Chapter 555 - Possessed by Arya

"I will give you one minute to prepare for it."

Lu Meili took it and took a look. For the sake of fairness, her scene was captured on camera. It looked quite easy to do it because there was no conversation. However, that was the most difficult part- she had to express her feelings without a single word. She could only do it by the most important part of this movie- dancing.

She read it once and put the script aside.

Then in the next second, her eyes lost focus. Slowly, she started dancing.

She tripped in the second move but didn't stop. Her ankle hurt from the twist. However, it was worth the pain if she was going to prove that traitor Xu Tang wrong.

Somewhere in the backstage, Annie Lan gritted her teeth.  That scheming b*tch! How could she get herself a new scene?

She harrumphed and sauntered over to someone in her high heels. As though naturally, she gave the person a stack of bills. "Help me do something. This is just the deposit."

The live broadcast was filled with a new round of comments. [Is my Little angel's foot hurt? She looks like she is sucking up the pain.]

[Looks like it. She tripped terribly but didn't give up.]

[Meili, you don't have to try too hard. It's just a role, I will still be your fan even if you lose it.]

[Me too.]

On the stage, the music suddenly stopped. The song changed to a different one which was much faster.

Obviously, Lu Meili fell out of beat. However, she didn't stop dancing. Neither did she try to go with the new song's beats.

"Why isn't she changing?!" Annie Lan gritted her teeth.

She was preparing to play Lu Meili like a fool.

But she couldn't possibly do so… because Lu Meili wasn't listening.

She wasn't dancing to the music on stage but to the one in her heart.

All of a sudden, she knocked her leg against the wall. She fell from the impact. However, she stood right up and continued, her eyes welling up but she couldn't let her tears fall. Her eyes were devoid of any focus. Paired with the fall just now, those who didn't know would think she was blind.

All eleven of the judges had tears in their eyes.

When the performance ended, silence overcame the stage. The girl who had tears in her eyes just now was suddenly cheerful, and she looked at the judges.

Lin Lihua's pen fell and brought the others back to reality.

"You…" the first judge didn't have the right words to explain his sentiments.

The screenwriter was emotional. "Are you sure you were not possessed by Arya?"

Arya was the character Lu Meili was auditioning for. She had started having problems with ehr eyesight as a teenager and by the time she discovered her extraordinary talent and passion to dance, she was already completely blind. 

All those actresses from earlier seemed to have forgotten this detail which was small, yet of extreme importance. 

"Not only did you remember that Arya is blind, you also put in mind that she was just starting to learn to dance in this scene." 

Now the lack of focus in her eyes made sense. The fall also made sense. If one was blind, they would obviously make some mistakes, especially when learning to dance.

At that moment, no one needed words to agree that Lu Meili's performance was the best.

However, no one would anticipate the seventh judge to speak up. "Although your performance is outstanding, it doesn't excuse the fact that you have been treated differently from everyone else. Everyone acted out scene 210. Who are you to act out a different one?"

Following his words, many people's opinions changed. That was right. Why was Lu Meili the only one who acted a different scene?

Even the judges thought it made sense. It was rather unfair for this to happen.

Lu Meili spoke up. "Allow me to explain this."

The judges stopped discussing and looked at her.

"If I acted scene 210, I would have been accused of plagiarism. Someone sneakily copied my routine and dress. Not only that, she also schemed to have me come on stage right after her. I only managed to appear in a different dress because I had carried one in case of an emergency."

The seventh judge laughed. "Miss, aren't you too audacious? Are you accusing Annie Lan of plagiarism? You should know that you could be sued for defamation."

"I only spoke up because everyone needed an explanation. It's the truth so I have nothing to be afraid of."

The judge was on Annie Lan's side, so he couldn't let it go. "Who is to say that you didn't come up with this and make arrangements with the screenwriter and director beforehand?"

Lu Meili chuckled lightly. "Mister, are you saying that artists from HL Entertainment need to scheme?"

The other judges burst into laughter, including Lin Lihua. Forget about being from HL Entertainment. She was the nation's top actress and everyone had seen her performance just now. Did she still need to scheme?

The seventh judge had nothing more to say. Sorry Annie, I tried my best.

The live broadcast was still on.

"For this role, Lu Meili has been chosen." Xu Tang announced.

Earlier when he said he was speechless, he meant that he didn't have the right words to describe the shamelessness of some people.

How dare Annie Lan use Lu Meili's performance to audition?

How in the world was she even able to do that? If he remembered correctly, no one else saw Lu Meili dance. He had to pursue this before Lu Meili misunderstood him.

He was oblivious to the fact that he had already been misunderstood.

"Lu Meili has been chosen my ass! To think he has the audacity to say this so confidently." Lu Meili was on the verge of erupting like a volcano.

He betrayed her, and now he effortlessly acts as though nothing happened?
