Chapter 29 - Eat Like There's No Tomorrow

Master Xia was like a child who got a lot of presents on Christmas day. He was very much excited that he had practically pulled out all of the plastic containers from the plastic bag at once.

Opening the lid of one of the plastic containers, an aromatic scent bombarded Master Xia's nostrils and he could not help but salivate at the sight of this delicious looking food.

The roast pork seemed to be juicy and tender with an undeniable crispy and oily crunchiness. Master Xia could even smell the fragrant aroma of thyme and garlic...

Setting it aside, he opened another container. Seeing its contents, he could not help but cringe as he remembered his wife's obsession with vegetables nowadays.

Although the scalloped carrots looked appetizing, Master Xia had enough of eating those leaves for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

He carefully put the lid back on and check the other plastic containers. He separated the ones with vegetables in them from the ones with meat.

If his wife saw him 'cheating' on her, Madam Xia would not let him up and force him to eat vegetables forever.

Master Xia was really craving for the roast pork which looked extremely appealing.

Grabbing the wooden box which Xia Jinhu had thought as the receptacle of an imperial edict, Master Xia opened it to reveal...

...

..

.

Two hot and steaming rice bowls!

Opening the bottom drawer of his desk, Master Xia pulled out two pairs of wooden chopsticks.

One for him and one for Jinhu.

However, the gossip-lover son of his had not return after so long. Glancing at his watch, Master Xia frowned.

'If he's not back in a minute, then I'll eat everything by myself!'

Tick, tock, tick, tock...

Each second felt like an eternity for Master Xia. Luckily, he didn't have to wait for too long.

A minute had passed but Xia Jinhu was nowhere to be found, Master Xia could not help himself anymore...

He picked up his chopsticks and started to dig in. He stuffed himself up and eat like there's no tomorrow!

"Hmm... So good!" There was an extremely satisfied expression on Master Xia's face.

This was how Xia Jinhu saw his father after he came back to get the camera!

He had taken a bit too long because copying the photos that he had captured took more than five minutes. After all, there were probably about five hundred of them!

Now, all that hassle just a while ago was for nothing!

His father had not even noticed him enter his study as he was busy munching on HIS food!

That food was MINE!

M. I. N. E.

To say that he was shocked would be an understatement. It would be more apt to say that Xia Jinhu's expression, at that time, was that of a stupefied one.

Because he was too much dumbfounded of seeing his father practically inhaling the food his big brother had given to him, the camera that was held in Xia Jinhu's hand almost fell to the ground.

Father was not looking for the camera?!

What in the world was happening here?!

Xia Jinhu felt that his brain had short-circuited.

However, noticing that half of the food was already gone, Xia Jinhu did not hesitate any further. Grabbing the rice bowl intended for him, he started digging into the scrumptious meal.

Against the temptation of good food, the busybody Xia Jinhu was completely defenseless...

Seeing that his son was back, Master Xia looked up from his rice bowl, slightly curious as to what could have made this foodie discard such delicious meal earlier.

"Where have you been?"

Xia Jinhu glanced up at his father, his mouth full of food, "I rern tsu mrar room..."

"What?" Master Xia said exasperatedly. "Don't talk when your mouth is full."

Nodding his head, Xia Jinhu chewed his food and swallowed it before opening his mouth once again, "I just went to my room to get some stuff."

But at that moment, Master Xia was not paying attention to Xia Jinhu anymore, his eyes were focused on the last piece of roast pork in the plastic container.

Of course, this did not go unnoticed by Xia Jinhu, his eyes following his father's line of sight.

Just as Master Xia thought that he already had this last piece for himself, a pair of wooden chopsticks held it down.

"This is mine!" Xia Jinhu exclaimed vehemently.

The father and the son had a stare down, no one wanting to relinquish their rights over the last piece of roast pork.
