Chapter 1241 A Small Incentive
"...How much are we talking?" asked Thomas in a hushed tone in response, his interest and curiosity more than piqued.
After all, even though the work he was doing wasn't all that labor-intensive, his salary was only enough to pay for the bills and fulfill the most basic of essentials. If he wanted to buy something for himself, he'd first have to cut costs elsewhere.
Though, the only area he could costs to do so would be in his foodstuffs.
Because of that, Thomas was more than eager to find other methods of earning money on the side, which made him a bit more inclined than before to accept Valyr's request.
"Even if we only earn like 5 Delta from that, that's more than enough for me to be on board," said Thomas after seeing Valyr continue to remain silent.
Although 5 Delta was just enough money for one person to not worry about eating three meals a day, Thomas already knew that VRMMORPGs were quite notorious when it came to their money-earning methods, needing one to earn tons of coins before one could exchange it for actual currency.
With that in mind, he had a feeling that the difficulty of earning actual money from Greater Beyond would probably be on the same level as well. After all, Valyr wouldn't have reached out to him if not for that.
Then again, among all of the people in their friend group, only Valyr was able to eke out a living from solely playing VRMMORPGs. In fact, he would even ask for their help from time to time, allowing them to earn a bit of extra money on the side.
Being one of the recipients of the young man's kindness in the past, Thomas already had an idea of how much they'd earn from it, which only made him look at Valyr with even more disbelief once he heard the words that left the young man's mouth.
"25 Delta," said Valyr with slight uncertainty, only to nod soon after as his expression became firm. "Yeah. As long as we do it right, we'd be able to earn 25 Delta."
"Are you serious?" asked Thomas after he'd gotten over the shock Valyr's words brought him. "You're really telling me we could earn 25 Delta a day from just doing this?"
...
Click.
"Let's goooooooo!!!" Softly closing the door behind him, Valyr immediately burst into great excitement as his plans of roping in Thomas had become a massive success.
"I should really thank my past self's memories this time around," said the young man to himself with a bit of laughter as he sat down on the sofa once more. "Wouldn't have thought of doing that if not for it."
Although his reincarnation into Greater Beyond gave him the ability to go through all of the memories he'd created in his past life with great clarity, Valyr still found it difficult to recall memories up to a certain point.
Thankfully, that limit had been removed the moment Adam and Eve fused him and his past self together, allowing him to recall every single thing that happened to him before Greater Beyond came out with even greater detail than before.
Of course, it was thanks to those renewed memories that he came up with a way to make the most out of the time the maintenance gave him, prompting him to contact the close friends he made in the various VRMMORPGs he played in the past.
Though it was partly because he wanted his friends to be able to live better lives now that he had a way to help them out, it was also because most of them would eventually turn out to be his closest comrades during the final battle.
Out of all of his friends, Thomas was the one he wanted to get close to the most, which was why he was more than thankful that the man had been the one to pick up his call.
In terms of his experience with the man in the VRMMOs he played in the past, Valyr knew Thomas as a guy who played them as a way to unwind after work. In fact, it was because the man played late at night that the two of them became good friends after some time.
However, unlike his current self, the future Thomas was a person that many people looked up to as their idol, a person whose reputation in Greater Beyond was more than enough to instill fear into thousands of players the moment they met him.
That was because, from what Valyr could recall, the young man would eventually become the founder and leader of the Setting Sun.
A player organization that, near the start of the final battle, would rival one of the Five Leviathans in terms of might.
