Chapter 240: Ch.239 Go and Get Your Love
Crack! Bang!
Deadpool, following his cousin's orders, jogged through the pitch-black corridor. Upon reaching the door at the end, he slid his sword into the gap, pried it open, and kicked the door in, rushing inside.
"Uncle Deadpool's here! Why is no one here to greet me, you little—Haha, yeah, I see you! Your butt is sticking out from behind there! Wait... what? That's your face?! Holy s—!"
Su Ming and the others watched as Deadpool disappeared around the corner through the door, followed by loud shouts and the sound of gunfire.
The muzzle flashes lit up the corridor briefly, making the damp moss on the walls shimmer like stars in the night sky.
"Let's move. Be careful, you two—no armor."
Behind the door, just as Su Ming had suspected, was a vast space. It might have once been a warehouse, but now it had been converted into a massive laboratory and factory.
Numerous large, complex machines were arranged throughout the room, and in the center was a production line. Dozens of naked human corpses hung from metal hooks like pigs in a slaughterhouse, suspended about half a meter above the ground, slowly moving along the conveyor belt toward the next room.
Deadpool was among the hanging bodies, engaging in fierce gunfire exchanges with the enemy. He darted between torsos and legs, dodging blue energy beams, all the while shouting profanities.
Su Ming observed from the doorway for a moment. The enemy soldiers were German, but not HYDRA.
They didn't wear HYDRA's armbands or uniforms, but they did have glowing blue energy weapons—the kind seen in movies—with a metal backpack connected by tubes, resembling pesticide sprayers.
Su Ming wasn't sure if his armor could withstand the energy from the Tesseract, but it didn't seem promising.
Even if Deadpool got hit by one of those beams, it would take out a large chunk of his body. Wade's stomach was already missing a piece, the charred wound healing slowly, indicating that even his regeneration was struggling.
Monarch and Horowitz would need to be even more cautious. They didn't have healing factors, and those weapons would turn them into piles of ash in an instant.
"Monarch, protect the two of you. Horowitz, pull down one of the bodies for examination. I'm going to help Wade."
Su Ming surveyed the battlefield. The factory had two levels. The middle was filled with machinery, and the large conveyor belt was transporting bodies into a feeder chute that led to the next room. Whatever was in there remained unknown.
The enemy currently had the upper hand, pinning Wade down like a game of whack-a-mole.
Although Deadpool kept cursing nonstop, he didn't dare stick his head out. Sparks flew constantly from the cover he hid behind, and explosions sent mechanical parts and body fragments flying everywhere.
Su Ming sprinted through the hail of gunfire, sliding beside Deadpool and taking cover behind a machine.
Deadpool groaned, his head lolling around as he slumped to the ground. With his brain damaged, everything he saw appeared haloed, and for a moment, the world seemed beautiful. It was like hearing Star-Lord's favorite song.
Hail, what's the matter with your head? Hail, what's the matter with your mind and your sign?
Come and get your love, come and get your love.
Ah, what a beautiful, warm afternoon...
Then the second bullet hit, going through his forehead and exiting the back of his skull, sending another spray of brain matter flying. He collapsed backward as Su Ming's voice echoed once again.
"Turn off! Your! MP3!"
Su Ming finally felt satisfied. He'd been holding it in for too long. After carving a cross into Wade's brain with bullets, he grabbed his Twilight Sword, vaulted over the cover, and charged at the stumbling enemies in the darkness.
Meanwhile, Deadpool lay on the ground, staring blankly at the ceiling. After a moment, he stretched his hands out toward the sky. He imagined seeing Vanessa smiling at him. He wanted to embrace her.
Then he realized that Vanessa was lifting him in a princess carry. Not bad, he thought. They'd played with that position before. She must really like it to switch roles.
He nestled his head against Vanessa's chest like a helpless bird.
Wait... something wasn't right. The size was right, but Vanessa's chest wasn't this hard. Oh well, she leaned in for a kiss, so why think too much?
But as his brain finished healing, Deadpool's vision cleared. It wasn't Vanessa holding him, but a grotesque creature with the head of a great white shark mounted on a naked, muscular body.
And that mouth wasn't her tender, red lips but a massive, tooth-filled maw. It wasn't his girlfriend coming to "eat" him—it was a muscle-bound monster about to literally devour him!
"Ugh! What the hell is this?!" Deadpool quickly beheaded the creature, its shark-like head flopping around like a fish out of water before finally going still. He'd never seen anything like it.
Waking from a blissful dream to this nightmarish reality made Deadpool gag. He leaned against a nearby railing, and some part of his body went limp.
His legs—definitely his legs.
"Shit, that was disgusting! It tried to take advantage of me, the great Deadpool! Keep pulling this kind of twist, and I'll be impotent, I swear! Who wrote this garbage script anyway? No big-budget action scenes, and we can't even afford a proper cameo for my girlfriend? That one brief appearance doesn't even count as a guest star!"
He continued to rant, even spitting in frustration, but forgot to lift his mask, so he ended up swallowing it back down.
Not that he cared anymore. He just wanted to vent his frustration over his shattered dream. He sprinted forward, brandishing his twin katanas, and charged at the waves of enemies pouring in.
