Chapter 893 Four Pillars: Ownership
Nodding in response, the young man asked, "Do I have to do anything in preparation?"
"Nope." Vaughn shook his head at the question. "I'll be doing all of the work on the transfer."
Recalling the slight mishap that happened at the beginning of his Concept Impartation, the young man decided to ask a couple more questions for safety. "Are there things I need to keep in mind? A warning of some sorts, perhaps?"
"None whatsoever," replied the man once more, getting an idea of what was going on in the young man's head. "Unlike the incident with the Crystallized Nomological Shards, there's no need for me to rein or suppress anything."
Smiling in response as if he had been caught, the young man nodded back at Vaughn, allowing the latter to do what he needed to do for the transfer to happen.
Whoosh!
At the very moment Valyr gave Vaughn free reign over what came next, the man radiated a great amount of his own energy throughout the Gates of Transcendence, causing the entire space to rumble for a bit.
Though, not long after, the rumble subsided as the sensation was soon replaced by a resonance forming between the man's energy and the space itself.
"As the owner of the Four Pillars' Inheritance, I, Vaughn Darkstar, shall now enact my will."
Taking in a deep breath, Vaughn looked at Valyr as he slowly manipulated the energies he released towards the young man.
"From this day forth, I step down from my current position as the owner of the Four Pillars' Inheritance."
"Instead, my descendant, Valyr Zeihardt, shall now take my place, becoming the supervisor and the guiding light for the many generations to come that would enter the Four Pillars' Inheritance."
Swoosh!
At those words, the energy Vaughn was manipulating soon began to revolve around Valyr on their own, causing the young man to feel like the space was beginning to resonate with him.
Taking note of the resonance that was forming, a faint smile crept up on the edges of Vaughn's lips as he continued. "With the heavens as my witness, with the omniscient and omnipotent mana as my witness, may my descendant use the Four Pillars' Inheritance wisely and lead humanity towards a greater path."
Fwoosh!
Just as Vaughn finished saying those words, the energy that was circling around Valyr soon turned into a maelstrom of intangible flames, reflecting the power that the entire inheritance seemingly contained.
Then, these flames began to shrink on their own, soon turning into a crown of sorts that eventually found their way on top of the young man's head.
At the very moment the crown of flames made contact with Valyr's head, a deluge of information soon filled his mind, giving the young man detailed information on the entire inheritance.
At the same time, a list of statements surfaced on the young man's mind, subconsciously giving him the feeling that Vaughn's position would only be completely transferred to him if he were to say it.
And so, he did.
"As the one inheriting the position of the Four Pillars' Inheritance's owner, I, Valyr Zeihardt, shall do my utmost to manage the inheritance to the best of my abilities."
"According to the will of the one that came before me, I shall also make use of the Four Pillars' Inheritance to lead humanity towards a greater path, a path that would allow the Four Pillars' Inheritance's advantages to come to prominence."
[You have chosen to set the ratio of time between the Four Pillars' Inheritance and Veldanyr to 3:1.]
[50% of your maximum mana pool shall be consumed every minute. Would you like to proceed?]
"Nope." Reading the second notification he'd obtained, the young man immediately had a panicked look on his face as he declined the prompt.
"And that's why I don't use the option," said Vaughn after seeing the young man's abrupt shift in expression.
Continuing to adorn the bitter smile, he added, "With my current strength, I could set the ratio to where months could pass here while only a day would pass outside."
"But as you can see, that would consume a ton of my energy every second."
"I could substitute mana crystals instead and have the inheritance use that instead," said the man, only to shake his head soon after. "But who knows how many mana crystals I'd burn through."
"So, you had the dilation go the other way around then?" asked Valyr in response, to which Vaughn nodded back.
"Rather than take energy from me, it instead takes it from Veldanyr itself," replied the man. "Though, oddly enough, the current dilation causes the appearance of the inheritance's entrance for others to take longer than usual."
"It should take less time to appear considering logic, but that doesn't seem to be the case."
Seeing Vaughn cross his arms at the thought, Valyr returned his attention to the notifications, soon finding one that corresponded to the time needed for the inheritance to open its gates once more.
Taking note that the entrance would open again over nine years from now, the young man made a mental note to experiment with the inheritance some other time, briefly thinking about the war that was still escalating in the outside world.
Seeing as he had now truly claimed everything that the inheritance had to offer, Valyr thought about bidding farewell to Vaughn, asking him for his current whereabouts, as well as other miscellaneous things about the inheritance that he needed to keep in mind.
Though, just as he was about to do so...
Ding!
[The Pill of Great Fortuitous Encounters has taken effect.]
[Having met the right conditions, the special fortuitous encounter shall finally reveal itself!]
Whoosh!
Out of nowhere, a rift opened in front of the young man, prompting both men to look at it in surprise.
Tilting his head in slight confusion at the sight, Valyr only felt even more confusion once the rift spat a shard that he was incredibly familiar with.
"How in the..." Staring at the shard, Vaughn looked at Valyr with confusion written all over his face.
"Are my eyes deceiving me? Where the hell did this Shard of Defiance come from?"
"..."
Valyr could only remain silent in response.
