She wanted to surprise him? Well, she had succeeded in doing so.
The chauffeur that drove Zhang Liling to Mr. Fang's villa, "..."
The man just sat in his car with a shocked expression on his face.
The woman who was almost on the verge of crying was clutching tightly to a man now, and to think that he was worried about her... tsk..tsk...
After getting over this earlier shock, the driver came down from the car before going over to the trunk to take out Zhang Liling's luggage.
Then remembering that her slingback was still resting on the back seat, he cast a glance at the couple before shaking his head.
He couldn't call her to come pick up her luggage could he?
That would be rude of him so, he saved himself the reputation and went on to take out her bag.
"Mr. Fang, did you miss me at all?" Zhang Liling asked with a pout. She seemed to be wanting to force words out from his lips, but the man was not going to budge.
"Let go, I have to go to work." Mr. Fang said as he pried her arms off his back with his face contoured in a frown.
He was feigning seriousness because he was avoiding her question.
It was better to ignore her than to tell a lie he did not want to.
Also, the glasses over his eyes helped with the kind of look he wanted to portray. He looked just like his lecturing days at NYU.
Zhang Liling reluctantly released her hold on him, but she refused to leave his side even as he walked ahead.
"Mr. Fang, can't you stay at home today? I haven't seen you in a long time, I want to spend some time with you." She said as she jogged beside him.
Fang Bingwen said without batting an eye, "If you are serious, you should have returned at night when you would be sure to see me."
In essence, he was just trying to be stubborn and not let her have her way.
He knew her character very well and figured that if he wanted to be safe from her clutches, then he shouldn't give in to her on the first day otherwise, he would never be able to say NO to her.
Zhang Liling refused to give up and continued pestering him.
"Mr. Fang, don't you care about me, was all those conversations we had a lie?" She questioned with a serious look on her face.
Finally, Mr. Fang had to stop in his steps. "Did I ever say that I cared for you? Did I tell you that?" He asked as his gaze narrowed at her.
Gone was that emotional side of him on seeing her return after a whole year. It disappeared as quickly as it had come.
Zhang Liling's brows furrowed as black lines appeared on her forehead. 'W-What... does he mean?'
"But your actions proved that," she said as she slowly reached out to tug on his shirt while trying to proofread a point to him.
'She's still as stubborn as she was.' Mr. Fang thought with a hard stare on her.
Just then, their attention was drawn by the chauffeur that brought her over.
The man was already tired of waiting for her. He thought that if he continued to act like a gentleman, then nobody would acknowledge his existence till the next day.
Left with no choice, he had to call Zhang Liling's attention.
"Miss! Your bags..." He said with a straight gaze ahead while gesturing to the luggage and the bag beside him.
"Oh..." Zhang Liling exclaimed. She had almost forgotten about her own luggage on seeing her man.
Waving her free hand to him, she said in audible tone from that distance, "Mr. thank you for bringing me over. You can leave the bags there."
Getting the permision to leave, the driver nodded slightly at her, as relief washed over him.
He felt lucky to be able to leave and immediately turned to walk around to the other side of the car before stepping into the driver's seat.
Bolin who was standing beside Mr. Fang's car, turned around after putting away the briefcase and suit jacket to see the luggage.
"Miss Zhang is really back." he muttered under his breath as his gaze shifted to the little woman smiling so brightly.
Fang Bingwen looked at the one luggage she came back with and his brows tugged further.
'She came back with only one luggage? What happened to the second one?'
He had his doubts and almost wondered if she was going to leave soon.
'Is she going to leave again?'
Finally, he concluded that he needed to sit and have a conversation with her to find out her plans, but he didn't say that out to her because he didn't have that much time.
Instead, he turned to her to ask with a slight irritation in his tone, "Why did you bring your things over here?"
Zhang Liling did not understand the meaning behind his question as her focus was on taking her things into his house.
"I'm coming directly from the airport, where else was I supposed to take them?" Zhang Liling asked before shifting her gaze to her bag, then without warning, she dashed ahead.
"Mr. Fang, hold on a minute, let me bring my things over." She said to him.
Wait for her? Zhang Liling had underestimated Mr. Fang's mood.
Immediately she turned to run towards her luggage, he continued in his steps toward his car.
It was as if he was trying to escape before she came back to ask him to spend the rest of the day with her.
As Zhang Liling got to where her luggage was left and turned around, she saw Mr. Fang about to step into his car as Bolin stood holding the car door for him.
Immediately her eyes widened in shock. 'Where is he going?'
With that feeling of abandonment tugging in her heart. She left her luggage behind and started walking back toward his car.
"Ah... I forgot my phone." Mr. Fang said as he touched his pants pockets. Normally he was supposed to feel it as he was trying to sit, but he didn't, and that was when he figured that he had left it on the dining table.
At that realization, he turned to walk back towards the building.
Seeing him walking back toward the villa, Zhang Liling hurriedly called out to him, "Mr. Fang, where should I keep my things?"
"..." No answer.
"Mr. Fang?" She called out as her voice turned gentle, still she received no response.
Thinking that he was probably annoyed with her for not telling him about her travel plans, she devised a plan to get her way into his house.
With that thought, she increased her pace.
Finally when she got a little close to him, she asked a little breathlessly as a layer of sweat formed on her forehead, "Mr. Fang, do you accept stray cats?"
If being strong-headed was not going to make a way for her, then surely acting pitiful would do the trick.
Mr. Fang paused briefly in his steps and turned to give her a good glance while adjusting his reading glasses.
"You look like one," he said meaningfully in a deep voice that brought out his sexiness before continuing in his steps.
How could Zhang Liling let him leave like that when it was a matter of urgency?
There was no way she would let him off without getting what she wanted.
At least she was no longer asking him to stay back, she only wanted to be able to stay at his place again just like before.
Quickly chasing after him, she yelled, "Mr. Fang, you really have to take this stray cat in."
"I don't accept stray cats, I only accept humans," Mr. Fang replied as a slight smile turned up on his face.
He has been teasing her this whole time by making things a little difficult for her.
He was doing all of this just to get her reaction, and just as he thought, she was still the same person. Her personality did not change, not in this aspect in the very least.
"Huh? M-Mr. Fang, you have been teasing me?" Zhang Liling asked with a little surprise after detecting a hint of smile in his tone.
Fang Bingwen completely ignored her and went back into the house, refusing to admit to it.
Now, Zhang Liling looked a little confused. From his actions, she could tell that he had accepted her, but she didn't know if she should follow him into the house now, or go back to bring her luggage before he changed his mind.
Figuring that she could still meet him if she brought her luggage over Immediately, she turned around to go get it, and saw Bolin already clutching the handle in his hands and about to take a step forward.
"Mr. Bolin!" She called out as a smile slowly appeared on her face.
It was only now that the veil covering her eyes and stopping her from seeing other people apart from her Mr. Fang, fell off her eyes.
Well, it happened at the perfect timing just when Fang Bingwen left her sight.
Bolin returned a polite smile and started walking towards her.
He bore no grudge against her for totally ignoring his existence just to go find her Mr. Fang. Afterall, most of the times she contacted him when she was away, was to know of his Boss's schedule.
Sometimes when Mr. Fang wasn't answering her calls, she would phone him instead or text him to find out what the man was up to.
"Miss Zhang, welcome back." Bolin said as he clsoed the long gap between them.
