Chapter 481 - Troublesome

Lin Lihua exchanged some small talk with the orphanage director before going to her point. "Where's my Ruoxi?" 

The director was prepared for this question but she still looked surprised. "Megastar Lin, if I may be audacious to ask, do you really want to adopt this girl?" 

Lin Lihua had heard this question so many times that her ears were almost getting calluses. "I don't care about how everyone dislikes her and all that." 

She took out her marriage booklet that was only less than an hour old. "Your precondition was that I should be married, right? I am married now. So do I qualify to be her mother?" 

The director looked at the marriage booklet keenly. "Usually, we do not accept people whose marriage is not stable yet. Of course, it is too soon to tell about yours. 

However, you are a kind person. Although you have always kept quiet about your numerous charity donations to different orphanages, gold cannot be hidden forever. Any child who is adopted by you will be very lucky so... if you want to complete the adoption procedures today, we can do so as soon as you say the word." 

The director looked like he had made a huge decision. 

Lin Lihua was elated. "Sure. Can I see her?" 

The director gave instructions to someone. 

Soon, a young lady led a small girl in. Although she was seven, she was at least a head shorter than other girls her age and looked six or five and a half. 

She had her eyes looking down as she walked in, her pale face leading the way. The girl was so thin that a gust of wind might break her into half. She was biting her lips so hard that they were almost bruised. Obviously, she was nervous. 

That was the girl Lin Lihua wanted to adopt, Ruoxi. 

Lin Lihua inwardly vowed to feed her well and make her healthy. "Hello Ruoxi, my name is Lin Lihua, and he is Henry Blanc. You can call us Mum and Dad from now on." 

The girl was obviously shocked. Someone wanted to adopt her? It was not a mistake, right? And it was even Lin Lihua? 

She knew Lin Lihua because she had seen her come to this orphanage some times before. The last time, she had even given her a present.

She shook her head almost reflexively. "You should adopt Momo instead. She is prettier and more adorable, and everyone likes her. She is a beter choice than me." 

Lin Lihua's heart clenched when she heard her tone. Who taught such a young child to recommend others because she did not think she was good enough? 

Though she wondered, if the said Momo was that good, why was she still in the orphanage? She should have been adopted long ago. She knew from her own past that some kids seemed adorable and likeable but if one were to check closely, they were spoilt little kids. It made one wonder who exactly spoiled them to that level.

She took Ruoxi's hand. "But I don't want that Momo girl. The child I want is you." 

Ruoxi curled her lips slightly into a smile. No one had ever shown her such affection since she was brought to this place. As though afraid that Lin Lihua might change her mind, she nodded her head. 

Lin Lihua and Henry Blanc  filled and signed the adoption forms fast. 

"From this minute, your surname is Blanc. We are your legal parents." Henry Blanc explained. 

She nodded her head and looked at Henry Blanc shyly. "F-father." 

Henry Blanc rubbed her head, his heart filling with paternal love for her. 

The girl did not have friends, so she had no one to say goodbye to. She had no personal belongings either, the only one being a small stuffed bear. Inside the bear was an immensely valuable pendant that had been gifted by her mother when she was younger. 

It was extremely expensive; rumor had it that it was from a subsidiary company of Lu Enterprises. 

However, everyone thought the teddy bear was just a toy. This was her little secret. It explained why when the other girl called Momo tried to take the teddy bear from her, she had shown her claws for the first time and fought her. 

She carried the doll and walked to her new father Henry Blanc.

Lin Lihua had a word with the orphanage director before walking towards them. 

Ruoxi hugged her toy tightly to her chest. At this point, she was still scared that Lin Lihua might have returned with a change of mind and decided to take her back in there. 

"Let's..." She was going to say to go home but her phone rang. She excused herself to pick it. 

"Sis." The voice came as soon as the call was connected. 

Lin Lihua was a bit surprised. Why was the call coming at this time? 

"What is it? I told you to stay away from me."

"Can you come to Country F right now?" 

Lin Lihua narrowed her eyes. She had been in Country F just a day ago. Did this young man know that she would be tired? She closed her eyes and wanted to heartlessly hung up. 

"Sis, please. This will be the last time I ever call you. See you tomorrow at noon. I'm hunging up, bye." 

The tooting sound followed. The guy really hung up. 

Lin Lihua held her breath with her phone still in her hand. 

She did not want to entangle herself with this young man. However, he was really too pitiful. Besides, they had been siblings before...

Nevertheless, she had to settle things with him once and for all. Although it had been for Xia Rou's sake that she looked for him in the first place, it was also for Xia Rou's sake that she was letting him go.
