Chapter 562 - About to be a grandma

Wan Jia chuckled. Of course they had just met. That was why she was not asking when their engagement party or wedding would be. 

From the looks of it, that young man wasn't bad. After all, Lu Meili didn't come back home hurling insults and cursing him like many women would do after meeting hooligans on their blind dates. 

She felt happy. If there was a man good enough to replace Xu Tang in her daughter's heart, she would not be against it. Instead of sticking onto a man who didn't love her and getting heartbroken, it would be better if she married another man. 

But most importantly, "honey, don't be in a hurry, okay? I don't want you to regret your decisions." 

"I know mum."

Ruoxi paced in the study. Time was running out. She had not yet managed to get into Le Blanc Group. How then, would she take it over? 

"What's wrong?" Lin Lihua asked when she entered the study and saw her looking restless. 

Ruoxi smiled and rushed to her. "It's nothing mother. I'm just worried." 

"What's getting you so worked up?" 

Ruoxi didn't dare to meet Lin Lihua's eyes. She stuck her fingertips together. "I... I missed my period. I think I could be pregnant." 

Lin Lihua couldn't be more shocked, but she didn't let it show. "That's good news. Why don't you look happy?" 

Ruoxi looked at her quizzically. "You're not angry that I'm pregnant when I'm not even married yet?" 

"Why would I be mad? You are already a grown up woman. Do you want to wait until you're thirty before you think about it?" 

"Of course not. Mother, thank you. I will go to take a detailed test in hospital." 

"Why don't we go right now?" Lin Lihua suggested.

"Now mother? Isn't it too late?"

Lin Lihua grabbed her hand. "Of course not. I'm going to become a grandma. How can it be too late? Let's go."

Ruoxi had nothing more to say. She followed Lin Lihua's lead out.

"Wait a second, I'll grab my purse." Lin Lihua rushed to her room first.

Ruoxi played with her red fingernails. "The effect of this is gonna be better than I thought. Sorry baby, mama had to use you like this." She had truly missed her period, but her pregnancy wasn't confirmed yet. She hoped she was really pregnant. If she wasn't…. well, Lin Lihua would still believe that she was.

Lin Lihua picked her phone, car keys and purse and returned really quickly. "Let's go. I'm driving."

"Interesting." Henry Blanc whose presence had been overlooked all this while mumbled.

"What is up with them?" Katy was as curious as a cat.

"I don't know. But Lihua seems… quite strange."

Katy raised an eyebrow. She had also found Lin Lihua a little strange lately. To be exact, she had been strange for a long time but it was getting weirder lately. It was as though she was suppressing something. Aunty, what's going on?

The next time Lu Meili met Mu Zhichen, not many days had passed. She had in fact begun filming and when she was given a two-day break, she gave Mu Zhichen a call.

This time, Mu Zhichen didn't want to meet in a restaurant. "Why don't we watch a movie together? Coincidentally, I know a really nice movie whose sequel is being released today.

Lu Meili didn't particularly enjoy watching movies because she knew too much about special effects and illusions. However, she really wanted to leave the house so she agreed to it.

That evening, she wore a pair of shorts and a white t-shirt. It was quite a breath of fresh air from the gowns and dresses she wore every day. Her fans wouldn't recognize her today because she was wearing a wig and had make up that made her look different.

"You are going out with Mu Zhichen?" Lu Aotian was doing what he always did when sitting in te living room – reading a magazine – when he saw Lu Meili walk past him.

"Yes. We are going to the movies."

"Why don't you bring him home for your mother to see?"

Lu Meili's head almost exploded. "What? Isn't it too early for that?"

Lu Aotian put aside his business magazine. "There's no such thing as 'too early' in a blind date marriage. Are you trying to imply that you should take it slow with Zhichen, date for years and when you realize that you are not truly compatible, break up and go on another blind date?"

Lu Meili had no word to retaliate. He did make sense. If she was going to take it slow, she should have looked for a friend instead, not a blind date. "I'll bring him home then."

"Good. When you are ready, you should pay a visit to your Uncle Mu."

Lu Meili didn't find it unpleasant. This was normal, right? The last time, Mu Zhichen had casually said that he was on a blind date because he was under immense pressure to get married. It was no surprise that she was being half-rushed too.

Lu Aotian didn't tell her that he wished for her to be engaged soon. Although that was what he wanted, it was already enough pressure that he was sending her to the Mu residence to pay a visit to her future in-laws.

Pushing everything to the back of her mind, Lu Meili left the house.

"You are here to pick me up?" She was surprised when she saw Mu Zhichen's car pull to a stop and the man step out.

He gave a rose stalk to her. "It's been long since I last saw Uncle Lu. I thought I could say hi to him and pick you up in the process."

Lu Meili knew it was an excuse but didn't expose him.
