Chapter 100 - The Past

The truth was that, although Yu Huiyin was calm and collected, there was a bit of discomfort in her heart. Who was this Lu Changying who was able to cause Xie Jingyu to make such an agreement?

Also, was this the reason he had never married or dated anyone before? Because he knew that it did not matter since he already had a woman waiting for him?

A sour feeling arose, but she quickly pressed it down. It was not like this Lu Changying was ever going to marry Xie Jingyu, the one who had married him was her, and while Xie Jingyu did not like the other woman, there was no doubt that he did like her.

Thinking like this, she was much calmer and felt much better. But she also knew that one of the reasons that she was jealous of this unknown woman was because she grew up with Xie Jingyu.

She had seen him as a child, seen him grow into a fine man, and knew sides of him that Yu Huiyin still did not know.

Having a woman who was chasing her husband know more about her husband than she herself did, this was indeed a stifling feeling.

Xie Jingyu knew that although Yu Huiyin was quiet, she could not possibly be comfortable about the whole situation.

When he made such an agreement back in the days, he did not think that he would one day encounter Yu Huiyin, to whom he fell in love at first sight.

Now he really regretted his earlier decision. He would never want Yu Huiyin to feel uncomfortable, and his own actions had caused her grief.

He thought that it would not matter who he married, it would not matter what kind of person it was either, but now that he had fallen in love, he knew that the only person he wanted to spend his entire life together with was Yu Huiyin.

"How long have you known this Lu Changying?" Yu Huiyin asked, her eyes downcast, and her mood turbulent.

"I knew her brother from when I started primary school, and around that time I got to know her as well. She is two years younger than me, and I am afraid that her family will blame me for her wasting her youth. Fortunately, although their family is powerful and influential, they are nothing compared to the Xie family. They will not be too extreme."

Yu Huiyin nodded her head as if she had understood what he said, and then she sighed. She did not mind too much about the marriage contract; what bothered her was that there was a woman out there who knew more about her husband than she herself did.

It really made her feel sour.

"Jingyu, can you tell me about yourself?" She asked tentatively. She wanted to know about him and his life, but she was not sure that he was willing to tell her. After all, he had even hidden something as big as being the boss of Xiyang Gang from her!

Seeing the tentative expression on her face, Xie Jingyu could faintly guess what was going on within her mind, and he quickly took her hand and led her to the bed, where he sat her down and sat next to her.

"I can tell you," he said. "I will tell you anything you want to know, so just ask me."

"Tell me about yourself," she requested as she leaned her head against his shoulder.

Seeing her suddenly becoming so dependent on him, Xie Jingyu was feeling a variety of complex emotions. On one side, he was happy that he was important to her, but on the other, he blamed himself for making her sad. He should really not have agreed to that stupid idea back in the day.

"I grew up in the Xie family, much like every other child in the upper classes of society," Xie Jingyu began. "I got my first private teacher when I turned three and was homeschooled all until primary school.

"In primary school, I went to the most upscale school in the entire country, and after finishing high school, I went overseas to study at university.

"My life was very simple, much like that of many other heirs. I was expected to do well in the classes, I was supposed to top the ranks in the year, and the better I did, the more rewards I would get.

"My parents were not against me, they loved me and spoiled me, but both of them were also busy with their own lives. From as long back as I can remember, they would always be busy doing their own things, so I would always eat alone, only the servants and the old man kept me company.

"When I turned fifteen, I was quite tired of the lifestyle I was living, and I began dabbling in the underground world. That was how I founded the Xiyang Gang.

"These years it has grown increasingly big and magnificent within the country, it truly was never expected to grow like this, but now that it has, I am quite pleased with it.

"When I was a young a.d.u.l.t, my parents died in a traffic accident. Although I was sad, it is hard to say that I was devastated, considering the fact that they were always busy with their own things, so I rarely saw them.

"The relationship between myself and my parents was quite stiff. I was, of course, sad that they died so fast, but I cannot do anything about it, and when I think about it, the only person in my family who I am really close to is the old man."
