035 Spider Ring
After returning to his dorm, Wu Wei opened up all of the loot from Spider Lair.
There were many items, but not many that suited Wu Wei.
Wu Wei only chose to keep two items – or more accurately, two Runic Armaments for himself.
..
Runic Armament: Spider Boots
Quality: Uncommon
Level: 10
Usage Condition: Level 10
Additional Skill: Wall Climbing (Upon activation, allows the user to walk on walls for 5 minutes. Can be used once a day.)
..
Runic Armament: Spider Ring
Quality: Rare
Level: 10
Condition: Level 10
Bonus Effect: Increases the user’s Spirit by 1.
Additional Skill: Spider-Sense (Upon activation, the user can sense everything happening without a 100-meter radius. It can be activated 3 times a day.)
Passive Effect: You will be warned when danger is imminent 3 times a day.
..
Both Runic Armaments were Skill-type Runic Armaments – as the name implied, they had skills that the user could use.
Although Wu Wei had been hoping for more, he was still content.
He gave the boots to Yellow. After all, Yellow was now the absolute main force of his team. Giving him the best was the top priority.
As for the ring, Wu Wei originally wanted to give it to the Golem Doll. After all, it would increase its Spirit stat by 1 point.
Hence, it would allow it to use [Earth Manipulation] better.
However, the most important thing about this ring was the passive effect, [Spider Sense]. Since the Golem Doll was slow and would not be able to make full use of the warning effect, Wu Wei chose to wear it himself.
The moment he put on the Spider Ring, Wu Wei felt a mysterious power flow from the ring into his body, causing his mind to suddenly become clear.
It was the effect of the Spirit boost.
Wu Wei was highly pleased by the item’s effect.
“Let’s carry on. This time, we must find the Golem monsters to rank Golem Doll!”
Invigorated by the ring’s effect, Wu Wei again headed back to Runic World.
..
Meanwhile, in a certain pitch-black hidden room.
Two people who could not see each other in the darkness were having a secret conversation.
“How is it? Can I leave now?”
The person on the left was a little anxious and asked the question he was most concerned about.
The person on the right replied calmly: “Unfortunately, the data from this experiment is not enough, so you can’t leave yet. You have to do it again!”
“Do it again?!”
The person on the left suddenly became agitated. However, he quickly lowered his voice as if remembering his place.
“Are you asking me to die? Those guys at Yuehua are already on alert. They must be taking the matter seriously now. It is too dangerous now.”
“That has nothing to do with me. I have already given the order. Now, it is up to you to follow it.”
After saying that, the person on the right vanished.
The person on the left was left dumbfounded.
“F*ck…”
..
Runic World. Labyrinth of Caves.
After returning to the labyrinth, Wu Wei’s exploration started out smoothly.
After coming out of Spider Lair, he walked for several hours without encountering any problematic Runic Monsters.
Yellow was able to deal with all of them quickly.
The level of danger had drastically decreased compared to before.
Unfortunately, the quality of drops had also gone down proportionally.
A few hours of exploration yielded only three common drops, and none were noteworthy. Wu Wei estimated that they weren’t even worth 5 Runic Stones.
Besides the decrease in profits, the problem that was giving Wu Wei a headache was that he started to feel like he had become lost.
It felt as though they had been walking in circles for hours.
Wu Wei pointed to a protruding rock in the ground and asked Yellow, “Have we passed by before?”
“F**ker, d-”
“If you say ‘f**ker* or ‘die’ again, I’ll murder your ass. Understand? If repeating the same line is all you can say, then change it, f**ker.”
Yellow appeared to be stunned. After a moment of silence, he carefully tried: “Change… it… f**ker?”
Wu Wei instantly snapped and grabbed Yellow as if he were going to beat him up.
Of course, he did not. He just wanted to vent his frustration.
Wu Wei began to compose himself.
“I had originally thought that the compass would be useful in these caves, but I was being naïve.”
“In these winding tunnels, unless I walk straight, the compass is completely useless…”
“Wait!”
Wu Wei suddenly had an idea.
“Why don’t I simply walk in a straight line?”
“Yes, I’m lost because I’m not walking in a straight line, so the compass is not to blame. If I walk in a straight line, won’t I be able to use it?”
Since Wu Wei could not figure out why he was lost, he decided he would give it a shot. It did seem like a sound plan, after all.
“Since Golem has mastered the Earth Manipulation skill, it shouldn’t be a problem to open a straight path, right?”
“Let’s give it a try!”
Having made up his mind, Wu Wei called out Golem and ordered it to use Earth Manipulation to ‘excavate’ a path northward.
Wu Wei decided to head north because the entrance to the small maze cave was in the South, so the North should be where the depths of the labyrinth were.
Golem was indeed able to ‘excavate’ a path as Wu Wei envisioned. It was only a matter of spiritual energy, after all.
However, although the walls of the caves here were composed of soil, rocks were embedded within. Furthermore, the soil itself was compact, so it was not an effortless task.
After half an hour of hard work, Golem could only open up a passage of 5 meters – and it had used up all of its spiritual energy.
Although Wu Wei could replenish its energy fully with a [Runic Spirit Pill], the plan started to feel like it would be too expensive to continue.
“Hmm… what about downwards? I remember that Labyrinth of Caves consists of several levels. Maybe there aren’t any golems on the first level. The second level might have a better chance.”
Wu Wei clapped his hands.
“I guess I’ll do just that!”
He then instructed Golem to begin excavating downwards.
Soon, Golem had dug a hole in the ground.
Wu Wei noticed that the ground seemed easier to dig than the cave walls. One Runic Spirit Pill allowed Golem to dig about 6 meters. Wu Wei expended three to have Golem dig 18 meters.
However, even after 18 meters, it still seemed they weren’t close yet.
“Is it a location problem? Maybe a different spot will be better? Golem, move slightly to your left!”
The Golem Doll obediently shifted and began to dig.
In answer to Wu Wei’s prayers, a light appeared to shine from within the new hole that Golem was digging.
Wu Wei became excited.
“There’s light!”
But very quickly, Wu Wei realized something was wrong.
“No, why would there be light?”
Suddenly, Wu Wei heard a shriek.
At the same time, a fireball hit Golem from out of nowhere.
Poor Golem Doll was blasted to smithereens.
