Just as when she thought everything was going on perfectly, she bumped into someone else at the door.
Worse still, she did not know how to adress this lady that had suddenly crossed paths with her. She had adressed her as 'mother' before but what about now?
The lady seemed to sense her internal questions. "Just call me Auntie." she said.
Wan Jia coughed lightly. "Auntie, you're here too."
Her heart melted when she heard the sweet sounding 'auntie' from Wan Jia.
"I came to accompany Xuanxuan, but she isn't here yet." she replied. "Little Wan, how have you been? You've become skinnier." she took Wan Jia's arm and examined it carefully. Although she was still slim before, she had lost a lot of weight in the past few years. Madam Yun's heart ached for her.
"Wanwan." Lu Aotian interrupted before she could reply. He went over and pulled Wan Jia close to him before leaving with her.
He had nothing against Madam Yun, but he nonetheless hated people from that side. He would not allow those people to get close to his wife.
It was already a very huge compromise that he could Let Yuan have such a close relationship with her.
Watching their disappearing backs, Madam Yun looked at Wan Jia with a complicated gaze...
....
"Just how long do you take to get ready?" Wan Jia scolded her friend when she arrived. She had said that she was getting dressed but took two whole hours to arrive!
"I only took one hour, okay?" she sighed, feeling that Wan Jia was being overly naggy.
"A whole hour? Yun slow-dresser Xuan!" she berated mercilessly, forgetting that she had already broken her own slow-dressing record by taking almost four hours today.
Yun Xuan did not expose her and changed the topic. "Tell me the good news. Haven't you kept me dangling in anxiety enough?"
"Huh, what's in it for me?"
"Wanwan! You even want a bribe for this? Are we even friends?" Yun Xuan was heartbroken.
"Why not?" she smiled evilly.
"Fine. A box of candy?"
"Nope."
"Two boxes?"
"Deal." She cleared her throat before narrating the incident. For a gossipy soul like her gossip-mate, it would be better to include all the details or she wouldn't stop nagging her. "So, after some small talk, Elder Qian asked to take me as a disciple."
"What? Congratulations Wanwan, that's definitely worth my candy. You're so lucky." she congratulated genuinely.
This friend of hers seemed to be on a high streak of luck lately.
"Xuanxuan, Wanwan, you girls are here. Why don't you join the other guests and chat a bit? You may even meet people you have common topics with." Madam Yun said as she approached them with drinks.
"Can't we gossip a little?" Yun Xuan whined.
Her mother laughed. "You silly girl, you only know to gossip. Even if you don't want to make friends, don't stop Wanwan from meeting influential people from your industry, alright?" she nagged as she patted Wan Jia's shoulder.
Lu Aotian witnessed this scene from not too far away. He immediately rushed over and pulled his wife away, not forgetting to glare at Yun Xuan as if telling her to hold her mother back.
"Why did you pull me away?" Wan Jia was displeased. She liked being in Madam Yun's company as well and although this was their first meeting since three years ago, she did not feel that Madam Yun was dangerous at all.
"I want to introduce you to some people." he gave a lame excuse, despite knowing that she would not believe him.
"Aunty Yun is not dangerous." she complained.
Aunty Yun??
What in the world?
He clenched his free fist to calm his shock. "She may not be dangerous, but her husband is. The farther you stay away from people related to him the better." he said indifferently, but there was one thing he did not mention.
He pulled her along to a table to introduce her to some of the influential people in the circle who loved to suck up to him.
"This is my fiancée, Wan Jia. She doesn't drink, I'll toast on her behalf."
The young men present at the table looked heartbroken.
This was the exact effect he wanted- to let all those who were casting lustful glances at her know that she was taken. He even exaggeratively pulled her so close to his body, they might as well merge into one.
The young men could only look on with burning jealousy.
They introduced themselves as she listened unattentively. However, one man piqued her interest.
CEO Guo of Climax Studio. Since she was still unable to start her own studio considering her lack of business patners, she had decided to join a studio for the time being.
As for which she would join, it would be any studio that was not related to Lu Enterprise. She knew Elite Fashion World was the best there could be but Lu Aotian would definitely be biased towards her if she went there.
Thus she chose Climax Studio which was also among the best fashion studios. However, her portforlio had been rejected when she sent it over.
Among the people on the table were CEOs of companies affaliated in the fashion industry and had tried to poach Wan Jia in vain.
Among them, CEO Guo of Climax Studio looked particularly disappointed. He had really wanted yo recruit this incredibly talented young lady. Too bad she had rejected their invite.
Seeing the two of them look at each other for a little too long, Lu Aotian frowned and pulled his wife towards another table.
