We left the castle under the cover of darkness, the only light illuminating our path came from the flame-thrower minions who marched in front of us, Chloe and I. Their fiery weapons casting an eerie glow upon the surrounding landscape, the flickering light casting deep shadows that seemed to dance and writhe in the darkness. Minions, however, didn't require such light as they possessed the ability to see in the dimmest of conditions, their advanced eyes glinting in the darkness like a predator's.
As we journeyed on, the city wall came into view, looming in the distance like a sentinel of stone. I gave the order for the minions to extinguish their flames, the sudden darkness engulfing us as we approached. I had also ordered the "silent killer" minions to scale the back of the city and attempt to open the front gate.
All 50 of the "silent killers" were sent inside to clear the way for my army. Intelligence minions had previously informed me of the alarm bells placed within the castle, designed to alert the army of any intruders or attacks. However, the intelligence variants were unable to establish communication with the minions inside.
The "silent killers" were dressed entirely in black, their clothing and weapons blending seamlessly into the darkness. They advanced towards the castle, their movements graceful and silent as they reached the back side of the fortress. An intelligence variant also went to the wall, relaying information to the variants inside and ordering them to assist in reaching the front wall.
They entered the water, their movements barely disturbing the surface as they made their way to their destination. They employed grappling hooks, attaching several to one minion's back as they scaled the wall. The first to reach the top secured the hooks in place, allowing the rest to follow swiftly. 50 minions used 10 hooks to reach the top instantly. There were a few guards on the wall, but they were quickly taken down by the first minion to reach the top.
The intelligence variant minions were waiting below the wall, ready to join the battle. Slowly, my forces began to march towards the front of the castle, the moon obscured by clouds, providing us with an element of surprise. The intelligence variants formed a line, establishing a connection and deciding when to attack with full force. We halted at a safe distance from the castle, waiting for the alarm or any sign from within.
After a while, the intelligence variant relayed the message that they were near the gate and would open it soon. Five army groups, each led by five intelligence variant stage 2, had two intelligence variant minions for assistance in the middle of the group to spread messages. AI was utilized to spread messages among the warriors. One of the assistance minions was told to stay near me, relaying my messages to the leader. Using advance control and sending messages through that method would have taken more time than this approach.
As we waited, the tension was palpable, the sound of our breathing and the rustle of cloth the only noises in the silent night. But soon, the gates would open, and we would march forward to claim what was rightfully ours.
Four Brute force minions Stage 2 and 24 Brute force minions Stage 1 followed the commander. Ten Technique variants guarded the intelligence variant minions. They were going to war for the first time, and it was a big city, the warriors would be skilled in combat. So, I placed them in a defensive position, but during the battle, they would also aid in our victory.
Behind the Brute force and intelligence variants were 120 warrior minions in each group. The remaining 10 Brute force minions, 5 Technique variants, and 50 warrior minions were with me to protect me and guard against any unexpected attacks.
Between the 120 warrior minions and Brute force minions were 70 archers assigned to each group. 70 swordsplay minions were at the rear of the group, serving as the last line of defense. Each minion group was assigned their tasks, and the Brute force minions had the job of putting the enemy off their feet. Once that was done, the other tasks would be carried out by the warrior minions.
The archers were ordered to retreat to the rear if they weren't needed during the battle. Archers were most effective in long-range battles, and we knew that the enemy was approaching from a distance. Each archer was provided a shield to protect themselves from the enemy's attack.
We had to attack before they opened the gate, so they would be preoccupied with the army outside while the gate was opened. We received the signal and I ordered the attack. All the magic minions were at the back with me, as they weren't needed for the type of attack we were initiating. They would be more useful in the initial stages of the battle.
I lined up all 30 flame throwers near the wall, each with a warrior minion who had a shield to protect them from enemy archers. Once in position, I ordered them to attack. The night was turned into day as all 30 flame thrower minions attacked the archers on the wall. The light was brighter than the sun could ever produce. I was at a safe distance from the wall and minions, but I could still feel the warmth of the fire.
Before the enemy could react, the "Silent Killers" opened the door from inside. The door opened slowly and my army entered the city. One group entered the city followed by the second one. They entered the sleeping soldiers' barracks and started killing them. They weren't prepared for such a quick attack, the king hadn't planned for an attack from every corner of the city. Two of my battle groups were inside when the alarm bells began to ring.
Uh oh.
I guess I'll have to deal with that.
[William~ you haven't forgotten about it, right?]
