"Ha ha ha ha ha ha!" Xu Liaowen's laughter filled the air. He was laughing so hard that his tummy ached.
"It's not funny." Lu Shaoting said between gritted teeth.
Xu Liaowen held his tummy and continued laughing. "How is it not funny? Our dear Shaoting was dumped even before the relationship started. Tell me, which part of this is not funny?"
Lu Shaoting really wanted to choke him to death. "Are you done? If you keep laughing too much, your stupid laughter will send your wife into early labour."
He was about to laugh again but Lu Shaoting glared at him. He turned serious. "Seriously Shaoting, how are you so unlucky? All these years, you have never fallen in love and just when you did, she rejected you." Xu Liaowen had no idea that Lu Shaoting had fallen in love before...and with his wife. If he ever found out...
"Is that how you treat your bros? Won't you tell me what to do?"
"Chase her." Xu Liaowen said the two words as though they were very simple.
Chase her? If it were that simple to chase a girl, Mrs. Xu would have been second Mrs. Lu. and Tangtang would be his son. He wouldn't have fallen in love with Su Ling.
"You're too useless. I won't talk to you anymore." He looked at his best friend in disdain. Forget it. I will just ask my brother.
He made his way to Southside Villa. The family of three had just returned from the Lin residence.
"Bro..." he looked dejected.
"What is it this time?"
"She rejected me." If anyone were to hear him, they would think he was a young boy in his early teens complaining to his thirty year old brother. Lu Aotian had no right word to describe him.
"Liaowen said that I should chase her. How should I chase a girl?" He looked like he wanted to whip out a notebook and write the tips.
Lu Aotian gave him a side eye. "Chase her? Too troublesome."
Lu Shaoting rolled his eyes. Yes, yes. It's troublesome because you are Lu Aotian. You only have to look at a girl once and she is already head over heels for you. But I am not you! I still have to chase them, okay?
Lu Aotian's next statement wiped all the words off his brain. "Make her pregnant."
Lu Shaoting: "..."
He continued. " Children from the Lu family can't be brought up away from us. Not only will she have to marry you because of the child, father will also have to accept her. You will have killed two birds with one stone."
Lu Shaoting: "..."
"When you are married, you only have to treat her well and pamper her. She will fall head over heels for you."
Lu Shaoting: "..."
My dear brother, since when do you have such an evil sense imagination? I suddenly feel wronged on behalf of sister-in-law. Is that the strategy you used on her?
In actual fact, Lu Aotian was kidding. However, it was close to impossible to associate Lu Aotian with such a word. Lu Shaoting took the joke too seriously and was in fact considering ways to do it.
...
After Lu Shaoting left, Lu Aotian looked for Wan Jia. She was playing with Little Jia in her toy room. Without saying a word, he carried Wan Jia away. Little Jia was left sighing. Just great. Forget about carrying my Mommy away when I'm peacefully playing with her. Just who, between the two of us, should be carried first? Look at me! I'm lighter, smaller and more adorable. Don't you want to carry me anymore? What happened to 'Daddy loves Little Jia the most?'
In the master bedroom, Lu Aotian placed Wan Jia on the bed. "Why don't you just move in here? It's so troublesome 'stealing' you away every time.
For the past few days, Wan Jia had been falling asleep in her own room but magically waking up in Lu Aotian's bed. She was a somewhat heavy sleeper and rarely felt him carrying her away. Even if she did, she was comfortable with it.
"She rubbed her head against his arm that was still under her head. "If I moved in here, how will I get to enjoy being carried away by President Lu?"
Lu Aotian smiled. Fine, you win.
"When we get married, you will not be allowed to sleep in that room. We can redecorate this room into a princess room if you want it." He thought that perhaps she was unwilling to part with her girly room.
"Forget it. We'll just go for lighter colors but not excessively girly." she said.
He kissed her forehead and lay next to her. "Speaking of which, you have already reunited with your family. Should we start preparing for our wedding?"
Initially they had agreed to get married when they could visit her maiden family and they just did. Wasn't it time to move to the next step?
"Logically we should, but I'm not ready for a wedding yet." she said.
"Then we'll wait till you are ready." he kissed her forehead. He did not want to rush her. He knew that there were still many unsettled things on her mind.
For instance, she did not want to have such a big difference in social status with her husband. At the moment, although their relationship was more or less known, he was still her superior with huge gaps between them. If she narrowed them down, their marriage wouldn't be weird anymore.
