Zhang Liling slowly raised her head to glance at him.
"Mr. Fang, I have always been confident in my grades. I will not fail any course, and my grades will surely be better than average."
She sounded very confident in herself.
"I am not talking about your grades being better than average. I am talking about the first-class grade. Are you sure you want to celebrate now?"
Mr. Fang asked while staring right into her eyes.
'Oh! So this is what this is all about?'
Finally, Chuanli and Bolin got the clarity of the situation, and were no longer lost.
"Bingwen, you want her to get a first-class before she can celebrate graduating with a bachelor's degree?" Chuanli asked with an unbelievable expression on his face.
"Mmhmmm..." Mr. Fang hummed in reply.
Bolin swallowed hard before shifting his gaze from him to Zhang Liling who was fiddling with her fingers with a slight frown on her face.
Chuanli felt pity for Zhang Liling and decided to speak up for her.
"Bingwen, how could you put up this difficult task for her? You were not with her from the begining of her first year in the university. How best do you think her grades are, that you are expecting her to come out with a first class because you taught her in her graduate class?"
Fang Bingwen smiled with a predator vibe to it. "I went through her results before giving the task to her. Also, I made sure she had good food and healthy snacks to eat during her exams. Now tell me, what excuse does she have for not making first-class?"
'What?! he went through my grades from the past years?' Zhang Liling couldn't be anymore shocked than now.
'He went through her grades? Wow! This is a different Mr. Fang!' Bolin couldn't believe it.
The Mr. Fang he knew, didn't have time for things like that. When did he start to care?
"You went through her grades from her first year?" Chuanli asked with a widened gaze before shifting it to Zhang Liling.
Mr. Fang looked annoyed as he asked, "Do I need to explain myself again?"
Tilting his head toward Zhang Liling's direction, he said while pointing at the table, "Miss Zhang, do you still want to celebrate?"
Zhang Liling looked at the goodies on the table including the wine before shifting her gaze to Chuanli as if to ask what she should do next.
Chuanli and Bolin thought that Fang Bingwen was being unreasonable.
Even if Zhang Liling didn't get the first-class grade at last, she still had to celebrate today, or was he expecting them to throw everything out, and for her to slip into depression?
Quickly, Chuanli gathered his wits together. Smiling at Zhang Liling, he said, "Miss Zhang, you should sit and cut your cake and have some wine. Surely, you will make the first-class grade!"
Bolin knew he was just saying things as it came to his head, but still joined to encourage Zhang Liling.
"Miss Zhang, you should really cut your cake, so Mr Fang can have his food."
Mr. Fang watched them being all good to her and scoffed.
Zhang Liling glanced at him to know what his looks said, but he had his gaze elsewhere.
"Okay!" She finally said and sat down.
Chuanli pushed the cake in front of her before asking her to hold the knife.
Just then, Butler Gu and Ms. Chu came back. Seeing her about to cut the cake and Mr. Fang didn't look like he was against it, Butler Gu smiled and said to Ms. Chu in a low tone, "I will bring the wine glasses."
According to Chuanli's instruction, Zhang Liling cut the cake at the spelling of 'Graduate'
Bolin took over to cut the cake in a sizeable piece, before distributing it to everyone in a saucer.
Chuanli popped the wine and poured a little quantity for everyone in their wine glasses.
After clinking glasses with everyone except for Mr. Fang, Zhang Liling proceeded to drink from her glass.
Earlier, she had seen him glare at Chuanli when the latter came to clink glasses with him, and took that as a warning to stay off his path.
Fortunately, he accepted the wine and cake, and even ate a bit of the cake with his fork.
Ms. Chu was very fast with clearing the dining table so Mr. Fang could have his meal as soon as possible.
As the celebration has come to an end, and Mr. Fang was about to eat, Zhang Liling fiddled with her fingers before deciding to call out to him nervously.
"Mr. Fang, I need your permission to be somewhere in an hour."
"Where are you going?" He asked without lifting up his head. Lifting the plates covering his food was more important than glancing at her.
Chuanli's eyes shone brightly as he guessed where she might have to be. "You have a class party?"
"Yes," She admitted before moving her gaze to Mr. Fang.
"You want to go for your class party?" Mr. Fang asked with a narrowed gaze.
Zhang Liling nodded.
Chuanli was about to ask what was wrong with that, but Bolin placed his hand on his palm to stop him.
He was trying to stop him from interrupting Mr. Fang's conversation with Zhang Liling.
Chuanli heaved a sigh and decided to shut up. He just realized that interfering much wouldn't do him any good, as it was likely to backfire.
Mr Fang picked up his cutlery and asked, "Have you forgotten what you did the last time you drank?"
'Huh?'
'What happened last time?'
Chuanli and Bolin's interest were now piqued, despite the confusion on their faces.
"Mr. Fang, I was drunk the other time. This time around, I promise not to drink more than a glass. I just want to go out to have fun with my coursemates."
'Oh! She got drunk! She really has guts!' Bolin thought.
'She got drunk? What did she do when she was drunk?' Chuanli was really curious as he glanced between them.
