Chapter 63 - Evening Gathering

Yu Huiyin looked at Xie Jingyu, puzzled. He was acting weird, even she felt that something was wrong with his explanations and reasoning, but she could not put her finger on precisely what.

Knowing that he had been a bit too obvious, Xie Jingyu just smiled as he continued eating the food, not paying more attention to her.

After that, it was just Yu Huiyin who was left puzzled, but she quickly shook the weird feeling off. Xie Jingyu had no reason not to tell her the truth; she was likely just feeling weird because he had touched her lips so intimately.

Shaking her head to clear it from the weird thoughts, Yu Huiyin looked at the plates as she continued eating. But unlike before, she was no longer so talkative, and her face kept blushing from time to time.

Every time her tongue licked her lips, she would flush red, the feeling of his touch still lingering on her lips.

Xie Jingyu was constantly watching her, and noticed her face flushing red, returning to normal, and then flushing red again.

A smirk appeared on his lips. She was affected by his gesture, and she was not angry but bashful. This was so satisfying for Xie Jingyu that he began to consider being more forward with his emotions.

Although he had to be careful, he was also afraid of being friend-zoned, so he was willing to do anything he could to make her fall for him.

Yu Huiyin was unaware that Xie Jingyu was going to let go a little in the future and tease her more, so she slowly felt her speeding heartbeat relax.

After a bit of time, the food had been eaten, and both Yu Huiyin and Xie Jingyu were so full that they needed to walk a bit to aid their digestion.

Xie Jingyu rose from his seat first and dealt with the bill before he went on to take Yu Huiyin's hand and gently led her out of the restaurant. They walked a bit around the streets and relaxed a little to make their stomachs feel better.

After walking for half an hour, Xie Jingyu still showed no signs of wanting to release Yu Huiyin's hand. They were both feeling much less stuffy, and they returned to pick up their car from the parking valet before Xie Jingyu drove them back to the office.

"Huiyin," Xie Jingyu called out as they were back in the office. "I am going to an evening gathering tomorrow night. You will follow as my female companion.

"It is a party for the upper class in the entertainment industry, as our daughter company, which is an investment company, has invested in a new locally produced movie.

"This movie has been highly anticipated. The title is Golden Fox, and it is made over the novel of the same name. It has been a best seller ever since it began publishing, and now that it finished, the book is being made into a movie instead of a drama series.

"Many want to attend this party, so I am warning you ahead of time, I imagine that Yu Jingshen will show up."

"Don't worry," Yu Huiyin felt excited, but a cold gleam flashed past her eyes at the mention of her father. "I have not seen him for years; I highly doubt that he will be able to recognize me."

"That's good," Xie Jingyu nodded his head. "I have booked a studio to do your styling and makeup. I have also ordered a dress for you. It should suit you just perfectly."

Yu Huiyin nodded her head. Up until now, every garment that he had bought for her had fit her, so she did not doubt that the dress would too.

The truth was, that although Xie Jingyu had been invited to the event, no one had expected that he would actually participate.

It was his daughter company who had made the investment, and it had little to do with him as the CEO of the Xie Corporation.

But everyone wanted to get a better relationship with him, hence they invited him anyway, and he had said yes for one reason only.

Yu Huiyin wanted to enter the entertainment circle. Not as an actress, but as the leader of a company, and this gathering would make it possible for her to gather some connections.

The rest of the day was spent buried in work. Xie Jingyu went to various meetings, while Yu Huiyin sorted and archived multiple files that had to do with accounting.

The Head Secretary quickly started to feel some respect for Yu Huiyin. The woman had no previous experience, nor education to back her up, but she was efficient and hardworking. If there was something she did not understand, she was polite while asking questions, and she did not put on any airs.

While the Head Secretary slowly changed her initial opinion on Yu Huiyin, many of the others were still grumbling about the Fox Spirit that had seduced their dream husband, their CEO.

But whenever the upper management heard any rumors, they were harsh to mete out punishments, and soon the rumors were confined to the WeChat groups.

The upper management dared not inform the ordinary white-collar workers that Yu Huiyin was his wife. They did not know what exactly Xie Jingyu's plans were, and since they had not publicly announced their relationship, they wisely kept their mouths shut.

The ordinary workers all assumed that these managers and the upper hierarchy of the office just wanted to keep their positions and maybe even advance by fawning over Yu Huiyin. They would never believe it if they were told that this woman, whom they deemed to be a vixen, was in fact, Xie Jingyu's wife.
