After recieving Wan Jia's signal, Lu Shaoting sent his spy cameras into the Yun mansion. He had driven a very simple and low-key car to avoid suspicion. He had parked it in a blind spot near the Yun mansion.
"Yun Jifeng just left the mansion." he said to her. Wan Jia could only recieve instructions but not speak, so she wordlessly entered the mansion. When the servants greeted her, she simply nodded like the real Yun Xuan would do and went to Yun Xuan's room. It was the first blind spot and also the first place Yun Xuan would ever go to whenever she went home. After mentally going through the whole plan, she left the room and went to the second floor. It would be best if no security camera captured her but just in case they did, she walked completely normally like she really lived in this house.
"It would be very tiring to call you sister-in-law in case anything happened, so I'll just call you "Three".
Out of nowhere, she heard Lu Shaoting's voice and almost fainted out of shock. That bastard! And what in the world was Three?
She approached the master bedroom nervously as though she was sneaking into the emperor's treasury. On the long corridor, there was no one but her. She was just less than five steps away when Lu Shaoting's voice came booming again. "Three, we have a problem. Madam Yun is back. She is currently less than ten steps away from the house. Where are you?"
Madam Yun is back? Wan Jia froze.
"Go to Yun Xuan's room. You can leave when she enters her room."
Leave when she enters the room? Then wouldn't her trip and this whole risk be in vain?
She sent a text over [Don't worry about me. Look out for the brothers.]
Lu Shaoting spoke as soon as he saw her message. "You mustn't do anything stupid, or else I will not be the only one killing you."
[Okay. Don't speak to me anymore. Send a message if there's anything.]
Wan Jia walked foward but just when she was about to open the door, she heard foorsteps on the stairs. That had to be Madam Yun. What to do...should she barge into the master bedroom and hide somewhere? Or should she enter another room? That would not be wise. If she accidentally entered one of the brothers' bedroom...
How stupid had she been? Why did she think that she could remember the Yun mansion's outline? If this was four years ago, she would have easily known where to hide.
Before she figured out what to do, Madam Yun was already on the second floor. It was too late to hide. She took a deep breath and flung herself into Madam Yun's arms, intending to run away after distracting her.
Unfortunately, the woman must have known her motives because she grabbed her wrist, not allowing her to move. She hugged her tightly and whispered in her ear, "I know my Xuanxuan, and you are not her. Why are you here?"
Before Wan Jia could answer, she was pulled back to the first floor and shoved into Yun Xuan's room.
"Little Wan! Do you know how dangerous this is? If Xuanxuan's father found you..." Madam Yun started a round of nagging as soon as they were in a blind spot.
Wan Jia looked at her apologetically. "Auntie Yun, I..."
"You what? Like getting yourself in trouble? I'm going to call the police and sue you for tresspassing."
Wan Jia looked up at her pitifully. "Auntie Yun, please don't do that. I won't do it again."
"I will only let you off if you tell me why exactly you are here."
"I..." Although she felt awkward telling Madam Yun about her husband's possible illegitimate child, she had no choice but to tell her the truth. She narrated how she was told that General Yun was her father and doubted it so she wanted to confirm it by stealing a DNA sample. If she was still friends with Yun Xuan, she would have asked her to do it for her.
"Little Wan, do you think that's a good reason to put your life in danger? Have you forgotten what happened the last time you were here?"
"I have not forgotten." she looked down.
"Then what's this? Leave right now."
Wan Jia had a sudden thought. Since General Yun could be her father, could her mother be...
"Auntie Yun, have you ever noticed that my eyes resemble yours?" She had noticed this long ago and thought it was a pleasant coincidence but now that she thought about it clearly, was it possible that they were related?
"What are you getting at?" Madam Yun raised an eyebrow.
Wan Jia gathered her courage. "Are you...are you my mother?"
Madam Yun remained silent for a while before she laughed bitterly. "You think too much. It's just a coincidence."
"You hesitated before you said that."
"Don't overthink it. I only have two sons and one daughter. Oh right...and a step son that I hate with all my blood."
"Oh.." she looked down pitifully. Her anticipation was once again shattered.
Seeing her sad look, Madam Yun's heart ached for her. "I know your mother."
"You do?"
"I suspected that you were related to someone I know some time back and confirmed it not too long ago. She and I...you could say we were in very good terms until you happened."
