For the next few days after the banquet, Wan Jia focused her energy on creating a few drafts for her portfolio.
In the end, she actually sent one of them to Qing Tai Media and recieved an invite for an interview. After some consideretaion, she had decided that going to a company whose Vice President was trying to hit on her would not be a great move.
Not only would that upset Lu Aotian, that man might even make things difficult for her if she rejected him.
On a Monday morning, she woke up quite early and dressed up formally for the interview.
Although she had very little experience, it was no exaggeration to say that her talent was out of the roof and would crush all those current designers in Qing Tai Media within just a few weeks.
As expected, the manager of the design department was quite impressed with her designs.
"I'll show you to your new office. You can come to work starting from tomorrow. However, since you have no experience, you will have to undergo a training period of two months." Said the manager.
"Thank you," she said courteously.
A young lady met them just as they stepped out of the office.
The manager glared at her coldly. "What took took you so long? Quick, take over and show Designer Wan around the company."
He turned to Wan Jia to introduce them "This is Xiao Li, your assistant. Xiao Li, this is Designer Wan. Take good care or her."
The little assistant shook hands with Wan Jia. It seemed like this company was already set on hiring her and had even prepared an assistant beforehand.
From the chatterbox assistant, Wan Jia learned that the best designers in the company got to style well known artists. This was a company thriving in the entertainment industry and most of their artistes were famous figures in the industry.
The best of the best designers got to be artistes' exclusive designers. That was the greatest honor.
Wan Jia only wanted to gain experience and did not care too much about such things.
During her training period, she would be required to create costumes required for dramas and movies produced by Qing Tai Media. If any of her costumes were acceptable, she would have passed training and would be assigned an artist.
The company building was fairly big and after being taken for a tour around it, she felt very tired.
Her phone rang just as she was about to drop to the floor from exhaustion.
The caller ID swept away all her tiredness away.
"Hello, sweetheart."
The little assistant beside her coughed lightly. She was thinking about introducing Wan Jia to her elder brother. She was just so admirably beautiful. How could she have expected such a goddess to be single?
"Done the interview?" the man asked in a hoarse voice.
"Mmh...I'm so tired and hungry." she whined in a spoilt tone.
"Where are you?I'll come and get you."
"You don't have work to do?"
He glanced at his mountain of documents requiring his attention. "I don't. Send me your location, father wanted to call you over for lunch."
At the mention of her father-in-law, she did not hesitate to share her location.
An hour later, at the old residence.
"Little Wan, eat a little more. You're too skinny." Lu Tongyan urged as he placed more food into her bowl.
"She wants to maintain her figure." Lu Aotian scoffed. He was just jealous that his father had never scooped a dish for him or urged him to eat. Yet he did all this for his wife like it was the most natural thing to do. He had even been shooed away from his father's side and only Wan Jia was allowed to occupy that seat.
"What nonesense! My Little Wan is extremely beautiful. Even if she gains a little more weight, nothing would change." he glared at his obviously jealous son.
After the meal, he finally went down to the main reason he had called them over.
"So, Little Wan, when do the two of you want to start planning your wedding?"
Wan Jia froze. She should have expected such a question.
The old man saw her frozen expression and sighed. It couldn't be that she still hadn't made up her mind, right?
"Father, we still have some...things to settle first." she said, referring to the issue about her birth and family. She glanced at Lu Aotian for help.
"There are indeed some things that we need to be clear about before we can safely settle down."
Lu Tongyan glanced at his son, then at Wan Jia. Although he trusted that what they were saying was true, he could still not be too sure.
The problem was that he was still a little guarded against Wan Jia. What if she was threatened later to leave him? Or what if she was in fact under a threat to play him again?
He would only be completely settled when they really got married and had more kids. The Lu family was too small.
Thinking about it, it was time to start nagging Lu Shaoting, that log of wood, to find a girl and settle down. Maybe he should even find a perfect girl for him among his friends' daughters.
"Little Wan, don't worry too much. Father doesn't want to put pressure on the two of you. I only want the two of you to be happy." he sighed.
"Alright, stop nagging. Do you want to scare my wife away?" Lu Aotian was annoyed.
