Chapter 274 - I want to walk side by side with you

"Huang International Corp. wants a collaboration regarding the Seven Seas development project. It is a fairly powerful company and you have a full chance of benefit. However, this company has been involved in several cases of money laundering before so you will most probably reject it."

Were Huang Corp.'s money laundering cases so famous that even people who found business boring, like his wife,  knew about them?

Wan Jia put the file aside and opened another one. "Moon and Stars Jewelers sent a proposal for an exchange in jewelry. Whoa, I guess they tried to set up a meeting with you and failed; that's why they decided to send over their proposal instead. Otherwise, sending such a proposal doesn't look like something that happens every day."

Well, they had tried to set up a meeting with him countless times but he had rejected them. She got that right too.

"Anyway, back to the main point. The CEO wants to give you their biggest masterpiece that is precious to their company and has gained tremendous value over the years, "eye the demons" in exchange of one of Elite Fashion World's necklaces, "the diamond heart."

She finished reading out the content of the proposal before analyzing it.

"Logically, "eye of the demons" is at least twice more valuable than "the diamond heart" and anyone would be willing to give it away if the deal is half as tempting as this one is.

For the CEO to want it so much that he can exchange it for a company's treasure, it must be because someone he loves took a liking to "the diamond heart" and wants it by all means. But, you would never give it away because aside from being the first necklace to ever be made by EFW, it is the only piece of jewelry ever designed by…" she paused and changed her next words when he saw her husband's slight change in expression. "…that reputable woman who was not even a designer and only drafted it out of boredom."

That necklace was in fact nothing special. It had only gained so much value because Lu Aotian had been unwilling to give it to anyone since he knew of its existence. He was just a teenager then and he took it to protect it. When he took over the company, he banned everyone from having thoughts of selling it, no matter the price offered.

Lu Aotian's lips twitched at how fast she had evaded that disaster. Well, she was right again.

But it was not too strange either. She was a designer of Lu Enterprises. If she didn't know about EFW's most treasured creation, what would she be doing in the company?

Wan Jia patted her chest in relief as she averted her gaze from the man. It's just a name. Do you have to look so scary? Also, if you hate her so much, why is it that you can't bear to part with the necklace she created?

She believed that what he felt was not hatred but disappointment.

However, she did not dwell on it and moved to the next document.

"BX Group? I don't even need to read the content to know your decision. Although they are allies of the Yan family, they are also secret weapon dealers. You would never collaborate with companies that might tarnish the reputation of Lu Enterprises."

She rambled on the proposals and his most logical decisions about them for quite some time. If it was just one or two documents, it would be a coincidence but how could she get at least 70% of them right? As for the 30%, those were just proposals she found too hard to understand and placed them aside with a frown.

"How do you know all this?" he finally asked.

He was finally convinced that she really knew a thing or two.

"I told you just now, I have been watching you deal with similar matters." Her expression was one that said proudly; you are not the only one who pays attention to my work. I pay attention to yours too.

"You don't need to help me. Your presence is enough." He was worried that if she started helping him out with his work, she would work too hard herself.

Wan Jia placed a hand on his forehead and was satisfied that his fever had subsided. "My love, how can I let my husband work too hard on his own? I don't want to be the useless wife that only knows to rely on her husband, okay?"

She held his hand and played with his beautiful fingers. "I don't want you to carry me all the way to our destination. I want to walk side by side with you."

Well, if she put it that way, he could relent a little. But what happened to his childish little wife that threw tantrums and needed guidance in almost everything? Why did it seem like she had suddenly grown up in minutes?

Seeing that he did not look too convinced, she gave another reason. "I also need the experience for the future when I start my studio. Surely I shouldn't have to rely on you to run it for me, right?" She blinked cutely

He could…but she wouldn't like it.

For this reason, he allowed her to help him out a little.

Most of the documents he received every day were highly confidential and he couldn't let his assistant or secretaries have access to them. However, she was his wife and the lady boss of Lu Enterprises so there was no problem, right?
