CLANNNG CLANNNG CLANNNG
I had needed to kill seven Peak Sovereigns and a few hundred bandits before the real challenge came to me.
"No wonder you were able to kill so many of our people," said the purple merman. He looked humanoid enough with a tall beefy physique and has fins on his arms, legs, and behind the head.
He is also using an unusual weapon, an ax. I didn't have any pirates using it here.
"You are not bad yourself," I replied and attacked.
It had been even a minute since we had started fighting, and I was already using nearly all my strength to fight against him.
"I really wish I could kill you, but capturing you will be more profitable. There are a lot of people, who want someone of your power," he said as he defended against my attack, before launching its own.
"You have not even brought a single injury to me, but thinking of killing and capturing me,"
"Don't you think you are thinking too far ahead?" I asked as I defend against his attack.
"It is not thinking far ahead, but confidence human," he said and grinned. At that exact moment, a net appeared below me and came at me rapidly, making the grin on his face wider.
Suddenly, that grin froze as the net froze before it disappeared, to its shock.
"What did you do?" it asked in shock. "You will have to use much better tricks than that, if you even want to touch me," I taunted, but it didn't get angry and instead smiled.
"Good. You are going to be a challenge and I like conquering such challenges," he said, and a powerful aura blasted out his body and he attacked.
My expression turned serious when I saw him like the powerful attack, to the giant wave coming from behind.
Controlling the water is hard in the prime world. He would need a legacy inheritance, a bloodline, or a very powerful racial ability, and his race had that ability.
Though it is not powerful, it is powerful enough. He could borrow some power from the water.
It is quite surprising to see this kind of power usually used by Earth Sovereigns and above. It is extremely hard for a Sovereign, but he is doing that and that further reinforced my motivation to kill him.
CLANNNNG!
His ax clashed against my halberd, and I felt such a force that I shook from top to bottom and took three steps back, with the blood leaking from the corner of my mouth.
"Now, do you think whether I would be able to capture you or not?" he asked with a big grin.
Instead of being scared of his new power, a similar grin appeared on my face. "It must take quite an effort to borrow the power from the water, I like to see how long you could do it," I said and the grin on his face froze for a moment.
"Long enough to defeat you," he said and came at me hard, once against harnessing the power of the wave.
There are a lot of waves around me. There is an endless power for him to harness, but he didn't have enough energy or capacity to do it.
It is already quite amazing that he was able to do such a thing, considering. This ability is used by Earth Sovereigns.
CLANNNNG CLANNNNG CLANNNNG
He attacked me again and again, and I defended, while also keeping an eye on the surrounding battles.
We have the edge against the pirates, who will not last more than a few minutes. Seeing the state of the battles.
While Ruib and Melar are still fighting against Neptar and are in a stalemate. The result is different on the rest of the battlefield. Till now, we have killed one Earth Sovereign and hundreds of Sovereigns.
If we continued to fight, it won't take long for us to kill another Earth Sovereign and that would tilt the battle completely in our favor.
A few minutes ago, I thought, I would need to run away, but now. It will be the pirates who will run away; I just hope Ruib and Melar keep Neptar contained.
If he defeated them, then even if we have killed every Earth Sovereign of pirates, we would still lose the battle. He is powerful enough to deal with all our Earth Sovereigns.
Against them, they could only get killed one by one.
Seconds passed, and I fight against Merman. I didn't dare to get overconfident, considering I was using every bit of power I have against him, and similarly; he is also using every bit he has, including the power harnessed from the waves.n0veluSb.C0m
I am still confident I could kill him.
All I need is time to study him and wear himself out. Harnessing the power of waves gives him a huge boost, but also tires him out a lot.
At most, he will be able to do this for a minute or two and when he is finished, I will start my counterattack.
I wish I could finish him now, but he is powerful. If I tried, I would definitely fail, so it is better to wait.
Till then, I will keep defending against him and study him.
A second passed, and the battles continued to rage; more Sovereigns died and poor monsters. Most Sovereigns that died are bandits, but some are from our side too.
I am really angry at these bastards. We were making a journey, but this bastard had to come and attack us.
Lots of people had lost their lives and more will do, till the battle ends.
"Try harder! The waves have immense power, you are only harnessing a fraction," I taunted, and it glared, before pushing himself even more, harnessing more power, that sent me further.
It also injured me, but instead of disappointment, there is a smile on my face.
He is getting tired; he won't last even for a minute. I had already gathered a large data on him. The moment he stopped harnessing, I will move to kill him.
Hun!
I was thinking that, when something happened, that shocked the whole battlefield.
Ruib and Melar had killed Lirio Neptar; one moment, they were in a stalemate, and another moment, his head flying off in the air.
I have been keeping my sense of the battle, but it had happened so fast that I wasn't able to catch it at all.
From little my clones have gathered watching the footage, is that they were somehow able to restrict his movements for a fraction of seconds, which Ruib used to decapitate him.
"You are a lucky human," said the Merman in front of me and a moment later, a wave crashed into him, and he disappeared into it.
I could see him clearly and he is moving quickly in the water, I don't think I would be able to catch up to him.
I made an instant decision to not pursue him and focused on the other pirates, who have started to run away. Not a single one is staying. Even Earth Sovereigns are running away with our chasing them.
I looked around before moving to kill the pirates according to the path devised by the clone.
On this path, I will be staying away from the Earth-Sovereigns, but killing maximum numbers of Sovereigns and not just with my sword.

Lances formed around me, moving toward the pirates who ran, killing them, while my halberd did the same.
I don't like killing the natives, but these pests are of the worst kind. They not loot and kill without discrimination, but also capture people and sell them to the dark organizations.
They are worse than the Grimms and deserve to die. I will kill them, even if I didn't like it.
Hun!
I kept killing one after another before all the hair on my body stood up and I felt the danger flooding in my heart.
It took an instant to realize I was in danger; one of running Earth-Sovereigns. Fish Beastman had launched an attack at me, before escaping into the water.
The huge trident is coming toward me to reap my life and I don't think I would be able to defend against it.
Still, I didn't remain frozen and harnessed every bit of power to defend against the attack. That is now in front of me.
BANNNNG!
I was wailing for it when a green spear came out of nowhere and struck it. Destroying completely and even burning the energy, so barely a shockwave is produced.
The rescue surprised me, but I immediately turned toward the direction of my savior, who is someone I know.
"Remember your promise Mark," said Ruib and disappeared.
The promise he is talking about him and his partner to invite him for dinner again. We had dinner yesterday, and I had said, I will invite them once again before reaching Marlin.
I had planned to since they were such nice company, but now that he had saved, I planned to show all my skills.
I have already something he would like and this time, I didn't have to care about them not being able to bear it seeing their real levels.
The one thing I am planning is not easy to process and could be dangerous. If one doesn't have a high enough level.
I pushed those thoughts away and focused on the task at hand. I will think about it after I had finished the job here.
