Chapter 219: Ch.218 Sorcerer’s Battle

Holloway's face was pale, but he held his weapon steady.

This was his first time truly facing super-powered beings in combat, but his willpower was strong enough to support his actions. Even though becoming a superhero wasn't as simple as taking down a few bank robbers, for Holloway and this first generation of heroes, the road ahead was long.

Su Ming casually walked through the battlefield, which was now littered with craters. If the construction quality of Kamar-Taj hadn't been as solid, Su Ming would have worried about the entire complex sliding down the mountain.

The symbiote wasn't the only prisoner that had escaped. As Su Ming moved forward, he casually dispatched a few lesser demons. These things couldn't be killed for good. If slain in the real world, they'd simply respawn in the hell dimensions.

Still, Su Ming didn't like having demons watching him work, so he sent them home. They all swore they'd get revenge later, but Su Ming deflected their threats swiftly.

"I was hired by the Ancient One to deal with you. If you want revenge, take it up with her."

Watching the demons die reluctantly under his sword, their faces twisted in frustration, made Su Ming feel pretty good.

He even let the doctor get some practice in, having him waste dozens of bullets to take down a minor demon.

Not that it actually killed the demon.

BANG!

"Aaaah!"

BANG!

"Aaaah!"

BANG BANG BANG!

"Ooooh oooh oooh!"

"Reload."

"Can't you just finish me off quickly?"

The distance wasn't far, so Su Ming was deliberately stalling. If he really wanted to rush in, he could get there quickly and didn't have to worry about anything going wrong.

But the Cloak of Levitation seemed to sense his thoughts. It suddenly flew behind Su Ming and wrapped itself around him, lifting him into the air with a strong pull.

"Wait! Your color doesn't match my uniform! This is embarrassing!" Su Ming protested.

But he knew the Cloak had noticed something important, and continuing to stall would be inappropriate. Reluctantly, he allowed himself to be carried forward.

Namor's disappearance was suspicious, and that was the most pressing issue.

The Cloak swiftly delivered Su Ming to the edge of the battlefield, with Holloway sprinting behind them.

If not for the fact that these people were dressed like sorcerers, Su Ming would've thought he'd walked onto the wrong set. It looked like a massive battle between Jedi and Sith.

Both sides were sorcerers, hurling spells and beams of light in all directions. Magic, the likes of which Su Ming had never seen, was being flung as if it cost nothing, and the two groups clashed fiercely in close combat.

The Ancient One's bald head stood out among the hundreds of fighters, and Su Ming immediately spotted her. She was wearing her signature yellow silk robe, with a white pillar of light bursting from her back. The immense white magic energy made everything around her seem ethereal.

But her opponent was also a woman—a stranger to Su Ming. This woman had voluminous wavy hair, wore heavy black eyeliner and lipstick, and was dressed in a revealing, low-cut leather outfit. Her long legs were encased in black stockings and boots.

She wielded deep black magic, and the black pillar of light clashing with the Ancient One's white magic formed the towering gray beam that pierced the sky.

The two women were evenly matched, battling fiercely at both close range and with mid-range spells. They fought from the real world into the mirror dimension and shattered it, returning to reality. Fragments of space and time appeared around them, disintegrating just as quickly. No one else could intervene in this battle—it was on a level far beyond what the eye could see.

Both sorcerers' magic was being countered by the other. The Ancient One repeatedly used the Eye of Agamotto, but her opponent had an artifact of her own, disrupting the Time Stone's power.

"Let's land here," Su Ming said.

The Cloak set him down in a hidden spot, and Su Ming quickly found cover behind a broken palace wall, scanning the two opposing forces for any familiar faces.

"Cloak, what do you think?"

The Cloak brushed against Su Ming's mask, making a soft rustling sound as if to say, "Something's definitely off."
