Chapter 395 - Sis, you're pregnant?

Agreeing to spend the night in the Lin residence, Wan Jia went out to give her husband a call. 

After displaying her affection for a while, she finally brought up her thoughts about Elder Master Zhang. 

"I'll handle it on my own. Make sure you stay out of trouble." Lu Aotian reminded. 

"I know, I will." Wan Jia felt helpless. Was she so troublesome that Lu Aotian would always link her to making some even when she was being obedient? 

"Baby, you should go to sleep now." 

Lu Aotian felt wronged. "Does my wife not miss me at all?" 

He had had a fair share of witnessing his brother display his affection. At that time, he couldn't call his wife because she had said to wait for her call. Yet now, just five minutes into the call, she wanted to hung up and make him go to sleep? 

Wan Jia chuckled at how spoilt her husband was acting. "Be good. You work too hard. You should have enough rest. I heard that people who don't get enough rest grow old faster. Do you think that if you're no longer handsome, I'll still want you?

"I dare you to say that again." 

"What? I'm just stating the facts." 

"You're only being gutsy because I'm far away." She wouldn't dare to say that to his face. 

Wan Jia chuckled. "Of course I'm taking advantage of the distance. Are you going to punish me?" 

For the first time, Lu Aotian had to admit defeat. 

Feeling victorious, Wan Jia went back in. 

As she went in, she heard her mother's and sister's voices. 

"It's just a birthday. There are many more in future, and didn't she come today? She's even spending the night. Lihua, don't tell her about it; I don't want her to feel sad about it." 

Lin Lihua sighed. "Okay, I won't. I don't want her to feel sad either." 

Wan Jia felt as though her heart had been run over by a truck. 

The previous day was her mother's birthday? 

No wonder she wanted her to go over. But why didn't her mother tell her that it was her birthday dinner? 

She would have made time to go over, even if it meant turning Lu Aotian down. 

Perhaps, that's exactly why Xia Rou didn't tell her. Her birthdays meant nothing to her and she didn't want her daughter to feel at a loss because she couldn't attend it. It was just that this year, it was going to be the first birthday that she spent with her daughter. Alas, she didn't. 

Wan Jia stood on the spot and breathed in slowly. Perhaps she was the only twenty four-year-old who didn't know when her mother's birthday was. Since she missed it, she would get her a present and give it to her randomly. 

Pretending to not have overheard their conversation, she walked up to them. "Mom, sis, I'm back." 

Xia Rou flashed a smile. "You girls go to bed now. I won't bother you anymore. Remember to not set the AC too low. Also..." 

Lin Lihua shoved her nag back to her stomach. "Mom, how old are we? Don't worry, I'll take good care of my sister." 

"You child. It's only because mommy cares about you." 

Being playful tonight, Lin Lihua hugged her mother's arm. "Aiyo, we care about you too. Now, go and keep Mr. Lin company before he starts complaining and pinning the blame on us." 

Xia Rou felt embarassed and left. This child...

In Lin Lihua's room, the Lin sisters had a whole lot of things to talk about. 

"Are you planning your wedding yet? You're not going to have me wait a lifetime before I become a sister-in-law and aunty, right?" 

Lin Lihua looked at her disdainfully. "You always ask that question every time we are together. Can't you change the first statement a little?" 

Wan Jia giggled. "Okay, I'll change the question. My dear beautiful elder sister, when are you going to get married and have kids?" 

"..."

Lin Lihua really wanted to throw her out the window. Do you think you changed anything? 

"Why are you different from everyone else? Most younger sisters will want their elder sisters to remain unmarried a little longer,  because the elder sister will no longer dote on them when she is married. Why is it that you can't wait to send me off? 

Wan Jia hugged her arm and acted cute. "That's because my sister is too beautiful and too nice. So perfect that I wish for her happiness to come sooner." 

"Oh Wanwan, you're the best little sister on earth." 

"And you are the best elder sister in the universe." 

Lin Lihua rubbed her younger sister's hair. "Little Wan, you will be an aunt in just a few weeks." 

Wan Jia's head exploded in shock. "Sis, you're pregnant? How come nobody told me?" Her eyes imediately fell on Lin Lihua's stomach and her waist that was so thin that Henry Blanc's mother kept urging her to eat more. 

"I'm not pregnant, silly. Henry and I are adopting a child. She will be ours as soon as we get married." 

"You want to adopt one before having your own?" Would the Blancs really treat that child well? 

"Don't worry. My future parents in law don't mind. Actually, I wanted to wait and get married first but I met a little girl..." 

Since she came of age, Lin Lihua would always visit orphanages and gift food, stationery or clothes to children. 

"The little girl I met is just the same as I was when I was little, before mom and dad found me. Doesn't like speaking to anyone, malnourished and no one likes her. I can't watch her stay in there anymore but they won't let us adopt her before our marriage." 

Since she felt this was Lin Lihua's most delicate topic, Wan Jia didn't want to talk about it for too long. "Sis, you and Henry Blanc make a perfect match."
