Chapter 138.2 – Spring Has Come
After the farce came to an end, Qi Yang and Lu Qipei returned to their residence early.
Although King Wei’s interrogation today were full of loopholes, Qi Yang’s protection in front of the Emperor was still wholehearted, and it had completely broken the awkward gap between them.
Sitting on the carriage heading back to the mansion, Lu Qipei coughed lightly and said, “Thank you for protecting me today, Your Highness.”
Qi Yang felt uncomfortable when she heard this, and she frowned and turned her face away.
Anyways, the two of them had been married for several years. How could Lu Qipei not understand what Qi Yang was thinking? The corner of her lips was immediately raised. But afraid that Qi Yang would see it, she endured again and sneakily approached Qi Yang, and she didn’t see the latter running away.
Lu Qipei was completely relieved. She held Qi Yang’s hand in her palm and said in a soft voice, “Ah Ning, since you’re willing to speak up for me, then you’re not angry at me, right?”
Hearing this, Qi Yang felt a mix of emotions inside. She turned her head to look at Lu Qipei, but she became speechless for a while. Lu Qipei used to be calm and carefree, and at first, Qi Yang was the one who chased after her. But now, she had caused her to become so stiff and restless.
The more she thought about it, the more she felt guilty inside, and the more she became speechless as she looked at Lu Qipei.
Fortunately, Lu Qipei knew her best. As soon as she saw how Qi Yang looked, she immediately guessed what she was thinking. Seeing that Qi Yang still couldn’t let go, she simply leaned forward and took a rare initiative to kiss Qi Yang’s cold lips, saying, “If you won’t say anything, then I’ll take it as us having reconciled, alright?”
Qi Yang nodded lightly, and finally said in a low voice, “I’m sorry, I’ve been venting my anger these days.”
Two months ago, it was Lu Qipei who said she was sorry, because Qi Bo was involved in the Chaoyang Tower assassination. But now, the one who said sorry had change to Qi Yang, due to her anger and cowardice.
But really, how much were they even related to the whole matter? They were all innocent people who somehow got dragged into it.
Lu Qipei did not mean to blame Qi Yang, nor was she in a position to blame her for anything. She reached out, and took her lover into her embrace. The long-lost feeling filled her arms, and brought her empty heart back to reality. “Let’s not talk about this, and just have a good time, alright?”
Qi Yang buried her head in Lu Qipei’s arms, breathing in that familiar plum blossom fragrance, and her heart gradually calmed down. “Okay.”
Amidst the warmth and tenderness, the two of them returned all the way back to the princess’s mansion. The servants there clearly felt that the ice in the two’s relationship had been broken, and the atmosphere in the whole princess’s mansion became much more relaxed. Although no one dared to joke while the national mourning was not over yet, their footsteps became lighter.
During dinner, Lu Sheng was called over, and the three members of the family finally got together again for the first time after Shangyuan.
The child didn’t ask much about what had happened in the past two months, making the atmosphere in the mansion tense, and she also didn’t have the chance to meet the two of them. Maybe because she was neglected too much in her childhood, being neglected in the past two months had already made the cheerful dumpling much more restrained… When Lu Sheng saw the two of them with her rabbit in her arms, she didn’t know whether she should go forward and come closer.
Seeing her timid appearance, Qi Yang was somehow reminded of Lu Qipei when she brought her hot water this morning, and her heart was immediately filled with pity. She waved and beckoned Lu Sheng to come closer, then touched her little head and said, “Ah Sheng, don’t be afraid. Your Uncle and I have been too busy these past two months, and couldn’t take care of you, but it won’t happen again in the future.”
These words were meant for Lu Sheng, but it also served as a promise to Lu Qipei.
A smile flashed in Lu Qipei’s clear eyes, while Lu Sheng nodded to give Qi Yang face, “Your Highness and Uncle are busy, Ah Sheng will be obedient and won’t cause you any trouble.” As she said that, she stroked the rabbit’s little tail and said, “Ah Sheng has the rabbit to accompany her.”
Hearing this, Qi Yang looked at the rabbit and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. The final burden in her heart was lifted, and the gloom between her eyes disappeared.
The following meal went in a relaxed manner amidst Lu Sheng’s childish words. After dinner, Qi Yang took Lu Qipei and Lu Sheng out for a walk, but unfortunately, before they could go far, the rabbit in Lu Sheng’s arms jumped out and ran towards the grass to eat.
Lu Sheng stopped walking and squatted beside the rabbit to watch it eat grass. She looked up and said to the two of them, “The rabbit is hungry.”
In Spring, everything came back to life, and a lot of weeds grew in the princess’s mansion’s garden. Usually, these weeds would be removed by the gardener, but Lu Sheng’s rabbit loved to eat them, so they were left alone. Soon, the rabbit swelled up like it was going to blow up. It stopped eating carrots, and loved nothing more than to lie in the grass and eat all day long, being lazy and unrestrained.
Lu Sheng enjoyed watching the rabbit eat grass, but the two adults obviously didn’t share the hobby. The two of them stayed with Lu Sheng for a while, but when they saw the she wasn’t going to leave, they simply left her alone to play with the rabbit.
Qi Yang and Lu Qipei walked side by side on the garden path, watching the lush flower and vegetation in the courtyard.
Only then did they truly realize that spring had come.
