When the wedding ended, the guests started to leave.
However, Lu Meili's friends had drunk quite a bit and wanted to have more fun. As the groom wanted to enter the bridal room, the bunch of girls blocked his path.
"I'm sorry young master Mu. If you want to enter this room, you will have to hand us red packets and pass our test." Lu Xian Li spoke, her expression proud like she had an invaluable treasure in her possession.
"That's right." Small Xixi went along. It's not going to be easy to take my Sis Meili away.
"Agreed." Katy was here too.
Mu Zhichen took a look at the bunch of girls, including Lu Xian Li, Shen Yue, Small Xixi, Katy and a few of their friends.
He understood what they were playing at, but accomodated them because it was his big day.
He called his assistant and asked him to bring red packets for all the girls.
The girls were amazed by the generous amounts and grinned happily.
"Before the test, you have to do a task first." Shen Yue said. "We cannot skip this."
"Okay. What's the task?"
"Do ten push ups... shirtless."
"Eh?!"
Let alone Mu Zhichen, even the girls were shocked. She was asking the groom to strip and do push ups?
Mu Zhichen racked his brains. He couldn't possibly do that. But thinking about it, it was exactly why Shen Yue gave such a task.
In the next moment, he grabbed one of the groomsmen who was just passing by and minding his own business.
"What is it?"
"Take off your shirt and do ten push ups." Mu Zhichen said, his tone allowing no room for negotiation.
The poor groomsman was confused. What was this all about?
"I'll owe you." Mu Zhichen said, making the man quickly strip of his shirt and do push ups.
They were on an island. No one would mind him anyway.
As he did his push ups, he thought he felt a particular scorching gaze on him or to be exact, on his chest.
He looked up just in time to see a pair of eyes look away quickly. He laughed and went on.
Only when he was done did Shen Yue snap from her daze. "Hey! I said do ten push ups shirtless, not drag a friend to do them."
Mu Zhichen smiled slyly. "You only said to do push ups. You didn't say they were exclusive for me."
He was forcing logic, but Shen Yue couldn't do anything about it.
Besides, the girls felt it was candy to their eyes and didn't want to waste the groomsman's effort.
"Fine. You pass."
And now for the test.
Mu Zhichen knew that this kind of test wouldn't possibly be won by him on his own so he dragged more of his friends to help him out.
Lu Xian Li coughed when she saw the new group of men. "Ahem... each of us is going to ask you a question. If you pass, you go to the next. If you fail any question, the test starts all over."
"What?"
"You're kidding, right?" Mu Zhichen's friends couldn't believe they had been dragged into this. It was going to be impossible to win against girls!
Small Xixi rolled her eyes at their shock. "What's wrong? The woman inside that room is the nation's little beauty and you want to have her to yourself. Do you think it's supposed to be easy?"
The men were speechless.
Fine, she made sense.
"Bring it on."
Katy was first. "If you didn't marry Lu Meili today, who would you marry?"
Mu Zhichen was rendered speechless. What was the difference between this and asking him to strip and do push ups?
Katy predicted an answer and crossed her arms. "I will not take 'no one' for an answer. I don't believe you would remain single forever."
Mu Zhichen didn't need to think too much about this. "Meili and I got married, there is no such thing as 'if'. We are destined to be together and that's it. Even in our next lifetime, we can only belong to each other."
Katy was speechless. Couldn't you answer that without force-feeding us dog food?
The other girls proceeded to ask questions, but because they didn't know Lu Meili that well, their questions were easy to find answers to.
"Who is Meili's closest cousin?" Small Xixi asked. "You have to get this one right on the first try."
Of course if it wasn't restricted, he could simply guess the names of everyone in the Lu and Lin families.
"Lu Shihan."
Mu Zhichen wasn't the one who answered, Lu Xian Yu did. He had just joined the group for fun and didn't expect to be of use.
His action earned a glare from his second sister. "Xian Yu, shouldn't you be on our side?"
He shrugged his shoudlers. He was on his eldest sister's side, and his eldest sister wanted to have fun with the groom.
"At what age did Lu Meili debut?"
"Fifteen."
"Ninth question. Which birthday present does my sister treasure the most, who gave it to her and how old was she?"
Mu Zhichen didn't think too hard. "The ruby necklace that father-in-law gave to her on her sixteenth birthday."
Lu Xian Li was prepared to say 'wrong' but she was stunned. She had told him this? Then it meant their relationship was very good.
"The final question..." everyone looked at Small Xixi.
"On Sis Meili's ninth birthday, which dress was she wearing and where did she get it? You have to get it right on the first try."
Mu Zhichen was speechless.
Forget about Mu Zhichen. Even Lu Xian Li couldn't remember this. Not even Katy who was older at the time could recall it. She was surprised that Small Xixi asked this.
Mu Zhichen instinctively looked at Lu Xian Yu.
The boy looked at him innocently. "I wasn't born."
Urgh... right. Lu Meili was turning nine. He was born when she was ten.
"Can't get it, huh?" Small Xixi and the girls looked proud like they had won.
"Countdown to five and you lose."
The girls started counting in chorus. "Five...
Four
Three
Two"
"A lacy white dress designed by Xia Rou." A voice filled the air.
Everyone looked at the person who spoke. This guy...
Those who didn't know thought it was luck, those who knew remained silent.
"We will take our leave now." Katy said and dragged the girls away with her. If they continued lurking here, Mu Zhichen would get angry and consequently, they wouldn't hear the end of it from Lu Meili.
___
After 'Fighting a deadly battle' with those girls, Mu Zhichen finally set foot into the bridal room.
Sitting on the bed was his little wife, still clad in her wedding gown. Apparently, she needed help unhooking the veil and unzipping the gown.
The floor was covered in a layer of red rose petals, with burning candles arranged to form a path to the bed.
The beddings were pure white and there was a huge heart shape at the center, made of rose petals.
The red, white, and the yellowish color of the flames from the candles mixed perfectly, emmiting a warm and romantic atmosphere.
The woman on the bed, however, was evidently nervous.
She became even more nervous when he walked over and sat beside her on the bed.
Mu Zhichen was not an innocent little boy. He would be an idiot if he didn't figure out why she was nervous.
He raised a hand to unhook the veil off her head. "If you are not ready, we can postpone our wedding night 'business' to when you are comfortable." He said patiently.
Lu Meili turned and hugged him. "Thank you."
He was really too understanding.
When Small Xixi was helping her dress up, she showed her the almost invisible hooks on the waist of her gown which she could unhook a few layers of the skirt off, along with the long train. What would remain would look like a normal gown. Wan Jia sure was thoughtful.
She took them off and got rid of the tiara as well. She was now more comfortable. Although she liked her bridal gown, it was tiresome to stay in those layers of cloth for such a long time.
"Are you going to take a bath first?" Mu Zhichen asked, his eyes unintentionally darting towards the bathroom door.
Lu Meili followed his line of sight and could see everything inside in a flash. "Uhm..."
This was wedding suite. There was nothing strange about a transparent bathroom door, but why did it make her feel awkward?
"You... you go first. I will not look at you." She stammered, her face scarlet. She didn't dare to look him in the eye.
She would find a way to handle this once he was out.
Mu Zhichen chuckled at his blushing wife, smacked a kiss on her face and left for the bathroom.
...
Seconds later, Lu Meili heard the sound of running water.
She gulped. He was using the shower?
Unintentionally, she pictured his silhouette behind that door, standing straight and water pouring down his skin from the showerhead. She had the insatiable urge to take a look.
He was so handsome. He must be even more handsome without clothes on, right?
"Damn it Lu Meili! Since when were you such a pervert?" She admonished herself, but her eyes were still under strong waves of temptation.
No. She promised to not look. He might feel his privacy has been invaded.
Minutes later, her heart was racing wildly.
Er... If she took just a quick tiny peek, he wouldn't notice, right?
