Chapter 584 - Why do you all hate me?

Lu Shaoting looked at the girl carefully. "I understand that you really want to go overseas to study. However, what's up with the part about changing your nationality? Why do you make it seem like you don't want to ever come back?" 

"Because I don't. I have already decided that I don't want to be a part of this family anymore. Uncle, let me go." 

Lu Shaoting didn't know what to say anymore. No matter what, this was between his brother and his niece. He couldn't meddle too much. 

However, Lu Aotian's look was too terrifying. One would this had nothing to do with him. 

He stood up. "I'm giving you a last chance. I'll give you two days to think about it. Go back to your room." 

"I don't need it. I have already made up my mind!" Lu Xian Li was adamant. 

"Then you leave me with no other choice." 

"Daddy, wait." Lu Meili knew from that look that he might just lock Lu Xian Li up. It wouldn't end well if it reached that point. "I'll speak to her." 

Before Lu Aotian could say anything, Lu Meili took the young lady's hand and dragged her away.

"Sis, let go of me!" Lu Xian Li protested.

"I won't let you go. Bite me." Lu Meili pulled her upstairs.

Lu Xian Li wouldn't be stronger than her sister, so her shouts ans struggle were all for nothing.

Lu Meili pulled her to her room and locked the door, securing the key in her own pocket.

"What do you want?" Lu Xian Li was so angry she was about to burst into tears.

Lu Meili sat on her bed as though the person who had just forcefully dragged her sister here was not her. "How interesting. The day daddy announced his successor, my little sister tried to run away from home. Is this a coincidence... or does it have something to do with his decision?"

"It's none of your business."

Lu Meili guffawed. "Don't think too much of yourself. I'm not trying to understand you. I'm just making sure daddy doesn't vent his anger on us because of you. Why else would I care about your business?"

"You…"

"Weren't you so lively a moment ago? Cat got your tongue?" Lu Meili taunted. "Lu Xian Li, it's alright to want freedom since you have never been given enough of that. But do you have to donate an organ? Even you know that your body can't take it."

She looked into the girl's eyes. "Aren't you doing this to infuriate daddy? You him to think I've been a bad sister and vent his fury on me, don't you?"

Lu Xian Li was on the verge of exploding from anger. "You are twisting facts!"

"Am I? You are still very young but all you have ever cared for is taking over the company. It's all to satisfy your greed. Did I lie about this?"

Lu Xian Li felt wronged. "Is that what you have always thought of me?"

"Yes." Lu Meili unlocked the door. "I don't want to breath the same air with scheming people. Leave."

Lu Xian Li stood up. "I don't want to be here either."

Lu Meili tittered. "I was wondering how to get rid of you. Luckily you did it yourself. I don't need to use any effort."

Tears welled up in Lu Xian Li's eyes. "Why do you hate me? Sis why… why do you all hate me?"

Lu Meili gripped her phone. As expected, that worked. But... hate her?

"You all think I shouldn't have existed, right?"

"Why do you say that?" She probed.

"Because it's true. I know everything. I know that when mother was expecting me, you all thought I would be a boy. You were displeased when I turned out to be a girl, right? That's why everyone loves and pampers Xian Yu but no one cares about me. In fact, the first time you saw me, you cried and threw a tantrum because you wanted a brother.

Actually, I wouldn't have been born if you didn't fall sick, would I?"

Lu Meili's face went pale. Who told her that? The whole family had agreed that no one should ever mention it. She gripped her phone tightly.

Lu Xian Li chuckled. "Hah. From your reaction, it must be true. The only reason I was born is to save you and that's it. Thinking about it, you and Xian Yu make quite a loving pair of siblings. I'm obviously the outsider."

"Is that why you dislike me?" Lu Meili cautiously asked.

"Why else? I'm not a real member of this family. No matter how I try, I'll never be like you. Daddy will never love me half as much as he loves you even if I worked my head off.

What's the point? It was better to be the bad child who does nothing but cause trouble. At least they would have time to think about me.

Since this doesn't work either, why do you still want to keep me?"

Lu Meili was still in shock. How could such a young child hold that amount of hatred?

Who in the world told her that her parents didn't care about her? And she…

"Xian Li…"

"What? Why are you coming towards me?"

"I don't hate you. In fact, I love you very much."

"You are lying." Lu Xian Li's tears finally fell, making Lu Meili feel guilty.

"You have always kept your distance from everyone. You have always been so busy that the only person you spend time with is dad and that is only when you have official business to discuss with him. As for me, you were always either trying to pick arguments with me or avoiding me. Tell me how I was supposed to deal with…"

"That's because I was jealous." Lu Xian Li blurted out.

"What?" Lu Meili stopped mid-sentence. "Stop kidding. You have everything I have and even more. Why would you be jealous of me?"

"I wasn't jealous of you. I was jealous because of you. Everything you had was so dear to you. Your toys, your flowers, friends…. And when you became famous, your fans were more important than everything else. But no matter what I destroyed to get your attention, you would still ignore me.  Am I that deplorable?"

Lu Meili looked at the girl and suddenly burst into laughter.

"Are you laughing at me?"

"I guess you're no longer sad. You are even telling me such things." She pulled the girl to sit back on the bed. "Do you know why I didn't pay attention to you? I thought you liked ruining my things when you were upset. You looked so happy after doing it that I didn't have the heart to scold you."

"Are you… telling the truth? It's not because you were so angry that if you spoke to me, you would beat me up?" Lu Xian Li wiped her tears away.

"Of course not. Why would I beat you up? Though I must admit you are the worst troublemaker on earth. Sometimes I really wished I could give you a generous beating but that's it. That's not considered as me hating you, right?"

Lu Xian Li felt like she was the most stupid fool. "And here I was thinking that you wouldn't spare me a glance because I wasn't worth it."

"Seriously, you are so dumb. Couldn't you have asked me? We fought for years just because of this?"

"You never made effort to ask me either so we're even."

"Fine. I guess we will never stop arguing even if the air around us is cleared."

"Heh…"       

"Speaking of which, who were you going to give your kidney to?"

Lu Xian Li looked sad like she didn't want to remember it. "A friend I met in middle school. Her kidneys have been failing for a long time and her family won't make any effort to find her a donor. She might not live for long if she doesn't get one soon."

Lu Meili really wanted to knock her head. "That doesn't make it right for you to risk your own life. What's so good about ruining your own health for her?"

"What should I do, let her die? I love her very much."

Lu Meili massaged her temples. "Who gave you an IQ test? You must have bribed them. Are you trying to say that there is no one else on earth whose kidneys are compatible with hers?

By the way, the doctor who let you sign that organ transplant document has to be sued."

"No. Don't cause trouble for anyone. I'm the one who insisted on it but I will find her another donor."

Lu Meili smiled. This was settled. And now for the biggest question... "Xian Li, I'm curious. How did you know about the past? How did you know that I was sick and what made you think it's the only reason why you were born?"
