1080 The War Forge Assembly (6)
As those words left Valyr's mouth, a few of the directors began to frown in response, finding his words incredibly arrogant.
As far as many of them knew, the ranged weapon Vylhalteinn created was made with the knowledge he'd gained from the inheritance he entered, distributing it among those in the frontlines in the hopes that it would turn the tides of war in their favor.
At first, many of the directors of the Blacksmith Guild found Vylhalteinn's weapon a crude mimicry of what true blacksmiths were able to achieve, a mockery of the hard work they'd put into their craft.
Yet, once they had the opportunity to examine the weapon in detail and test it out, they soon understood the ingenuity behind the weapon Vylhalteinn had shown them, realizing that its simplicity was deceptive.
Aside from that, they also realized that the weapon was relying with concepts that were a bit beyond what their current Technology Trees had reached, causing some of them to wonder what other knowledge Vylhalteinn had gained from the inheritance.
Considering the effort and the knowledge needed to even create the weapon Vylhalteinn made in the first place, it was no surprise that many of the directors quickly doubted the young man's words.
Of course, Valyr eventually realized this as well, bitterly smiling as he thought about how he'd be able to salvage this situation.
'To be honest, I should've expected them to be doubtful of my words from the get-go. After all, all of them don't really know what happened in the Four Pillars' Inheritance,' thought the young man to himself, taking in a deep breath as he looked at the current situation from a rational perspective.
'Aside from that, Hal left the inheritance far earlier than me. With a bit of common sense, it's no surprise that more people are inclined to believe that he was the one who invented the arquebus... even though he really didn't.'
'I think I believed in the directors a bit too much after how smoothly Julian's proposal went,' inwardly muttered Valyr to himself, reminding himself that this was his first time meeting most of the directors in the hall.
'In any case, I have to make them believe in my words somehow.'
As these words lingered in his mind, the young man inwardly let out a faint sigh, gaining newfound respect towards Julian's tenacity in making sure his proposal was accepted.
At the same time, the gears in his mind began turning, slowly coming up with a plan to start shifting things back in his favor.
Sending a message to Hal about the current situation, Valyr split part of his attention back to the audience as he continued where he left off. "Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if the directors are doubtful of my words."
"How can we be so sure that this current situation isn't all an act?" asked one of the more doubtful directors within the assembly, to which many responded back with sounds of agreement.
Ding!
Getting a notification from the system just as that question was thrown out, Valyr went ahead and took a look at it, only for him to let out a faint chuckle once he was done.
Shifting his gaze towards the one that just spoke, the young man had a confident smile on his face as he asked, "Would it be possible for you to introduce yourself before I answer your question?"
Thankfully, the man that spoke up did not mind, nodding as he opened his mouth. "Altem Vilnas, director of the Charlton Kingdom Blacksmith Guild."
"Director Altem." Valyr nodded back in thanks. "You mentioned that there's the possibility for the current situation to all be an act. Could you perhaps give us an idea as to how we could prove that?"
Feeling the attention of all the other directors now on him because of that, the man surprisingly backpedaled as he replied in a slight stammer, "Don't get me wrong. You've already shown sufficient proof to remove most of the doubts behind your claim."
"However, it would be great if there was more proof."
"More proof, huh?" Valyr chuckled in amusement as he soon dropped a statement that made some of the directors doubt their hearing.
"Would Vylhalteinn appearing in this meeting be enough proof for you, then?"
