While Rezen doesn't feel guilty or at the very least not too guilty, it would be a lie to say that he doesn't feel bad for what he did
He has his reasons and he would do it again if he has to but it doesn't mean that he doesn't care about Claude. That man is very kind and Rezen was a previous recipient of that kindness
If not for the unfortunate circumstances, Rezen would never betray that kind brother. He didn't expect that he would meet someone that has the same kindness as Claude does
While the personality and aura of the two are completely different, the kindness in their hearts is completely identical based on what Rezen could sense
This helped lessen Rezen's fear and after calming himself, he nodded his head
"I-I'm alright. Thank you for your help" Rezen said politely while bowing his head a bit
If not for these people, Rezen might have died today. Now that he is safe, Rezen could sense the rank of the now-dead magic beast
That magic beast should be at the 3rd cycle. Even if Rezen was multiplied ten times, he wouldn't have the ability to resist
While entities at the 3rd cycle are generally only 2.25 times stronger than those at the 1st cycle, that's still a big difference that couldn't be simply made up with numbers
The attack on the Metal Sword Tribe proved that. Even with superior numbers, half of them died and if not for Titane dying, everyone might have been wiped out back then
This is the reason why even with Junior Mages, the tribes have a hard time feeding their people. You just wouldn't know when you will encounter entities that could easily kill you
"Good" Wermon replied while nodding his head while he and Philome stared at Rezen
They might be the kind of people that would not treat tribal people as if they are inferior savages but based on what they know, these kind of people should be rough. They don't have the polite aura that Rezen has. This made them think whether what they previously believed is right or wrong
"Y-yeah..." Rezen said awkwardly while sizing up these people before his eyes landed on their flying sticks
These sticks followed and floated around them as if they were loyal servants and Rezen is intrigued by their existence
Wermon seems to have noticed that and he held his flying stick before putting it in front of Rezen that was surprised and he once again took a step back unconsciously
Rezen might think that Wermon has the same kindness as Claude does but that kind of person is not necessarily the type of people he wants to meet
If he has to do it, Claude would not hesitate to kill hundreds or even thousands of innocent people to save more than that number. If Wermon is the same then if it was necessary, he might kill Rezen
Rezen would like to meet people who are pure and kind. The type that would not be as decisive as Claude and wouldn't sacrifice others for the greater good
Seeing Rezen's reaction, Wermon narrowed his eyes and he stared at his hand holding the flying stick with a lost look in his eyes
"Hahahaha, Wermon, you are scaring him" Philome said with a light laugh before smiling at Rezen. "What he actually meant is that you could try to ride on his flying stick if you want to. Oh, that stick is the flying stick and by using it, you could fly by supplying it with mana"
Philome explained how the flying stick works as the ignorant Rezen definitely wouldn't know what a flying stick is nor how to use them
"N-no, i-it's alright. I appreciate the offer" Rezen said while shaking his head while being more polite than usual
He doesn't have the confidence to run away from a magic beast at the 3rd cycle much less for someone that could kill that kind of magic beast in a single move with ease
"Is that so? That's too bad. I wanted to ask you a favor in exchange for trying the flying stick" Philome said with a sigh before pushing the seemingly dumbfounded Wermon
If they don't want to scare Rezen, it was better for Philome to do the talking instead of Wermon that is far from being and having a friendly aura
"N-no, you guys saved me. I'm willing to do you a favor" Rezen replied before adding "It's not like I have a choice" in his head
"Is that so? That's great! For starters, my name is Philome and the scary guy over there is Wermon. May we know your name?"
"R-Rezen. My name is Rezen"
Philome nodded her head before she continue speaking. "We are from the City of Hope. Ah, right, think of a city as a large place with many different tribes living in it"
"Sister, I know what a city is" Rezen said in his head but he didn't show that on his face. He instead acted as if he just learned something new
"Different tribes? Not one large tribe?" Rezen asked while showing curiosity, as one from a small tribe would do
"That's right, we have countless tribes in our city though we call tribes as Clans. And we are actually here to ask the tribes inside Drakery Forest if they want to join our City of Hope. Of course, your tribe and the others would benefit from it. Based on your aura, you should be a 1st cycle Junior Mage, right?"
Rezen nodded his head in affirmation
"In our city, there are literally thousands of people at that level. Not only that, we also have many high-ranking Junior Mages and even Senior and Great Mages that are far stronger than Junior Mages!"
"With the strong mages of our City cooperating with each other, we live in safety and peace. At the very least, we could guarantee that the tribes that will join us will have a very safe place to live on"
"Not only that! Thanks to years of research and many strong mages in our city, we could provide your tribe with knowledge so that you'll hopefully reach the Senior or even Great Mage rank in the future!"
Philome started barraging Rezen with her words. She was like a dog that wouldn't stop barking
Even when more than ten minutes passed, she was still speaking, trying to sell the City of Hope to Rezen. She was like the insurance agent of Rezen's previous world
"You see our flying sticks? Almost everyone in our city has them. That means you could fly! How amazing is that, right?" Philome continued, her enthusiasm did not diminish even after ten minutes of talking
"Really?! Really?! We could all fly?!" Rezen asked like an excited child. His face showed great excitement but deep inside him, he was grumbling
"Wow... I have never acted this childish before" Rezen thought while thinking that the smile on his face might freeze and he would become a smiling man forever
It's just that to a 'country bumpkin' such as himself, this is the proper and normal reaction. And anyway, this chatterbox also helped Rezen learn about this City of Hope
Although Rezen is aware that humans have always been at the mercy of the magic beasts in this realm, he didn't expect that this realm only has one human city
The first and last city was also just created a thousand years ago. That is an extremely long time but is far from what Rezen would expect from a 'fantasy world'
When Rezen reached the Junior Rank, his lifespan already increased just like the Chief and other Junior Mages. What more for Senior and Great Mages that have an even longer lifespan
A thousand years doesn't sound that long considering that as one goes higher in the path of magic, the longer one could live
However, although Rezen is learning, his jaw was already aching by trying to act so childishly. In the end, he decided to put a stop to this torture
"Sister! Sister! What should we do to join your cim—, ciw—, I mean city!" Rezen asked while acting as if he almost forgot the term 'city'
That seems to have bought Philome back to reality and she coughs before answering
"We would like to speak with the people of your tribe and if they agree, we would welcome you in our city" Philome replied as if things are as simple as that but Rezen doesn't think so
Considering the strength of the City of Hope, mere Junior Mages shouldn't be the kind of mages that they would go through this kind of trouble to recruit
There is a deeper reason for this than just the excuse of "the city wanting to have more people to make it safer" that Philome used on Rezen
Other tribal people might be fooled by that but definitely not Rezen
