Wan Jia sneered. "Okay drama queen. It's not funny. Share your location right now before I get caught. I'll give you what I found and go to settle Yun Xuan."
Lu Shaoting hung up and shared his location. Then he called again in a panicked tone. "Sister-in-law, I'm not joking with you. My brother is back and he..."
Wan Jia interrupted him. "County F is 11 hours away. Even if he departed right now, he would arrive at 10.30 pm.
As she was rambling on, she heard an ear-piercing screech as a car braked. "Aah! Shaoting, are you alright?" she screamed.
"Shaoting?"
She ran to the location he had just sent, but why did it feel like she had heard Lu Shaoting say "bro" right after the screech?
When she arrived, she was met with the scariest pair of eyes she had ever seen. It was as though they had been transmigrated to the apocalypse.
"A..Aotian, you're back." she forced a smile.
"This is your so called surprise, huh? Sure you surprised me. Rushing head-first into danger? Wan Jia, did you pack your brain in my luggage?"
"I..."
Yun Xuan's phone rang. It was Yun Jifeng.
Right now, no matter what, she had to return this phone to its owner or else Lu Aotian wouldn't be the only person killing her.
Luckily, they had chosen a restaurant that was just a few metres away from the Yun mansion. Wan Jia sent Yun Jifeng a message using Yun Xuan's phone. [I'm sorry, something happened to Wanwan and I have to meet her again. I'll go find you when I'm done.]
Yun Jifeng suddenly asked. [Weren't you home just now? I called your nanny.]
Wan Jia's heart almost rolled out through her mouth. A year from today would really be her death anniversary. [I rushed back to pick something for Wanwan. Just wait for me, okay?]
[Where are you meeting her?]
She had to send the name of the restaurant then turn to Lu Aotian who was glaring daggers at her. "Honey, I have to return this phone to Yun Xuan or else I'll die here today. I'll explain everything when I come back okay?" Before he answered her, she ran off.
The effects of the drug had already worn off and Yun Xuan was awake. They had chosen a very mild one that would last just half an hour since she was not going to stay that long in the Yun mansion. Yun Xuan woke up to find herself locked up in a private room.
"Wanwan?" she was still in disbelief when she saw Wan Jia.
"Xuan, I'm sorry I had to do this. Let's switch back clothes, okay?"
Yun Xuan shook her head. "What did you do?"
"I'll explain that later. Yun Jifeng is coming here right now. Yun Xuan, I remember that you still owe me a life..."
"What do you want in return?"
"A life."
"Did you commit a crime and are now wanted by the police? You used my identity, didn't you?"
Wan Jia felt helpless against Yun Xuan's incessant questioning. "I used your identity but I did not commit any crime. I played mind games with your brother, he's on his way here right now and if he finds me out, I will be dead so you have to help me." she rattled off so fast that Yun Xuan almost couldn't hear her.
"Fine."
"Really? Thank you. Here, sorry I used your phone. Just go with the flow."
They switched clothes and just when they were done, Yun Jifeng arrived.
"You're really here Xuanxuan. Just now, I almost thought someone had stolen your phone and was playing a prank on me."
"Who would do that?"
Yun Jifeng still felt something was odd and started looking around in the room. Yun Xuan caught sight of something beside Wan Jia. The blonde wig was peering from her bag! Just in the nick of time, she took off her scarf and flung it at Wan Jia's bag.
"What was that for?" Yun Jifeng was startled.
"It's hers. I was just returning it."
Wan Jia sighed in relief when Yun Jifeng left.
"Thank you Yun Xuan,"
"If you tell me why you impersonated me and went to my home, this matter will come to an end."
Wan Jia could not find any excuse to brush her off, so she told her blankly. "I suspect we could be sisters, so I went to take a DNA sample of your father for confirmation."
Yun Xuan looked at her with a complicated expression. "You just found out?"
Wan Jia did not understand what she meant. "Are you saying that you knew?"
Yun Xuan nodded. "Old Two mentioned it long ago. If not for this incident, I would have forgotten such a thing exists."
"I didn't know. I found out last week."
"But when Old Two said it, he said that you knew it and didn't want to tell me. So I respected your decision and never asked."
Wan Jia did not want to dwell on much discussion with her. "Whatever it is, not I know. I'll have a test later and confirm it. I hope you can..."
Yun Xuan knew what she wanted to say. "You know that I never reveal secrets, right? Don't worry. This matter is safe with me."
"Wanwan."
"Yeah?"
"I hope we are sisters."
Wan Jia frowned and did not respond.
...
Fear crept onto her as soon as she left the restaurant. She had settled the Yuns, now it was time to face her man.
