Chapter 1069: New Objectives, New Rewards

Pausing in his steps, Valyr moved to the side of the street as he looked at the notifications he received in slight confusion.

'The quest updated itself?' inwardly muttered the young man to himself, finding the system's actions somewhat odd.

As far as he could recall in his past life, there were only two types of quests that prompted the system to change its objectives and rewards depending on the circumstances.

Naturally, those two types were none other than main quests and world quests, considering the difficulty of the quests themselves, as well as the scope they covered in terms of their effects.

Of course, with how expansive Greater Beyond was, those two types were merely the start, with other types becoming available once players began to leave their starter planets.

Nevertheless, that did not resolve the confusion Valyr felt over the system's actions, seeing as his special quest wasn't classified as either of the two types.

'I did see in the forums back then that there were players whose special quests changed all of a sudden due to circumstances, but those were mostly due to events covering galaxies,' thought the young man to himself.

Pushing the notifications aside for the meantime, the young man continued to make his way back to the inn, though his thoughts were still on the system's actions regarding his special quest.

'It's weird that the quest changed on its own after noticing that I got a second subclass,' inwardly muttered Valyr to himself, only for a plausible thought to surface in his mind after some time.

'Is it because of the fact that the quest involves firearms?'Diiscover new stories at novelhall.com

As Valyr went along this train of thought, the more he felt that this line of reasoning was more likely.

After all, the reason why he'd gotten the quest in the first place was because he was the first person on Veldanyr to bring back the existence of firearms, a technology that the planet had lost due to its long-forgotten past.

Then again, that did not explain why the system decided to adjust the quest to his current circumstances, not seeing how the two were connected.

'...I'll just perceive it as the system giving me preferential treatment,' thought Valyr to himself in the end, getting the feeling that he'd spiral down into a rabbit hole if he were to stay on the topic any further.

Taking in a deep breath to compose himself, the young man continued walking through the streets of Algerie, faintly smiling as he thought about the long-awaited reunion between him and the other two.

While doing so, he brought up the description of the quest the system updated in his mind, wanting to see what parts of the quest were changed.

Ding!

[The First Gunslinger (Veldanyr)] (Special Quest)

Difficulty: A+

Firearms used to be... most of the description has been omitted.

Because you've rejected the opportunity before, the heavens have decided to increase the difficulty of obtaining it as a type of consequence.

But of course, the heavens are fair, with the rewards obtainable from completion being far greater than what it previously was.

However, with your strength having reached greater heights, the heavens sense that it would only be a matter of time until you complete it.

Wanting you to push the art of firearms to greater heights, the heavens have decided to increased the difficulty of the quest once more.

Naturally, the rewards have also been improved in exchange.

Quest Objectives:

'Now that I think about it, I suppose the objective only covers firearms I make, considering that Hal introduced firearms to the frontlines.' Though most of Valyr's attention was still on the quest's description, he started to walk towards the inn once more.

'Then again, it would've been nice if Hal's weapons did apply.'

Briefly shaking his head to remove errant thoughts in his mind, the young man soon focused his attention on the new rewards the quest would give him, immediately taking note of the

change to the reward involving the second subclass slot.

'Rather than give me the second subclass slot as is, it's decided to upgrade what I have instead.' Valyr nodded at the thought, recalling how Marcus told him that his current second subclass slot was limited in terms of the maximum rarity it could reach.

Though he was still a fair distance away from reaching that maximum rarity, the young man appreciated the fact that the system was giving him a way to fix it in advance. Moving his attention away from the second subclass slot reward, Valyr raised his eyebrow in curiosity after seeing that the subclass had been changed entirely.

'The First Gunslinger...' Recalling that he would've obtained the Prototype Gunner subclass before the change, Valyr decided to take a look at what made the current subclass differ from

the previous one he was getting.

Similar to Prototype Gunner, the First Gunslinger subclass was a subclass that felt more like a bare-bones version of the gunner subclasses he'd experienced in the past.

However, unlike Prototype Gunner, the subclass had all of the essential skills necessary to

bring firearms to the next level, similar to how his First Blacksmith class brought his

blacksmithing abilities to a higher realm.

Other than that, the First Gunslinger subclass had a higher rarity limit compared to Prototype

Gunner, giving it the ability to reach Ancient grade as long as he completed all of the prerequisite quests needed to upgrade the class.

In comparison, the Prototype Gunner subclass could only go up to Legendary grade, though the system did mention that it was possible to push it closer to Mythic grade with enough

effort.

Moving his attention away from the subclass, Valyr briefly glanced at the two title upgrades he would get from the quest, finding the two to be an overall positive.

After all, from the looks of it, the first title upgrade would increase the stat gain efficacy of his second subclass even further.

On the other hand, the second title upgrade would increase the damage he dealt with his firearms, allowing him to transform them into weapons of even greater destruction as long as

he wielded them.

'With that being said, I'm quite curious as to what this last title does.' By the time Valyr's attention was on the final line of rewards, the young man had already arrived at the inn he and

the other two were staying in.

Making his way to the room they were in, the young man thought about the new title in detail, pondering over its possible effects.

'[The Originator of Firearms]... Would it increase the damage I deal with firearms even

further?'

'Would it allow me to craft advanced firearms at a reduced difficulty?'

'Or would it allow me to wield high-level firearms at no penalty?' Allowing the thoughts in his mind to wander about for a bit longer, the young man slowly began to smile as he arrived at the room he and the others had been staying at. Wondering what kind of changes the three of them had exactly gone through while they'd been separated from one another, Valyr went ahead and opened the door, immediately being greeted by a pair of familiar people looking at him with surprise.
