Chapter 1050: Exceeding Expectations
Remaining silent, Valyr watched in silence as Mystia went through a number of emotions in the span of a second.
Then, letting out a low sigh, she looked back at the young man before asking, "I suppose you asked this question because you noticed that part on the skill's description?"
Though he was briefly caught off guard by the question Mystia asked him, the young man eventually nodded in response, thinking that it was only natural for her to know what was going on.
Especially if it had something to do with Mystic Energy.
With that, Valyr briefly went over the description of the new skill he'd obtained once more in his mind, wanting to make sure that he read its description correctly.
Ding!
[Basic True Mystic Energy Manipulation] (Level 1/10)
Rarity: Common+
Most of the description has been omitted.
This skill allows the user to freely manipulate Mystic Energy according to their intentions, bringing their thoughts into reality.
The strength of the manifestation through Mystic Energy is dependent on the user's maximum Mystic Energy capacity, while the limit of what is possible with the manifestation is dependent on the user's creativity.
Note that utilizing Mystic Energy with the intent of attacking shall instead default to the intent of defending.
Cooldown: None
Cost: Dependent on purity of Mystic Energy, as well as size and power of manifestation
Having refreshed his mind that the new skill did indeed mention the purity of Mystic Energy, Valyr briefly thought about what kind of effects a more purified Mystic Energy would give him aside from reduced cost.
Though, before he let his thoughts become even more astray, the young man returned his attention to Mystia, who was seemingly waiting for him to respond.
"So... have you tried it before?"
"It would be weirder if I didn't," said Mystia in response to Valyr's question, sighing once more as she bitterly smiled. "I'm sure you could guess what happened from my expression alone."
"You failed?" asked Valyr back after a bit of contemplation, to which she responded back with a nod.
"Well, to be more exact, I was partly successful," Mystia clarified to him. "I was able to refine the Mystic Energy in my body to my extent, but from what it feels like, I'm still a ways off from actually refining it as a whole."
"Call it a half-step purification of sorts." The woman wryly smiled at her own words. "In any case, I think I'm the first to ever purify Mystic Energy in the history of the plane's existence."
"Really?" Raising his eyebrow in curiosity, Valyr shifted his gaze towards Marcus, who was already expecting to be asked that question in the first place.
"The Saintesses that helped me in the past have also tried to purify Mystic Energy like Mystia," said Marcus as the gears in his mind continued to turn. "As far as I can recall, it was some time after they discovered the ideal way to manipulate Mystic Energy... basically what Mystia taught you earlier."
After that, Marcus let out a sigh of his own. "In the end, none of them were successful in purifying Mystic Energy at all, with the first Saintess even calling it a fruitless endeavor no other Saintess should attempt to pursue."
"The Saintess that came before Mystia made a bit of leeway in going against the first Saintess' words, refining a faint bit of her own Mystic Energy," continued the man.
"On the other hand, Mystia singlehandedly made progress in the endeavor where the attempt at purification now makes a substantial difference."
'So, that's why the sphere was gradually becoming brighter, even though there were no impurities forming yet,' thought the young man to himself with excitement.
'The Mystic Energy is actually removing the impurities on its own.'
'Hahaha... I guess the method really is universal.' With concrete proof that there was nothing
wrong with the method Sellifer gave him, Valyr went ahead and helped the Mystic Energy remove the impurities that were surfacing every once in a while.
Throwing all of the impurities that weren't removed by the energy itself into the void, the young man watched as the iridescent light Mystic Energy grew brighter and brighter the more
time passed.
Eventually, by the time he felt like an entire day had passed within the void, the Mystic Energy
finally began to glisten like a pearl, with the system giving him notifications not long after
that confirmed the success of his endeavors.
Ding!
[You have removed all of the impurities in your Mystic Energy.]
[All Mystic Energy you shall control from now on is bereft of any impurities whatsoever,
improving its efficacy and power.]
[The grade of your Mystic Energy Vessel has improved to Pure.]
Whoosh! Briefly reading through the notifications he received from the system, a wide smile appeared
on Valyr's face as he returned his senses back to reality.
Unsurprisingly, both Marcus and Mystia were looking at him in disbelief the moment he
began to look at his surroundings.
"Did you..." Noticing that the young man had returned his senses to reality, Mystia took the initiative to ask him the question that was plaguing both of their minds. "Did you just...?"
"Purify Mystic Energy?" Feeling amusement at their reactions, Valyr let out a slight chuckle
before releasing a bit of his own Mystic Energy. "I did."
Swoosh!
At the moment he responded to Mystia's question, a wisp of pure Mystic Energy soon appeared atop Valyr's palm, revealing a white flame that gave off a faint iridescent glow to the two.
Feeling that the wisp of energy before them was none other than the Mystic Energy they've become acquainted with, both Mystia and Marcus briefly looked at each other in excitement before returning their gaze towards Valyr.
"Is it... is it okay if you teach us how to purify Mystic Energy?" asked Mystia after a bit of deliberation, feeling a hint of embarrassment at the thought that the position of master and disciple had now been swapped.
Fortunately for her, Valyr did not mind any of that at all, only continuing to smile as he
nodded back in response.
"It would be my pleasure."
