Chapter 199 199. Phobos Demise.
The smell of burnt flesh filled the area as well and Phobos could do nothing but stand and stare in shock at what he was seeing.
"T-this is impossible,"
"H-how?" Phobos muttered to himself in disbelief at what he was seeing.
For centuries, he had been hunting, gathering and contracting with these demons for the sole purpose of one day using them as his source of strength.
And now, every single one of his contracted demons had been killed within seconds by not even a god but his pet.
How demeaning.
But aside from this, there was one thing Phobos still couldn't wrap his head around.
'H-how in the h.e.l.l is he able to summon one of Hades favorite pets?' Phobos thought to himself, but he suddenly noticed that Cerberus' attention had shifted towards his way.
The huge three-headed hound growled with intense ferocity and stalked towards Phobos, with its various eyes already locked on him.
Phobos turned around and knew that there was no way he could escape from the huge mutt staring at him.
He gritted his teeth and cursed internally at the situation he found himself in.
He could easily use a magic circle to teleport himself away from here.
However, that was the same thing as running away from his opponent, and his pride wouldn't let him do such a thing.
Moreover, he couldn't bear to look Ares in the eye when informing him of his failure to take down the prince of Elysium.
His father would definitely kill him on the spot.
This meant that he was left with only one option and that was to face his enemy head-on.
With his mind made up, Phobos dashed towards the huge mutt rather than wait for it to close the distance between them.
He coated his hands in purple flames before leaping towards Cerberus with his hand curled into a fist and ready to land a punch on one of Cerberus' heads.
However, all three heads were ready, and they opened their mouths wide to reveal a huge demonic flame of red, green and blue hue which then morphed into the shape of a ball and shot it straight towards Phobos.
His screams filled the area as his body erupted in flames, but Kevin's cubic fabricated reality skill had been activated ever since the second round of their battle started, so as not to alert the neighbors who were currently asleep.
A few minutes later, Phobos' body dropped to the ground, every part of his body burnt to a crisp.
The fire continued to burn until there was nothing left to burn, and then a green orb glowed and floated above the little flame that was still burning before it was completely extinguished.
The orb represented Phobos' consciousness, but even he couldn't explain the disappointment he had in himself. noVe)lB-1n
If being killed by an inexperienced demigod could be described as deplorable, how then could he face Ares and say that he was defeated by a familiar?
However, he was heading to Tartarus and there was no doubt Deimos would be waiting for him down there, ready to glare at him with total contempt.
A little sigh could be heard from the orb as Phobos accepted his fate while also preparing himself to meet his brother once again.
Some seconds later, the glowing green orb lost its glow until it completely vanished.
The corpses of the demons scattered around the street were also burnt in a similar way until not even a strand of hair remained in the spot where they were burnt.
"Don't even bother looking for Ares because you can't, he will come to you when the time is right."
Kevin recalled the words Phobos said to him before they fought for the second time.
He recalled Phobos talking about how Ares wanted to create an army of Awakened and cannibals which he would use to take over Elysium.
"This means that he's most likely using mistletoe as his means of accomplishing such a goal."
"Then I'll have to find the factory before it's too late."
Kevin's mind was made up and he wasn't going to sit around and wait till Ares accomplished his goals before coming for him.
Instead, Kevin planned to make good use of the time and opportunity he was just given to force Ares into revealing his location.
Thus, Kevin would have to end Ares himself. He also hoped that he would have the chance to see his mother again when this was all over.
"But I still have to do a few things before finding out the location of the factory," Kevin muttered to himself as he recalled the auction coming up soon and the fact that he still hadn't accomplished his main goal of being recognized well enough to be offered a direct invitation to take part in the auction coming up in a month.
An exhausted sigh escaped his lips after he acknowledged the fact that the road ahead wasn't going to be easy and was still far from coming to an end.
Kevin turned to his left to take a look at Cerberus. Cerberus lowered his head a bit as he listened to his master's command in his head.
With a nod, Cerberus leaped back into Kevin's shadow to await the next time Kevin would summon him.
Kevin watched as Cerberus leaped into his shadow, and once Cerberus' body completely sank into his shadow, he flew straight into the sky, intending to return home as fast as he could so that he could rest and catch up on some much-needed sleep. Once he woke up in the morning he would then complete the online courses he was currently learning.
Time was of great importance to him now, and Kevin needed to become a millionaire within a few weeks to prove to Ned Baratheon and those involved in giving out the invitations that he was ready and capable of growing into a successful businessman in the future and would most importantly make a great business partner as well.
Upon returning home, he updated Sasha and Vanessa on what occurred ever since he left home with Drake and stormed towards his Uncle's apartment, who turned out not to be his real uncle but an impostor sent by Ares to keep a close eye on his mother.
