"Aiyaaa, that damn magic beast, why does it have to bite me before it dies?" A rough man with a muscular body wearing a beast skin that covered his private area curses
He was holding his stomach area that was still bleeding from a magic beast's attack. He was successful on today's hunt but at the same time, he returned with injuries, injuries that are common amongst the tribesmen
"Sigh... the healer said that because of the lack of ingredients and lack of time, the tribe lacks painkillers now. You have to endure the pain, Kruce" another tribesman replied while holding a wooden bowl with a green paste inside
"What? That's too bad! I like the healer's painkillers, no matter how injured I was before, I can't feel it. I even slept really well after taking them!" Kruce muttered, his heart filled with regret due to the lack of painkillers
"It's all that bastard Yvter's fault! He wasted all the medicines that the healer made! If not because of him, we wouldn't have a lack of medicines!" The tribesman replied before taking a basin of water as he started washing Kruce's wounds
"Hiss...! What are you doing, Short River?! Just apply the medicine, why do you have to pour water on me?" Kruce grumbled while groaning from the pain
The bite wound on his stomach was quite deep and pouring water on it definitely hurts a lot
"Have you already forgotten what the healer said? We have to regularly clean our wounds if we don't want them to get infected! You remember that Long Grass died because his injury got infected, right? We must do as the healer said!" Short River replied while rolling his eyes
"Ah, right. I forgot about that! Our healer is really great, to think that he also knows how to prevent infection! Just what got into that bastard Yvter's mind to hate him like that? That nasty brat, I don't like him before but now, I dislike him even more!" Kruce said while throwing daggers at Yvter on his mind
As soon as he said those words, he sensed a pair of eyes staring at him and when he turned to look at the source, he saw none other than the person he badmouthed moments ago
However, instead of getting embarrassed, Kruce merely raised his brows
"What? Do you want a fight? Just because I am injured doesn't mean that I would fear you! Come here if you dare!" Kruce said arrogantly while puffing his chest
Most tribesmen are like this. If they like you, they will show it and if they dislike you, they would also show it
Yvter's reputation after what he did to Rezen instantly hit rock bottom though a part of it was also because many tribesmen were already previously discontented at his nasty personality
As much as Yvter wanted to beat the shit out of Kruce, he didn't dare fight him. Kruce might be injured but he was also one of the strongest mages of the tribe outside of the few Junior Mages
Kruce is also seen as a person that has a high chance of reaching the Junior Rank in his lifetime and his combat skills are above Yvter
Even at the same rank, there were still huge differences in power. If Yvter were to start a fight with Kruce, then he might just lose face
While gritting his teeth and embedding this humiliation in his mind, Yvter just continued on his way
"Hmph, coward!" Kruce said in disdain and Short River continued cleaning his wounds before rubbing the medicinal paste on them while using more beast skin to use as a dressing
After they were done, Kruce and Short River watched as the tribesmen started gathering towards the hut of the tribe's Chief
Out of curiosity, they asked one tribesman what was happening
"How can you not know? Our great healer said that he finished creating the powder that would repel most magic beasts at the Junior Rank! Don't you know how big of a deal that is? We can use it on the farm that the healer planned and also on the whole tribe! If the powder was effective, our tribe would be safer than ever! Everyone has gathered to check if the powder really works but considering that it was our healer, I'm sure he didn't lie!"
The person that answered Short River and Kruce was actually Rezen's neighbor which was Treen. This man has a 100% trust in Rezen and he thinks that Rezen is a very knowledgeable man
"A powder that could repel magic beast?" Short River and Kruce mumbled while glancing at each other
This was news to them considering that they just got back from hunting. What happened between Rezen and Yvter was something that they only heard from the other tribesmen. They were not aware of the product that Rezen was developing
Out of curiosity, the two also went to the Chief's hut and they saw that there were already many tribesmen gathered around it
It's just that due to the limited space, not everyone could see what was happening inside
Fortunately, it didn't take that long before the Chief and Rezen exited the hut
"The old, disabled, and children come with us! We would continue creating the farm! And the apprentices that don't need to rest, also come with us!" The Chief ordered before she walked
The area that was designated to be the potato farm is just literally right next to the huts of the tribe
Just like what they did the first time, those that could use magic used their powers to cut down the trees while the Chief use her magic to slow down the falling rate of the trees so that they wouldn't create a loud noise
The only thing that differed now was that Rezen blew some black powder all around the area
The humans don't sense anything from the powder. In their senses, the powder was just your normal powder, as such, many of them were skeptical at first
However, minutes and minutes passed but even a single beastling was nowhere to be found
This was nothing but a miracle to them. They didn't expect that the powder actually works!
"Cough! Cough! C-chief, t-the powder was effective!" Rezen said jubilantly despite having a very pale face
He still wasn't healed from the injury he got from Yvter but despite that, he pushed forward to finish creating the powder
Rezen even deliberately lowered the medicine production rate so that he could rest and also ignite the tribe's displeasure towards Yvter
Since it would be winter soon, the tribe has to start planting the potatoes as soon as possible
"Healer, you should rest for now!"
"Look at you, you could barely stand!"
"Look at your face, you look like a ghost!"
The tribe immediately showed their concern for Rezen. Not only was he very 'kind', he was also a great help to the tribe
They are unwilling to see him suffering in any way
"I-I'm fine, there is a lot of time to rest later. For now, we need to create the farm!" Rezen replied to them, his words touching the hearts of the tribesmen
'Does he really have a sincere heart or is this his way of manipulating people's emotions?' The Chief thought but she could only sigh inside her
Not to mention Rezen's ability as a healer, the powder that repelled magic beasts alone is more than enough for him to be treated as the tribe's precious
One of the fears that tribes have is to be attacked by either a strong magic beast or a large number of them
Now that they have the powder that could repel magic beasts, their lives would be safer and they could also sleep soundly at night
After all, the tribe is attacked at least once a week. For now, they are just lucky that the magic beasts that attacked them are within their capabilities to defeat. But even then, people still die many times, and only now could they avoid that
"How long is the effect of that powder?" The Chief asks the important question
It would be good if the powder has a permanent effect but that sounds pretty impossible
"Depending on the weather, it could last from a few days to a maximum of a week. If it rains, the powder would immediately lose its effectiveness" Rezen replied
The powder works by utilizing the feces of a magic beast to make an area look like a certain magic beast's territory
With the help of the supplementary ingredients, the feces' was masked to become the feces of a magic beast that is stronger than most
As such, most beastlings and Junior Rank magic beasts would definitely stray away from the area where the powder was sprinkled
However, a magic beast's feces in time would lose its scent much less the powder that Rezen has created and the powder has to be reapplied regularly
