"Is she going out with Zhang Mingyu?" Tungmei mumbled to herself as her gaze followed Mikayla till she disappeared from the translucent glass view.
Since she came to know about her and Zhang Mingyu's relationship, she had been keeping her eyes on her trying to get any evidence of them seeing each other, but things were not easy.
As the couple would always hang out in an enclosed space of Zhang Mingyu's office or outside of work, she couldn't take photos or make a record.
How annoying!
Not long after Zhang Xiaoling left did Tungmei clock off work as well.
She only had to tell her supervisor at work about leaving for the day after she had submitted a detailed report of a task to him.
Picking up her bag, she went to take the elevator while patting her head.
After a long day at work, she was sure she was already looking worn out.
While in the elevator, she picked up her phone to kill some time before it arrived at the ground floor.
As soon as it arrived, she stepped out of it and walked outside the tall building to flag down a cab, but then an exciting scene just had to be playing out there.
Just when she lifted her head from her phone, she saw Mikayla standing beside a cab and with her gaze toward a particular side of the building.
The taxi driver seemed to be fed up for with waiting for her so he brought his head out from the car window and said to her.
"Miss are you getting in or what? You stopped me for almost 5 minutes now but you haven't said where you are going to. You only asked me to wait."
Getting scolded by the cab driver she stopped what was not a part of the plan. Being arrogant of the fact that she knew someone from the upper class, she could do anything she wanted, but today was different.
Instead of sending the driver off for raising his voice at her, she actually pleaded.
"Driver, I'm waiting for someone. Don't get worked up about waiting for a little while more, I will give you 30% extra of my fare."
Behind, Tungmei's brows furrowed. "Who is she waiting for?"
Knowing that Zhang Mingyu had a car that he drives every day of his life, she was confused for a moment, and that made her continue to stand at the same spot to watch Mikayla.
Hearing her pleas, the driver put his head back into the car and continued waiting. As along as she would pay him for staying put, then he was all good.
"Where is he?" Mikayla bit her lips as her gaze wandered around.
Though she had managed to calm the driver, she was still impatient while waiting for someone she didn't even know if he had left already.
But just as she was about giving up, she saw the familiar car driving out from the underground parking lot and quickly opened the back passenger door of the cab.
"Driver, quickly follow that car!" She commanded as she put on her seatbelt, her eyes never leaving Zhang Mingyu's car.
Following her finger to the sports car driving off, the driver couldn't help but get curious as he slowly secured his seatbelt.
"Is that the person you have been waiting for?"
Instead of responding to him, Mikayla gave him a good scolding.
"Yah! You know that's a sports car right? If you loose him, I won't pay you a dime!"
Hearing her disrespectful tone, the man was tempted to ask her to get down that he wasn't interested in taking her anywhere again, but because he hadn't made much money for the day, he decided to out up with her and drove off in speed.
Watching as the cab drove away in pursuit of Zhang Mingyu's car, Tungmei was still standing there and trying to get over the little surprise.
"They are not leaving together? She is tailing him?" At that evaluation, she quickly stepped forward to see if she can find a taxi to follow Mikayla's cab before it was too later.
Luckily, she found one dropping someone off in front of the building and quickly got into it.
Normally, she would never take a cab home because of the cost as she had an entire family to support on her back.
But because of how important this matter with Mikayla was and in order to help her friend, she didn't mind spending a bit.
Also, the conclusion she came up with earlier was because of how sure she was.
A few times, she had caught Mikayla and Zhang Mingyu meeting at the underground parking lot and leaving together in his car.
With the scene that just happened in front of her eyes, she was sure that something was going on between them.
Even if they were not riding in the same car to avoid suspicion and they were going to meet at a particular place, Mikayla would definitely know the address, and there would be no need to worry about losing Zhang Mingyu.
She was definitely tailing him.
As soon as Tungmei got settled in the car, she picked up her phone and called Zhang Liling to report her findings and suspicion.
"That's my friend!"
As soon as Zhang Liling heard the news she was hyper and couldn't stop praising her for one bit.
Tungmei had to put the phone away from her ear to avoid having ear problems in the future.
At the end, she had to stop that friend of hers from dividing her concentration.
"Liling, let's talk later."
Understanding that she was in on an important mission, Zhang Liling agreed to end the call.
"Alright! I owe you a party tomorrow."
"Which party?" Fang Bingwen asked with furrowed brows as he stepped into the room after overhearing her conversation.
Zhang Liling was smiling from ear to ear until she heard his threatening tone from behind.
At the other end of the phone, Tungmei who heard Fang Bingwen's voice in the background, chuckled with a hand over her mouth.
"Liling, I think you are in trouble." Whispering those words, she terminated the call, her eyes, still filled with laughter.
"I heard you say you owe someone a party. Mrs. Fang, do you care to explain to your husband about what I heard?" Mr. Fang inquired while staring straight into her eyes.
His brows were creased, just perfectly showcasing his dare and tiny annoyance.
'Where was this woman planning to go? Does she want her legs broken?'
Seeing that her husband was annoyed, Zhang Liling masked her fear with a laugh and took his hand before pulling him in for a hug.
"Mr. Fang, it's nothing." She said, trying to appease him, but she just had to fail as he refused to be deceived.
Taking her hand, he led her to the sofa. "Explain what your phone conversation."
Since she didn't want to confirm what he just heard, then he was going to find out if she would be punished or not after finding out who she was speaking withy on the phone when he caught her.
He just knew that little woman of his could not stay away from having fun with her friends.
Which one of them...?
Being reminded of the conversation she just had with Tungmei, Zhang Liling immediately spilled the content of their conversation.
"... I think Zhang Mingyu has a little issue with his girlfriend." She concluded.
"It is not surprising. He is getting married to another woman whose family should not be offended." Fang Bingwen chipped in.
Nodding in agreement, Zhang Liling said, "If Tungmei can get something or find out something important we can work it and make it huge before using it against Shi Wenqian."
A deep sigh escaped from Fang Bingwen's lips as he let his gaze meet hers. "After today, don't let your friend do something like this again. It can be dangerous. I will take care of things and tell you if I need anything."
He didn't like the fact that Tungmei would be doing something like that. What if she got into trouble or an accident in the course of following two people that had nothing to do with her?
"Alright, when I meet her today or tomorrow, I will speak to her." Zhang Liling replied.
After listening to his explanation, she came to understand how dangerous things could be. Also, she didn't want it to seem like she was using her best friend.
Apart from hearing her agreement, Fang Bingwen heard something else that brought his mind back to the reason they had to start having the conversation in the first place.
"Why do you have to meet her when you can give her a call at most?" His eyes threatened as his gaze hardened.
"I-I mean... I-I... Tungmei is my friend, there is nothing wrong with meeting her. I haven't seen her since after our wedding." Zhang Liling stammered as her gaze moved all over his face, refusing to stop at a place.
"Look at this woman. If you want to see your friend so badly, invite her home!" He said and got up from the sofa.
Did she think she could play with his brain?
She didn't know he had more experience than her.
