Chapter 623 - The honeyed water

Lin Ye didn't know whether to be happy or sad. However, it was good enough that she didn't scold him for taking advantage of her and scurry away. 

He could finally heave a sigh of relief. 

If she only wanted time to think it through, it meant he had half a chance, right? 

It also meant he could use that time to prove his love to her. Perhaps that would make her feel safe and agree to be with him. 

"Xuanxuan, I'm thirsty. Could you pour me a glass of water?" Lin Ye swiftly changed the topic of discussion. 

Yun Xuan shot a glance at him. 

Why was it that his tone sounded so... sweet? 

Don't get her wrong. She was not enchanted by his tone or voice. 

He just sounded like a spoilt husband waiting to be doted on. 

The way he dragged the syllables of her name was especially pleasant to the ear. 

She had to admit that the Lin Ye at this moment was somehow cute. 

Yun Xuan slapped her forehead. Would she ever look at him the same way? 

Because his feelings had already been revealed, Lin Ye didn't bother hiding them anymore. He called out her name exactly how he had always wanted to. 

It was such a heartwarming moment. Such a pity that he couldn't see her expressions. He could only imagine them.

Yun Xuan rushed to the kitchen and returned with a glass of water which she placed carefully in his hands. He drank it in tiny sips, savouring the taste like it was from some precious source. 

"Xuanxuan, did you add honey to the water?" 

Yun Xuan was amused. "No." 

"Really? But it's too sweet. Much sweeter than any other water I've ever drank." 

Although he was talking about water, it oddly sounded as though he was talking about something else. 

Yun Xuan stared at him. Since when did water have a taste? 

Just when she was finding a new topic to talk about, the man held out the empty glass towards her. 

Once she took it away, he spoke in a pitiable tone. "Xuanxuan, I feel sweaty." 

Yun Xuan finally couldn't take his teasing anymore. "Don't even think about it. I'm not going to bathe you. What's your butler's contact number? I'll call him back right away." 

Lin Ye chuckled - a guilty chuckle from being found out. 

He was hoping she could bathe him but since she couldn't, this was good too. 

Another surprise lay in his phone. 

There was no need hiding this either. In fact, it would be better if she saw it sooner because he might need her help later, and she would have to use his phone to help him. 

Thus he took out his phone from his pocket innocently, "the password is Yun Feng's birthday." 

"Huh?" Yun Xuan was caught off guard while still waiting for his instructions. 

What did he just say the password was? 

Yun Feng's birthday? 

Forget about how strange it was that he knew when her son's birthday was. He even had it as his phone's password? 

Nonetheless, she took the phone from his outstretched hand and keyed in the little devil's birthday. 

"It actually worked." She was still in disbelief. 

Her face revealed even more shock when she saw the beautiful photo on the screensaver. 

It was actually a photo of her... and that too when she was much younger. 

She was wearing simple pants and a white cotton top, her blond hair tied up into a cute ponytail. 

Although this was different from her usual style, she looked cheerful and pretty; her smile could warm up the most frozen hearts. 

If she remembered correctly, the only times she dressed this way was when she went hiking with her former friends. 

It was unbelievable that he managed to lay his hands on such a photo and even kept it to use as his phone's screensaver. 

Heaven knew that no matter how many times he got a new phone, he would only use this photo. 

One had to admit that she was cute, though. It was a breath of fresh air from those elegant dresses and gowns that she always wore in the past. 

She looked beautiful in them, but they would get monotonous with time. 

"Have you found the butler's contact number?" Lin Ye probed. 

Yun Xuan came back to her senses and did what she was supposed to do. 

She called the butler and after talking him into returning, she hung up and returned the phone to Lin Ye. She did not date to look at it again.

In the morning, Yun Xuan diligently cooked breakfast - she felt self-conscious, as though she looked exactly like a wife preparing breakfast for her husband and son. 

Once she had fed the pair, she asked to leave. 

"I just moved in with Aunt Xia. Wouldn't it be strange if I simply hopped off to move in with a man?" This was what she said when Lin Ye tried to convince her to move in with him. 

However, he knew that she was simply conscious of the fact that they didn't have any relationship yet. In fact, he was simply trying to push his luck. 

But there was a slight problem in his heart. 

Since the previous night, she had significantly kept a safer distance from him. 

She had asked for time to think about his confession... but why was she distancing herself? Don't tell him she was actually scared and was finding ways to get away?

Once Yun Xuan left Lin Ye's villa, she sighed deeply. 

Lin Ye was an excellent man. 

It was undeniable. In fact, she had always thought that the woman in his heart was lucky. 

But why was it that since she found out that he loved her, she felt sad instead? 

She was not just sad. She was worried too... 

What was up with these negative emotions? Shouldn't she be happy that there was someone who cared about her? 

Shouldn't she gladly agree to be with him?
