Hearing her confession, the doctor shook his head. "Not really. The drugs may have changed your system a bit, but it should not have caused trouble to this extent."
Relaxing on his seat, he continued, "Well unless a test is done, but I doubt that someone of your status will take drugs not prescribed by a professional."
"The drugs were prescribed." Zhang Xiaoling confirmed.
"Then there shouldn't be any course for alarm. What we should be concerned about is how to prevent you from having a miscarriage. Mrs. Tang, you have been stressed both mentally and physically over time."
From the side, Tang Enlai interrupted. "Doctor, how can you help to stabilize the child. We will follow your instructions."
Tang Enlai was more worried about the child they were on the verge of losing more than how to manage the stress.
At least, they needed to hear a good news first to calm their nerves.
If the lose the child, it may not be easy for them to take in again and also, they would be very pained. They had only found out about the child, so how could they bear losing it?
"First of all, cut down on whatever that has been troubling you. If possible, stay away from it as further damage can not be done. Secondly, I will prescribe some drugs and make some changes to her diet, plus some recommendable exercises and healthy routine she has to follow for the foetus to survive this delicate period." The doctor said and immediately got to work.
While he got busy with putting a few things in writing, Tang Enlai reached down to hold Xiaoling's hand and squeezed it gently, as if to promise her that he would take care of everything.
It was there that a deep sigh of relief escaped her lips.
But before the doctor could finish working on the list, Tang Enlai tool and excuse and left for a brief moment. When he returned, the doctor handed the paper to him.
As he was going through it with Xiaoling, the doctor recommended a few more things on the list for them, which included some helpful magazines and books.
Thanking the doctor, Tang Enlai took Zhang Xiaoling's hand and left his office with determination written all over his face.
Outside the hospital, he carefully helped her into the car before going over to seat at the driver's seat.
You might be wondering what happened to Xiaoling's car? I bet you, that is not an issue.
"Are you hungry? No, let's get your routine drugs first and shop for a few more things before I take you to the restaurant. You know, you need to have the drugs in handy as soon as you finish eating." Tang Enlai said while staring at her.
"Can I see the list again?" Zhang Xiaoling requested. Finally she was saying something.
"Sure." Dipping his hand into the breast pocket of his suit jacket, he handed the paper to her.
On their way to the drug store, he kept her busy by asking her if she wanted to eat any special. "I will only allow it for lunch. After that, we have to strictly follow your diet plan given by the doctor."
"I'm fine. I will just have the normal local food with soup." Zhang Xiaoling shook her head before venturing into another space.
She was still trying to understand her circumstance, or rather she was still trying to digest the whole scene that transpired at the doctor's office.
She was pregnant, and on the brink of miscarriage, but her husband wasn't letting her go even after learning about her mother's dirty background.
He was really here for her.
Even though Zhang Xiaoling tried so many times to doubt her husband's intentions, she couldn't succeed after all, he had already promised to take care of her before they learnt she was pregnant.
This man genuinely loved her and she couldn't help but wonder what she did to deserve that good will.
'Zhang Liling, is this your wish?' She thought to herself.
Remembering her last moment with her step-sister, she couldn't help but feel settled because she could sense and see that she no longer bore any grudges against her.
Even at the last moment, she had wished her well and advised her to take the right step by telling her husband everything before the media helped her.
Did Zhang Liling genuinely care for her or did she pity her?
Whichever the answer was, Zhang Xiaoling didn't want to know any more because it was no longer important.
What was important was how she was going to survive her mother's dirty laundry being spread outside, the netizens dragging her, and her in-laws wanting her out of the house.
Knowing who her mother-in-law was, she was sure that she would even throw her out of the Josie with the child in her belly.
Thinking about the immature child she was carrying, she reached out to touch her belly gently.
"You still can't believe it right?" Tang Enlai asked with a smile while sparing her a glance.
"Mmmm." She nodded as a small smile tool its time before forming on her cheeks.
"We are here." Tang Enlai announced before parking the car.
Together, they walked into the drug store together and handed over the drug list to them plus the doctor's letter.
Half an hour later, Zhang Xiaoling was already done eating and taking her meds in the private room of a good restaurant Tang Enlai took them to.
Wiping the corner of her lips while glancing at the plates still containing at least half of the food she didn't touch, she heard him speak from across her.
"I booked us a flight to Brazil. Our flight is by 6 in the morning." Tang Enlai revealed, while withholding the struggle to ensure that they left the country early the following day, but Xiaoling was a little lost.
"We are going where?" Her eyes widened in surprise as the napkin dropped from her hands.
Was she having hearing impairment now?
Knowing that she was surprised with his plans to save her from distress, he continued instead of repeating his statement.
"We will be staying for about 3 months there. I used my contact to get us this huge deal even though it cost a lot. Unfortunately, we can't stay longer than 3 months because of our jobs. This time should be enough to make the media stop pestering us. Although this will depend on how they handle things after the news blow up, I will not hesitate to find another location as long it comes to you and our child's safety."
