Chapter 396: Ch.395 Diana's Escape
Su Ming leaned the large golden egg against a tree and took a moment to catch his breath.
Now that they had three of the marked, while the enemy only had one, they were in a position of significant advantage.
As for who the final marked one was, they didn't know yet, but perhaps it wouldn't be long before that person revealed themselves.
However, it was strange that Swamp Thing had not shown up when the Green needed him.
And in the hours Su Ming had been acting, who knew what Luthor and his people had been up to.
He patted the massive tree next to him—the thickest tree he'd ever seen. If he hollowed it out and built a villa inside, that would be nice.
Just because other people were afraid of living in the depths of the Amazon rainforest didn't mean Su Ming was.
Moreover, this place was sparsely populated, and most wouldn't dare offend the Green, making it a good spot.
Perhaps sensing his thoughts, the trees responded through the ground with an emphatic rejection, as if going mad.
They had no interest in sharing their habitat with animals.
"Deathstroke, what do we do next?" Donna glanced at the large golden egg beside them. She knew about the Godslayer—it was a transforming weapon. It was still contracting, as if it were trying to turn Black Orchid into a chocolate ball.
"Wait a while. Once Black Orchid passes out, we'll throw her somewhere safe to keep her, and then I'll retrieve my weapon. Meanwhile, we wait for the fifth person to appear."
Arabella slid down the side of a large tree, dusted her hands, and lit a cigarette.
"I think the fifth one might not appear anymore. We could be dealing with Hecate herself, her true form with three heads and six arms."
"That's even better. We take her out and settle this once and for all." Su Ming took off his helmet to smoke as well and rolled the giant egg a little with his hand.
"But have you considered what happens to magic in this world if you really manage to kill her? If witchcraft disappears, many sorcerers will be reduced to ordinary people."
Donna frowned. Having Diana as her sister meant she knew more than other second-tier heroes, like the countdown to the end of the world, or matters of transcendence and destruction.
"Isn't there still Upside-Down Man? Though he's darker, magic has always come at a cost. He's not wrong about that."
Su Ming brought up the scaly, upside-down being.
Arabella's words shocked Bobo, but Su Ming was just a bit surprised.
"What happened?"
The sorceress tossed her cigarette to the ground and stomped it out. She spoke irritably, "What else? She's the Queen of the Amazons, and Mazikeen is the Queen of Hell. The two ended up saying something that triggered the other, and a fight broke out."
Su Ming frowned, put his helmet back on, and picked up the now-ball-shaped Godslayer.
"Technically, Diana shouldn't be a match for Mazikeen. You know Lucifer left his angelic power with her before he left Hell, as her foundation for ruling it."
"Well, you only know half the story," Arabella said, gargling some alcohol. "That power was so great that it scared everyone in Hell. The lower demons were used to Lucifer. A fallen angel wouldn't use angelic power to rule them, but Mazikeen had always been behind the scenes. Now that she was in charge, they worried she'd misuse that power."
"So?"
Su Ming didn't know about this. Hell was vast, and there was no way everything could be recorded in comics.
"So, to show she wouldn't misuse that power, Mazikeen nailed her hands to the throne using a weapon from ancient gods. Unless she breaks those bonds, she's simply a symbolic figurehead. She wanted to do this to prove her love and loyalty to Lucifer."
"And how can she break free?" Donna was intrigued. She was quite fond of this kind of romantic story.
The Prince of Hell left his power and throne to his lover, who only guarded it, waiting longingly for his return.
Just thinking about it made Donna feel emotional.
But then she remembered that the protagonists were both demons—Lucifer, known for his cruelty, fickleness, and lust—and the feeling disappeared, leaving only curiosity and pity for Mazikeen.
"A Seraph Blade. Only by using a Seraph Blade to sever Mazikeen's hands can she break free from the ancient weapon's bonds." Arabella was generous with her information.
Currently, there were three Seraph Blades.
Lucifer had one himself, the archangel Michael in Heaven had another, and Gabriel had the third.
However, Gabriel was banished by the Silver City not long ago for getting involved in some demonic affairs, and his wings were taken.
He was now on Earth, broke, addicted to drugs and alcohol, living in parks or under bridges.
Su Ming slung the weapon over his shoulder. From afar, it looked like he was carrying a giant golden bundle.
"Alright, that's enough background. Arabella, take us to Hell. Let's see where Diana went after escaping. That woman never stops causing trouble."
