And shortly before Lulurun and Caliburn’s battle began…
All the captains of the 1st to 4th Knight Orders had gathered in the Grand Church of the Holy City of Magilia, the one located in the center of the four Witches’ territories, and the Knights of the Holy Empire as a whole were staging their subjugation operations.
Rhynes, Captain of the 1st Knight Order, was also preparing for the decisive battle.
“Captain Rhynes, is something wrong, meow?” Miris asked Rhynes, who stands there with a distant expression.
“No, nothing’s wrong, I’m like usual, the same as I always have been,” Rhynes said, touching her face to emphasize nothing’s wrong.
“We’re trying to subdue the Witch that you’ve been hunting for so long, Captain Rhynes, meow, aren’t you a little listless?” Miris asked. “You’re not even remotely motivated, meow”
“Listless?” Rhynes asked.
“Before you used to be all, I’ll definitely kill the Witch! I’m going to kill her! I’ll split her into eight!! I’ll tear her apart till there’s nothing left, meow,” Miris said.
“… I see, wait, no, I haven’t said that much,” Rhynes said.
It’s true, however, that this situation should have been her long-held wish, the best opportunity to subdue the Witch that haunted her life, a grave mission that would make this world a better place after living in such fear of the Witches…
Her swordsmanship has improved vastly than before, she doesn’t lag behind the witch-kindred, and this operation will surely be able to subdue the Witch, and now she even has magic…
She stares at the palm of her hand and Rhynes’ thoughts stop.
“I am…” Rhynes started.
“What’s wrong, meow?” Miris asked. “You’re staring at your palm.”
“Nothing, you worry too much!” Rhynes said, tapping the top of Miris’ head before she turns to lead her squadron. Miris continued to walk behind Rhynes.
“You’ve definitely started acting strange since Lulurun appeared, Captain Rhynes, isn’t the power of love amazing, meow?” Miris asked.
“Do-Don’t say something so silly!” Rhynes yelled. “People don’t just change because of their emotions!!”
“But, but,” Miris started.
She says she hasn’t changed, but Rhynes has felt she has changed the most.
She knows, she’s sure she’s changed, she can say that she’s changed everything about who she was when she met Lulurun. Rhynes couldn’t calmly accept what had changed in this short period of time.
How to deal with magic, the depths of her power, her feelings about the “Witches,” and her feelings for Yokoi Keisuke.
“Will it change, or not…?” Rhynes asked herself.
Lulurun’s face comes to her mind, the momentary flash of Yokoi Keisuke’s face in her previous world, that not all the common knowledge of this world was correct, Lulurun had taught her that, and that Rhynes is still Rhynes, but she can’t help but think back on those words of Lulurun’s.
“There may be others like me.”
If Lulurun were here, she would definitely put a stop to this subjugation operation, or she would go on ahead and try to solve it herself… but either way, Lulurun doesn’t know about this operation, Rhynes almost spilled it many times, but resisted. She knows this worry is unwarranted but she can’t help it.
“It’s okay to fall in love, but if you’re too careless, that thieving cat Syll in the dining hall may steal her, meow,” Miris said.
“Shut up before our march, Miris!” Rhyne yelled.
“You know, just a little while ago, Lulurun was talking about wanting Syll, meow,” Miris said.
“!?”
“Both of them were holding hands with serious looks, and if I hadn’t stopped it, they would have gone through, I’m sure, meow,” Miris said.
Every word bothers Rhynes.
“Stop leisurely going to the dining hall before an important operation!” Rhynes yelled. “Be more aware of your position as the Vice-Captain…”
“What’s wrong with that, meow?” Miris asked.
“I don’t suppose you’ve talked to Kei, I mean, Lulurun about this, have you?” Rhynes asked.
Miris looked away. “My mouth is shut like a beartrap, yep, a steel beartrap,” she said.
Rhynes immediately guessed it, but Miris’ words just confirms it.
“Miris!!!” Rhynes yelled.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, it was because they were asking about you, Captain Rhynes… kind of,” Miris said.
“When did you last speak to them??” Rhynes asked.
“About noon today, meow,” Miris said.
If so, Keisuke may have already gone to see the Witch.
“Captain Rhynes?” Miris asked, looking anxiously at Rhynes suddenly serious expression.
“Ah, sorry, it’s nothing,” Rhynes said.
Perhaps feeling sorry for her careless words, Miris looks at Rhynes with a sad expression.
“It’s okay, Miris, I won’t court-martial you for this, I’m sorry I yelled at you,” Rhynes said, patting Miris’ head.
She’s too worried, yes, it’s Lulurun, she’ll deal with it without any issues even if it is a Witch because the power of that magical girl is far beyond the norm.
Rhynes looks at the bracelet she received from Lulurun and tells herself that she is worrying too much.
“What the?” Rhynes asked.
She felt a strong magical power erupting from the bracelet, it’s never done anything like this since she got it from Lulurun, a powerful wave of Lulurun’s magic, was transmitted to Rhynes through it.
“Keisuke?”
What’s happening, why is the magical power getting stronger and stronger??
What they saw next confirmed Rhynes’ worries.
“Hey! What is that?” one of the soldiers yelled as the squadron starts to make noise.
“A magic circle?” Rhynes asked.
It’s a gigantic magic circle, over the Witch of the North’s territory, something is happening.
Rhynes doesn’t think it has anything to do with Lulurun’s bracelet.
“Captain Rhynes!” Cain yelled as he hurried over. “It’s the Northern Territory!”
“I know…” Rhynes said.
Something is happening, Rhynes clutches her chest and suppresses her anxiety.
“Captain Rhynes!!??” the other soldiers asked.
What do they do? Does Rhynes Lulurun call with the power of the bracelet? However, that magic circle and Lulurun were not definitely connected, whatever the case, in an uncertain situation like this, should she use magic in front of everyone? In the midst of her hesitations, Rhynes decides.
“In that case!” Rhynes said before she prepared to take off. “I leave the rest to you, Miris!! I’ll head out first!!!”
“What do you mean you’re going first, Captain Rhynes!!!!??” Miris asked. “Hyaaaa!!!!!”
Running with all her might, Rhynes set out from the city in no time.
However, even if Rhynes’ leg strength is so far beyond normal humans, it takes half a day to get to the Northern Territory by horse, it isn’t a distance you can get to in a hurry if you consider normal methods. However, a little faster, a little faster, a little faster! That thought and turmoil accelerated Rhynes.
As she stares at the magic seal on her hand, Rhynes chants the name of the spell Lulurun gave her.
“LAZARION!!”
Lightning erupts from Rhynes’ body, she puts all her strength into her feet as she storms across the ground.
Dirt flies out like it’s been exploded, Rhynes speed approaches the sound barrier.
In order to get to Keisuke as soon as possible, Rhynes draws out power beyond her limits.
“KEISUKE!!!!!!”
