Ch: 113 [A moment with Harley]
"Daddy!" That strange young girl with pink hair came running and hugged me.
Ok. This is awkward.
"I am not your daddy," I said.
...[30 minutes later]...
"Let me get this straight, I am your dad from another life and this woman named Skye was my wife and your name is Hina, and you are my daughter?" I asked the girl who had been calling me Daddy.
I heard her version of the story. Here is the short version.
According to her, one evening fire rained down from the sky, killing her mother and everyone she ever knew. She and her father survived somehow. After that, her father trained her for ten years to prepare her for the upcoming fight, but one day when she woke up, he was gone... Disappeared without a word. She searched for years in the hope of finding her father, but never found him. Then one day she heard a rumor about the sighting of a man that resembled her father in an ancient ruin.
She followed the rumor and went to the ruin, but all she found there were a couple of ancient tombs. That's where her memory ends. She thinks she fell into a slumber within the ruin and when she woke up, she was captured by the AMO. And they did inhumane experiments on her due to her unkillable body for years. But whenever she gained her sanity, she tried to contact me through my dreams thanks to the skills her mother taught her before her death. Then, when the undeads broke out in that asylum, she took the chance to escape but ended up fighting giant demons and AMO operatives. After that, Mom rescued her last night
"Mum-hum," The young girl shooked while chomping on the sandwich.
Now this... I don't know what to say or how to react. I looked toward Mom for some answer and she shook her head, agreeing with Hina. The thing is I don't remember anything other than I saw this girl smashing a giant freak. If I am not wrong it has to do something with my missing memories. It's better to wait till the System recovers those erased memories before jumping to a conclusion.
"I am sorry, but I don't remember anything except for the dream where you were fighting this huge monster," I said after arranging my thoughts.
"I understand," Hina sighed, "I didn't mean to intrude in your new life, but I have nowhere else to go." She said with a tint of sadness in her voice.
"She is telling the truth," Mom said, "If I am not wrong, someone erased your memories. I am sure with your abilities you have already noticed it." She narrowed her eyes.
"Yeah, about that... I am working on recovering my memories. I should be able to remember everything within 4-5 days and I know who messed with them," I said. I am certain that Emma was behind it. Well, only time will tell why or who did it. I continued, "And if you really are my daughter, then I am sorry for leaving you alone. I can't imagine what you went through. But I can promise you one thing, no one will hurt you anymore, not when we are alive."
"See, I told ya, Pinkie," Harley was standing behind Hina. She hugged her from behind, "No one is hurtin' you. We are gonna smash those AMO's heads."
"You are right," Jessica cracked her fingers, "It's time to end those bastards for good."
"Wow, that was incredible!" I exclaimed, my voice muffled by the snorkel. "Did you see that sea turtle? And those clownfish? It's like we entered a whole new world down there!"
Harley Quinn nodded enthusiastically, her eyes shining with joy. "Absolutely amazing! I can't believe we got to experience this together. This is a memory I'll cherish forever. Thank you."
As we stepped out of the water, Harley turned to me with a smile that could light up the whole beach. "You know, Alex," she said, "I think you look even more handsome with your diving gear on."
I couldn't help but laugh as I removed my mask, feeling a bit ridiculous with my dive fins and snorkel still on. "And I think you look even more beautiful with seaweed in your hair," I teased, gently brushing a strand from her cheek.
Harley giggled, her eyes shining with happiness. "Thank you, love," she said, leaning in for a kiss. Our lips met, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still as we shared a moment of intimacy and love.
As we pulled away, I looked into her eyes, feeling a surge of emotion. "You know, Harley, you were looking like a beautiful mermaid down there. So perfect."
Harley's face softened, her eyes filled with tenderness. "Alex, you always know just what to say. You make me feel like the luckiest girl in the world."
"Oh, I love you so much, my beautiful mermaid," I whispered in her ears.
"I love you too," Harley replied with a smile.
We stood there, our bodies close together, watching the waves lapping at the shore. The beauty of the moment was almost too much to bear, and I knew that this would be a memory I would cherish forever.
As we turned to make our way back to the rest of the family, Harley took my hand, squeezing it tightly. "Thank you for everything," she said, her voice soft but full of feeling.
I looked at her, feeling my heart swell with love. "Thank you for being a part of my life."
We walked towards the shore, hand in hand, feeling the warmth of the sun on our skin and the salt of the sea on our lips.
