Placing her ear on the door, Zhang Liling called out as she listened for any sound. "Mr. Fang."
Not getting any response, she tried calling out to him again, but got interrupted midway.
"Mr. Fan..."
"Enough of this Mr. Fang." Fang Bingwen said as soon as he opened the door, shutting her up at the same time.
Staring at him, her lashes fluttered. "Y-You don't like it?"
Fang Bingwen stepped out of the room proper and closed the door without turning his back to her.
"When will you start to address me by my first name?"
"Maybe when I get the hang of it, Bingwen." Flashing him a smile, she took his hand and led him toward her small dining area.
"We have to enjoy the food while it's still hot."
Fang Bingwen shook his head as he allowed her to lead him.
She was having fun playing with him although he could not deny that whichever way she addressed him, sounded good.
He had only felt the need for her to change her mode of address in case they were in front of their families.
She couldn't make any mistake like that otherwise, it would look like their relationship was fake.
In the dining room, Zhang Liling poured some water in their glasses before sitting.
As soon as Fang Bingwen stepped into the dining area, his gaze landed on the plates of food served in the table and couldn't help but be amazed.
"Your skills gave improved," he commented while going over to sit down.
"Of course. I had to learn because of you. Didn't you perceive the aroma of the food when you stepped into the house?" Zhang Liling asked, proudly flashing him her two sets of teeth.
It was only because she pictured a future with him that she had to go and learn how to cook even though he didn't mind.
One skill she believed that a woman should have before getting married, is cooking skills.
Even if a man is not in the picture at least as an adult, you should be able to cook one or two for yourself.
In Zhang Liling's case, she learned to please Fang Bingwen.
To her question, Fang Bingwen replied, "Sometimes, a good aroma is not always associated with a grand taste of the food."
In essence, he was saying that a food that produces a good aroma, doesn't always turn out delicious when tasted.
Understanding him, Zhang Liling said in defence. "But mine is different. I would never have this kind of confidence if I didn't know how to cook, or do you think I would ask you to come and sit and eat an unhealthy food?"
"I will try it first." Fang Bingwen said as he picked up his cutlery.
Ignoring the rice, soup and side dishes placed in front of him, he went straight for the golden colour flavoured roasted chicken in front of him.
Using his cutlery, he cut a piece for himself before picking it up with his fork and sent it into his mouth.
He chewed the meet in his wife for a few seconds without letting any expression on his face reveal his thoughts.
All the impatient Zhang Liling who was waiting for his compliment could do, was to watch him patiently.
Feeling her gaze on him, Fang Bingwen did his best to ignore her until he had comfortably eaten a few more pieces from the grilled chicken.
"How is it?" Zhang Liling asked impatiently after observing that he wasn't going to say anything if she didn't show any interest.
"The taste entered the meaty part." Mr. Fang replied. Raising his head to meet her intense gaze, he added, "You did well."
"Thank you." Zhang Liling said as the ends of her lips immediately curled into a smile. Gesturing to him with her chopstick, she continued.
"Enjoy the rest of your meal."
Just like that, the couple started their dinner with satisfaction.
In the middle of eating, Fang Bingwen grabbed the glass of water by his side to drink from it, which got Zhang Liling's attention immediately.
"I forgot to get a bottle of wine." She commented as her lips drew into a pout.
Bringing the glass to his lips, he took a few sips before putting it down. "There is no need for wine today as we have a lot of work tonight."
"Work? What work?" Zhang Liling muttered under her breath, her brows creasing into a slight frown.
Did he come here just to work?
As if not being able to comprehend his statement, she leaned in close to ask softly. "Mr. Fang, did you come here to work?"
"Did you think that something else other than work would make me want to sleep over at your place if not for work?" Fang Bingwen retorted while giving her the side glance.
She really was something else.
It took a little while for Zhang Liling's brain to assimilate his statement.
He came to her place to work? What kind of work?
With a little confusion writing all over her face, she couldn't help but to ask about it.
Without delaying, Fang Bingwen talked about the details of the work.
"The promotional graphics and videos for the ads are ready. We have to start releasing them this night so that by tomorrow morning, we will a good traffic on the internet. There..."
Zhang Liling listened calmly while watching him speak with all seriousness in his tone.
She was starting to get the hang of being a business woman.
"Bit I don't what anyone to know I'm the owner of the brand yet. Truth be told, I am scared of that woman in the Zhang Family." Zhang Liling revealed after Fang Bingwen asked her to promote her brand under her social media account.
She was afraid of Shi Wenqian and what that woman would do after learning that she was starting her own business, despite having someone like Fang Bingwen by her side.
It's not like she didn't have the guts to face her, but she didn't want her business to face any harm before its opening. It was still too early.
"You shouldn't be afraid of her when you have me. I won't let any harm come to you and your affairs." Fang Bingwen promised with a serious expression on his face.
He was not about to let the woman he had chosen to spend the rest of his life with, suffer any harm because of a useless side character he wouldn't mind doing everything outside his powers to erase from the face of the Earth.
Zhang Liling was his woman now. It was only right that he should protect her with everything he's got.
