Chapter 617 - Haven't eaten a grain of rice all day

The man raised his eyebrows in contemplation. 

"Wan Jia's second child is way younger than that. Lin Lihua cannot have a baby that old even if she got pregnant on the first day of her marriage. Just whose child is that?"

The woman next to that man smacked his head. "We are here to investigate someone else. It's not time to start looking at people who are not our targets and butting into their lives." 

The man didn't think he had done anything wrong. "Can't I be curious? Aren't you curious that Xia Rou is holding a baby, too?" 

"That's none of my damn business. Now, back to work." 

"I wish I was able to see that baby's face. I have a strange feeling about it." 

"Piss off." The woman roles her eyes. 

At this moment, a burly man dressed in black appeared at their hiding spot. 

"What are you doing here?" 

The pair froze. The woman glared at the man. It was all his fault. They wouldn't have been caught if he didn't waste time looking at some kid. 

"We are waiting for someone." She replied calmly. 

The bodyguard took the binoculars out of the man's hands, as well as the woman's. "I don't think you need this to wait for someone. Just so you know, I will not be this kind if I still catch you spying on our madam." He left after glaring at the pair intimidatingly.

A few minutes later, in the parking lot. 

"Xuanxuan, you can get out now." 

Yun Xuan left the car nervously and looked around. "Who was it?" 

"I don't know yet. Number five will find out since he went to take a look." 

Just now when they arrived, Xia Rou suddenly told her to remain in the car for a while. Apparently, suspicious people had been noticed spying around.

She couldn't make head or tail of what was going on but she followed the instructions out of her trust for Xia Rou. 

At that moment, Xia Rou's lips had curled into a sneer. 

She knew that there were people that Yun Xuan didn't want to meet again in this lifetime. One of them just happened to be near the hospital, doing what he was best at - butting his nose where it least belonged. 

Although it was purely a coincidence, how could she let him see Yun Xuan? 

Luckily Yun Feng was wearing a cap. When she got off the car, he had buried his head against her chest so his face wasn't seen either. It would have been troublesome for Yun Xuan.

After that interlude, Yun Xuan carried her baby into the pediatric unit. 

Vaccinating a baby didn't take that long. They were done in a few minutes.

Like any other pair of mother and baby, Yun Feng's face was flooded in tears and she was coaxing him. But the boy in his arms just wouldn't stop crying.

He felt betrayed! How could mommy do this to him?

That bad man was piercing his hands but not only did she not stop him, she also held out his arm to let that man pierce it? How could she?

Xia Rou's routine check didn't take that long either. To be exact, she was only going to accompany Yun Xuan. The so called routine check was simply an excuse. Was there anyone who didn't know that the only doctor she ever went to was her friend Doctor Qiao?

As soon as they got back to the car, Yun Feng no longer wanted to be in his mother's embrace. Mommy was very bad! 

Once in Xia Rou's safe embrace, a fresh bout of tears gushed out of his eyes. He stuck out his tiny arm to show her the small wound that had appeared after his fair arm was pricked. He looked up at her pitifully. It was as though he was saying, "Granny, look. It hurts very much." 

Xia Rou took his tiny arm and kissed it. "Be good. It won't hurt anymore. Didn't grandma kiss it?"

The boy blinked his blue eyes, leaned against Xia Rou's chest and drifted off to sleep. 

Yun Xuan sighed in relief. 

At this moment, her phone rang. 

The caller was Lin Ye, and she frowned. She had almost forgotten about this man's existence. 

If she glanced at Xia Rou's face at this moment, she would have noticed the smile on her face. But she didn't. 

She swiped the screen of her phone to pick the call. "Lin Ye?" 

"Hello." A husky voice reached her ears. "Xuanxuan, are you too busy?" 

Yun Xuan thought about what she had to do when she got back to the Lin residence. "Erm... not exactly. Do you need something?" 

"Could you keep me company for a while? All the servants suddenly resigned. I'm all on my own." The man on the other side sounded as though he had suffered a great deal of injustice.

Yun Xuan felt as though her heart had been pricked by needles. He only had servants for company? "If you are on your own, how did you manage to give me a call?" 

After asking this question, she realized that perhaps it would have been better if she didn't ask. It might just remind him of his difficulties. 

Sure enough, the answer that left his mouth in a pitiful tone was quite heartbreaking. "I knew exactly where my phone was so I felt my way around and found it. I used my voice to read out my password and unlock it, find your contact number among my saved contacts and call you. The voice assistant was quite helpful.

But Xuanxuan, unfortunately those voice assistants cannot cook for me. I'm very hungry. I haven't eaten a grain of rice since last night." 

The more he spoke, the more Yun Xuan's heart broke. In the end, she couldn't listen any more. "Stop. Don't speak any more. I'm coming over to keep you company, okay?" 

"No no. If it's a bother, don't come." 

"Lin Ye, are you stupid? You haven't eaten all day and you don't want me to cook for you?" Her tone turned unusually gentle. "Just wait for me, okay? Don't move about."

On the other side, Lin Ye waited to hear the disconnection tone before taking the phone off his ear. 

He spoke to the servants that were within the living room. He knew they must be flabbergasted. "All of you, scram!"
