Beware of the Jade Slayer

[Tai Lung's POV]

"Checkmate."

"What? How!" I asked out loud when I saw the ugly face of defeat for the third time in a row.

Here's a fun fact, chess originated in India during the early Gupta Empire. It was said to be the creation of the great Emperor of Gupta. It shows just how intelligent he would be to invent such games.

Tibet and India were neighbours so there was trade between the two Empires. This was why I was able to find this board game in the market in the first place, they fame from India. I immeidiealty bought it because it reminded me of my past life.

"You are too focused on attacking my king that you forgot your defence. It only takes one officer to checkmate." She said.

By the way, I taught her how the game works only a few hours ago. She was a natural master at the game.

I knew I was more of a fighter than a thinker, and my IQ outside of battle was not high like Shen or other scholars but it was hard to accept defeat from an absolute amateur.

"Again, let's play it again." I said and she gave me a faint smile.

"Don't we have to train though?"

"Today is rest day. We won't stop until I win one more game." I said. The only games I won were the first two and she had been winning the rest.

"And don't you dare go easy on me." I warned.

So the game resumed. Mei had a small smile on her face, clearly pleased to have found my weakness and seeing my frustration with losing for once.

She was looking down on me, she even called it cute.

'I'll show her.'

But before I was able to absolutely demolish the cat girl in the game of chess, my senses picked up something and my chi expanded out from my body to scan the surroundings immediately.

A hundred kilometres. That was the radius I was able to cover with my senses at all times even when not focusing on it.

And something unordinary just stepped into that circle.

"Hmmmmm. I'm not sure I like that." I said while focusing on the presence that was running across Tibet.

"What? Its literally just a pawn move." Mei said.

"No, not the game." I said and stood up when I felt an unhealthy amount of ill intent coming from him

"We did not find the body of master gorilla but the rest were confirmed to be dead."

"The rebels don't have the kind of firepower to take down a hundred thousand soldiers."Shen stated in his scary slow voice and his eyes almost bulged out due to suppressed anger.

Just when he was about to finish his conquest, the rebels fought back and through unknown means, they had managed to push back the Empire's forces and they had already taken back the Western kingdom of Jingnan

"It's coming true." A voice suddenly said and walked into the throne room with the rhythmic sound of a cane hitting the floor.

"What is?" Shen asked Soothsayer who had decided to come into the throne room uninvited, again.

"The prophecy." She said and stood near Boss Wolf but she did not kneel to the child she had raised.

"Prophecy? What prophecy? We already broke that long ago, Tai Lung and I. You said it yourself." Shen said with an edge of forced disbelief in his voice.

"Yes, but fate is persistent." She said.

"I don't want to hear it old goat." Shen said. He was in no mood to listen to her cryptic species right now. He had enough trouble to deal with as is.

"Send a message to the Jade Palace and request the Dragon Warrior to look into this." Shen said, "I will also be heading to the battle myself, along with the new military forces with guns."

"As you command my lord." Boss Wolf said and immediately went out. He released a howl to notify his troops.

"Your legacy and ambition died at the hands of someone whose's was forgotten."

"Beware of the Jade Slayer."

Soothsayer whispered before she disappeared from the throne room.
