After the call with Mary, I felt like I had been wasting my life and taking things in a way I shouldn't have. But, now that I had an official break from the office, I could play [Mayhem] with peace of mind.
I was already worried about the village chief Kai and his daughter. I suddenly held my head and started cursing in front of him, after which I most probably disappeared from his eyes.
'Let's hope he doesn't think of me as someone who betrayed his hopes.'
After bathing and making sandwiches to eat, I went to the capsule.
'I am eating sandwiches for dinner. God bless my health.'
Laying in the capsule, I logged in to [Mayhem]. Immediately afterwards, the darkness of the capsule shattered into particles, and I was standing in Kai's hut again.
Looking at the places where the wooden chairs were arranged, Kai wasn't at home. I turned around only to hear a loud cry.
"KYAAAAAAAA!!"
***
"Where did you run off last time? We thought that you were dead. It's already been nine days since you disappeared. Thank god you are still alive."
The burly Kai hugged my body which looked like a doll in his embrace. I could feel his genuine concern for me.
"Yeah, I am alive and kicking. I am a resurrector, so you shouldn't be worried about me."
I said in a muffled voice since my body hugged tightly to the grey-skinned ogre.
"What's a resurrector?"
Oh, that's right. Abyss still doesn't know about players, so they basically don't know the concept of resurrectors. So I started explaining to them that there would appear more people like me in future, and they could resurrect after dying for a small amount of penalty.
After my explanation, the ogres around me couldn't help but give in to gravity as their jaws dropped to the ground.
"Woahhh! So you're saying you aren't from this world? And can resurrect as many times as you die, just you'll lose some items and lose a few of your powers?"
I nodded my head at Kai's question, and he had an unbelievable expression on his face.
"That's so cool! When can I become like that? I want to become like Shura when I grow up!"
Kris, the son of Kylos, commented in admiration. His little ogre eyes twinkled with stars in them.
How cute!
"Leave all that aside. Why are you hugging this indecent guy, papa!"
A feminine voice shouted out loudly. I looked at the female ogre that had just shouted during my and Kai's emotional reunion.
She had the signature white hair and grey skin of the ogres, but she was clearly smaller than your average male ogre and looked a bit more human than others. Actually, all the female ogres were the size of an average male human rather than an ogre.
She had a slightly buffed body with all the necessary curves and slopes. She had an above-average bust that was covered by a piece of clothes tied around it. She had pants made out of leather that perfectly hid all the places that needed to be hidden.
'What a waste. I have already seen them without clothes, you know?'
I commented inwardly as I remembered the time I had just logged in. When I turned around, I saw Jezebeth's body in its full glory. Although she was an ogre, her body had more appeal than your average human female. Her skin colour, her perfect curves, and her bare mounds coupled with that one short horn looked otherworldly.
'Okay, enough simping.'
Ahem!
"What do you mean indecent? That's the place where I had just coincidentally logged in— err, appeared to when I landed. It's not my fault."
I said, trying to clear my name of any apparent dirt.
Jezebeth's pouty face looked cute as she replied.
"I know you didn't do it on purpose, but still. I feel… embarrassed."
"....."
What?
A girl with common sense? Is this some monster trait, or do girls like her really exist?
She actually believed it was a coincidence instead of bashing out like some senseless anime character. I suddenly felt like hugging Jezebeth.
'',
"W-wa-what are you doing?"
Before I knew it, I was already hugging the beautiful young ogre. It appears my inner demons had taken control of my body for a second.
Cough!
I coughed and immediately backed off.
"....."
"....."
After a moment of awkward silence, Kai coughed, and the tense atmosphere finally subsided.
,m "Oh yes, Kai. How many days till you have to offer Jeze to the Grivantula."
I asked, giving a nickname to Jezebeth as naturally as I breathed.
Kai ignored the sudden nickname as he replied seriously, his brows knitting together slightly.
"About a month. A month and three days, to be exact."
After thinking for a bit, I asked.
"Are there any monsters stronger than the Abyss piranhas around here?"
"Not exactly. If monsters lived around here, we wouldn't make our villages here. But 3 miles away from here starts the dark forest. It's one of the biggest and most dangerous forests of the Abyss. It's said that it stretches to the ends of the Abyss."
"It has many monsters. We can coexist with the piranhas because they can't come on land. And as long as a bunch of them don't come at once, it's manageable to hunt them. Abyss piranhas and farming are the main sources of satiating our hunger."
So that's how it is? I pondered after Jezebeth's explanation.
"So, piranhas are edible….?"
"After listening to so much, you have that question? But yeah, they are edible. I don't know about the piranhas from land, but Abyss piranhas taste really good."
Jezebeth said and looked at me weirdly.
"I didn't mean anything bad, just…. Here you go."
I emptied out all the piranhas that I had in my inventory. They were each the size of a watermelon, and there were dozens after dozens of them. Enough to create a huge pile in front of Kai and the others, who backed off slightly.
"These are the piranhas that I killed when I landed in Abyss. They were…. Annoying me a bit."
I said as my hand unconsciously reached my crotch, remembering how these despicable piranhas were trying to chew out my precious jewels.
"....."
The bunch of rowdy ogres were all silent as I could even hear the voice of the stream flowing in the far distance.
"What?"
I scoffed, looking at their faces.
"You killed them all because you were annoyed…? Nevermind that. Can we really have it? They are your hunt."
Kai asked.
"Say that without drooling, it looks really insincere. And yes, you can have them all. Just leave one for me, I want to test something."

Nice!
Although it wasn't a quest progression, it was still progressing in a way.
"Then, I won't be modest anymore. Kylos, Humbal, Porin, and everyone else. Take these and go store them in the warehouse. We'll have celebrations tonight!"
YAAAHHHH!! HURRAYYY VILLAGE CHIEF!! HURRAY SHURA!!
Everyone exclaimed loudly as the whole atmosphere got cheerful. For once, the aura of death that was surrounding them and stopping them from enjoying their life had faded, even if it was just for a while.
I went towards Jezebeth and said in a firm tone.
"Jeze, I'll try my best to level– get strong and protect you."
I said. I couldn't imagine how it must be to have your death pronounced and written in stone. Every day must have been a living hell for her.
As if she sensed my sincere feelings, she said as she shook his head.
"Look at the people right now. They are already so happy, I possibly can't ask anything more from you. I am not going to just go and get eaten by the Grivantula. I am a warrior, and I'll fight until my last breath! So you should not risk your life for me."
Jezebeth said with emotions. She had a smile while looking at the villagers, but she couldn't hide those tears threatening to fall out of her eyes.
"I just told you, I am a resurrector. I won't die even after dying, so you shouldn't worry about me. Look, what's there!"
I suddenly pointed toward her right, and when her eyes followed my fingers, I suddenly leaned forward and kissed her cheek. She immediately turned around with a hand on her cheek.
"Consider that as the advance payment for saving your life."
I laughed cheekily as I picked up one of the piranhas and ran away.
Jeze was still standing there, with her hand still rubbing her cheek and trying to figure out just why her heart was beating so much.

After seeing the skill description, I wanted to eat the piranha to see if it changed anything. Since it said it would be more effective when eating raw, I wanted to try and see the effects.
I took out Eclipse and clumsily tried to skin the piranha, getting grossed by seeing its toothy mouth every time.
After I had somewhat cleaned an area, another notification popped up in front of me.
[You have learnt the skill (Dissect Lv1)]
So that works too, huh?
After cutting a piece of its meat, I stared at it for a while.
'It looks healthy and fresh, I probably shouldn't think too much.'
It was the moment of truth! After a slight hesitation, I threw a piece of the meat in my mouth, my eyes widening just seconds later.
