Chapter 560 - Date

The next evening, Lu Meili wore a peach-colored dress and styled her long hair into curls.

"Your new hairstyle is amazing." Wan Jia was the first to comment. She no longer looked like the cute little angel that she was. She looked more mature and elegant, with a kind of aura that made her a perfect aristocratic lady.

"Thanks mom, I'll leave now."

"Don't come back too late." She said.

Lu Meili laughed it off. Why would she be back late from the first date with a man she had not met before?

While Lu Xian Li interjected. "Mother, she's going on a date. It's alright if she comes back late as long as her future husband brings her home. Actually, it's alright too if she doesn't return at all."

Lu Meili frowned. "Lu Xian Li, this is not a television drama." Wouldn't that be progressing too fast? Besides, "I heard Lu Enterprises is facing a crisis. Lu Xian Li, don't you think you are focusing on the wrong matters?"

Lu Xian Li yawned smugly. "Why would Lu Enterprises face a crisis? It's just that some shareholders don't want to keep their noses to themselves and are questioning dad about the next heir. That's nothing to worry about, right? Daddy has three kids anyway and Uncle has two. So many heirs to choose from. "

Lu Meili wasn't listening. Few things bored her and one of them was running a company. She had nothing against it; perhaps she might have to help Xu Tang out one day. Lu Xian Li glanced at her sister's back. If this was a movie and she was the screenwriter, Lu Meili wouldn't ever go out with another man.

She didn't believe even for one second that there was any man out there who could make Lu Meili as happy as she deserved to be. There was only one such man – Xu Tang.

Wait, why was she minding her sister's business again? She had to prove to those shareholders that she was capable of handling such a huge multibillion company despite her pitiably young age.

The venue they had agreed on was neither too far nor too close to Southside Villas.

By the time Lu Meili arrived at Pearl hotel, her date had been waiting for quite some time. She had been caught up in traffic thanks to an accident that happened on the road when she was on her way.

She went to the private room that had been booked in the name of her date. "You must be Young master Mu. Hello, sorry I'm late."

Following the sweet voice that broke into his ears without warning, the man lifted his head. In the next second, he had to rub his eyes. What was he seeing?

Lu Meili grew nervous from that piercing gaze. She couldn't be totally sure that it held pure intentions. "Did I get the wrong person?"

"No. My name is Mu Zhichen. You must be Lu Meili, right?" he originally didn't dare to ask, but after scanning her for a while, he deduced that she was nothing like how Lu Xian Li was described. There could only be one possibility – she was Lu Meili!

Like a gentleman, he pulled a chair for her. Luckily, it wasn't too late.

Lu Meili ignored his weird behavior a while ago and sat down.

Now the trouble began. The two of them couldn't find any topic to talk about. It felt awkward. Especially since Lu Meili felt this man was acting rather weird.

The man coughed. "What's a beautiful woman like you doing on a blind date? Logically, men should be fawning all over you like ants on an anthill, right?"

As soon as he said that, he realized that he should have kept his mouth shut. What would she think of him? Would she take him for a flirtatious man?

He studied Lu Meili's expression, which looked like she had indeed taken the wrong meaning to his words. 

He didn't mean to flirt with her, okay? He only meant the literal meaning of his words.

Lu Meili dropped the matter. The purpose of a blind date was to find a marriage partner, right? It should not be wrong for a man to say a few cheesy words to his potential future wife. 

Soon, they made their orders. 

"Why don't we drink some wine first? The dishes will be served soon." Mu Zhichen suggested. 

Lu Meili took a glance at the unscrewed bottle of wine and the stem glasses at the side. Without thinking much, she stopped the beatiful waitress who was on her way out. "Could you bring me another stem glass?" 

The waitress was curious but didn't ask. "Right away miss." 

Mu Zhichen's hand that was reaching for the wine bottle trembled a little. No sense of trust at all? Did he look like the kind of man who would play tricks to get a woman drugged? 

But he could understand her reason...

As soon as Lu Meili looked at Mu Zhichen again, she realized just what her action her implied. This couldn't get any more awkward. 

"Young Master Mu, it's not that I suspect you. I'm an actress and... " she didn't know what else to say.

Mu Zhichen laughed. "I know. That's why I understand your action just now. I've heard a lot about the entertainment industry. There's no such thing as too much caution in that field. It must have become part of you over the years." 

Lu Meili felt happy that he understood. When she was a newbie, someone had tried to drug her. Luckily she caught the person in action but since then, she would never let her guard down around anyone. 

Since she had already asked for a new glass, she could only use it. It would be more awkward if she used the ones previously on the table.
