn't want someone ascending to the Divine level to get that."

"In any case, every three stages would allow you to improve your species by an intermediary tier," added the man at the end as a summary.

"If you ever reach the 10th stage, you'd ascend another intermediary tier, making the Records ascend you through two full species tiers if you were to complete it."

"Got it." Having gone through all of the rewards Vaughn had given him so far, Valyr felt as if his horizons towards strength was greatly broadened.

With the rewards now in his possession, he was confident that it wouldn't take long for him to transcend the normal boundaries of power, possibly allowing him to fight Myths far before even reaching Rank 5.

Though, just as Valyr thought that they'd move onto Concept Impartation, Vaughn uttered something that caught the young man somewhat off guard.

"With that, let's move onto our final reward."

"Wait a second... haven't you given me six rewards already?" Closing his eyes for a bit, Valyr soon looked at Vaughn with slight confusion.

"No...?" Vaughn shook his head after thinking over it for a bit. "The Concept Impartation, the talisman, and then three skills. That's five rewards, no?"

"Does you upgrading my Outer Realm Scripture not count as a reward?" asked Valyr in response, prompting Vaughn to let out a bit of laughter.

"Sure, it would have taken you longer if you were to do it, but I don't consider that a reward," replied the man as he brought out a screen in front of him.

"Now, shall we continue with your final reward?"

Whoosh!

As those words left the man's mouth, a screen soon appeared in front of Valyr's face, prompting him to read through its contents.

Though, at the very moment he did, he looked at Vaughn, who merely looked back at him with a grin on his face.

"As I've already left Veldanyr a long time ago, I've decided to leave this thing for others to claim."

"Yet, even after the tens of thousands of years that passed since my departure, no one has grown skilled enough to claim it."

"With that, as the only Anomaly of the Zeihardt clan, as well as the sole inheritor of the Darkstar lineage..."

"Would you like to inherit my old class?"

Ding!

[Vaughn Darkstar has offered to give you, Valyr Zeihardt, the Ancient grade class 'The First Blacksmith'.]

[Would you like to accept?]
