Chapter 30: Famous Actress Yui
The next morning Yuuki came to school a little earlier than usual and was staring at his phone alone in his seat.
After yesterday’s exchange, Mizuna suddenly started recommending various manga and anime…
And in all of them, the sister character was a big influence in the story.
Thinking back, the anime movie I saw yesterday was also a rom-com with a sister-in-law.
Mizuna sent me the URL on LINE and said that I could read the original manga on the internet as well.
It was a complete change to what she’s been saying so far. She’s desperately trying to drag me to her side.
When I was looking at my cell phone, searching the internet for the words ‘I Left My Sister’ and ‘I Left My Brother’ I heard a sound of a bag being hardly put down on the desk right next to me.
When I looked up to see what was going on, I saw Yui, who seemed to have just arrived at school, standing there with a very pensive expression on her face.
She continued to pull the chair vigorously with her hand, but almost knocked it over.
(What are you doing…?)
After blushing slightly and clearing her throat, Yui sat down as if nothing had happened.
While watching her odd behavior, Yui was glaring at me as if to say that it was my fault. [T/N: Because it is.]
“…What?”
“You had fun yesterday, didn’t you?”
Come to think of it, I forgot that we parted ways with Yui yesterday only at the station.
I thought we had solved the problem after hearing the story from Mizuna, but she seems to still be misunderstanding the situation.
“You have a cute girlfriend~… I didn’t know that~….”
“No, that’s not my girlfriend.”
“Then who was she?”
“My sister.”
When I said that, Yui bluntly said for a moment, “Hmm?” and gave me a frank look.
“They don’t think so, do they?”
“I don’t think so, but she’s my sister.”
“It must have been nice to have a date with your sweet sister.”
It’s a bit of a poke in the eye, but the idea that it was a date is absolutely ridiculous.
If ‘date’ was written in Japanese, it wouldn’t mean ‘care’, would it?
“No, but really, it’s getting to be a joke. She said something stupid about her brother being her boyfriend or something.”
“Ueh! That’s…”
Yui let out a weird voice.
Well, if I said that, of course she would be weirded out.
“Just because I don’t have a girlfriend, Mizuna gets carried away by saying that she can be my girlfriend. Even though she doesn’t have any friends.”
I couldn’t help but complain.
Yui listened to my story for a while, which seemed unusual, but when he finished, she nodded with an impressed look on her face, saying, “Fu~n…”
“That’s refreshing.”
“What?”
“You getting angry like that, Yuuki-kun. But it’s nice. I feel like you take care of your sister.”
“No, I’m not angry, I’m just troubled… she said that if I get a girlfriend, she’ll get a friend too, but I’m not sure what to do.”
“H-heh~…. sh-she’s… she’s right…”
“Yeah. That being said, this isn’t the same as making friends, and I don’t think it’s something you have to force yourself to do.”
“F-fuuu. But… don’t you think you’d like to have a girlfriend…?”
“I’m not really bothered by the absence of one. Well, it might be a way to keep my sister quiet.”
Since Yuuki himself was used to it, he could handle her all by himself rather well.
Rather, it might be more troublesome to get together with someone.
When Yuuki smiled with a difficult face, Yui, who had been glancing around, said,
“T-to tell you the truth, my sister has been nagging me about getting a boyfriend too…”
“Wow, that sounds like a pain. We both have it tough.”
“Y-yeah.”
That topic was over. Yui silently began to sort things out in her bag.
A while after that, Yui suddenly turned her body toward me.
“Listen, you know. I think I’ve got a great idea.”
“What?”
“Just listen for a bit.”
After saying that, Yui looked around for a bit, then gingerly leaned out of her chair and whispered into Yuuki’s ear.
“….Do you want me to pretend to be your girlfriend?”
After saying that much, Yui quickly returned to her original position.
Then she finally smiles at me and I couldn’t help but ask back.
“…What?”
“So, you know, only in front of your sister, I’ll be your fake girlfriend.”
“…What are you talking about? You can’t do that.”
“Why? It’s a good idea, right? That way, your sister wouldn’t say anything weird. Besides, you said she’d be able to make a friend if you get a girlfriend, right, Yuuki-kun?”
“That’s true but… Why would Yui go to such lengths in the first place?”
I wondered what to say.
I didn’t think there was any benefit for Yui in doing that. I’m sure she’s planning something again, but…
When I asked her back, as expected, Yui began to get distraught, as if she got the short end of the stick.
“W-why.. Ah, I’m just… for Mizuna-chan? I’m worried. Mostly because her brother has been doing this for a while now.”
“No, I have two friends. No joke, Mizuna has zero.”
“What’s with that low-level fight. Why does that make you sound like you’re okay with that?”
She was cool about it. You didn’t include me in that one, did you? Also.
Like with Mizuna, ‘Just two friends isn’t enough’.
“or is it.. that? Are are~… Yuuki-kun… are you perhaps scared~? Or maybe… maybe you’re pretending that you don’t want me to be your girlfriend~…?
And she had a desperate grin.
It seems to be that way after all. Like Mizuna, this one is also a problem.
It doesn’t seem to be a good idea to make Yui my fake girlfriend, it sounded like something out of a manga or anime.
But she’s also in a state of mental instability… That’s why Yuuki thought that he had to accept it gently and not deny it.
“I can’t help it when it comes to you, Yui…”
“What’s with that pitying gaze.”
“All right, all right. I know what you want me to do.”
“Why does it sound like I’m being selfish?”
“Not at all~. You’re so sweet~.”
“Oh? I’m gonna punch you in the face.”
When I saw that Yui was about to take out the power stone from before, I quickly gave her a smile to calm her down.
This technique is very tiring, but the effect is immediate, and after looking a bit angry, Yui said, “Then it’s settled,” and ended up in a good mood.
(I’m tired of dealing with both of them at the same time.)
It might become a problem because I didn’t know what was going to happen.
But, well, it wouldn’t be much of a problem if it’s only in front of Mizuna that she acts like my girlfriend.
It’s just a matter of time before Yui feels better.

After school, Yui would come to Yuuki’s house to let Mizuna know as soon as possible.
The only time she would act like his girlfriend was in front of Mizuna, so they left the classroom separately and met in front of a convenience store a short distance away from the school.
“Hey, there you are…”
I noticed that Yui, who came a little late, was acting a little strange.
She kept breathing in and out and held her hands to her chest.
“…What’s wrong?”
“I-I’m just a bit nervous…”
You’ve been flippantly trying to make me fall in love with you, but when I came down to it, you started to shy away from it. I was the one who was really scared of the situation.
I really don’t know what’s going on. There were signs of double personalities. What a sad child.
Yuuki tried to calm Yui down for now, and took her arm.
“Here. I’ll hold your hand.”
“Ah, um… why are you holding my hand!?”
“We’re going to have to pretend to be dating from now on.”
“O-oh, I see…”
Yuuki retook the hand that was about to be shaken off.
Yui’s hand seemed to be stiff, but eventually, as if in contemplation, she slowly squeezed it back.
It’s moist and soft.
“You have beautiful hands.”
“Y-yeah… Y-Yuuki-kun, you have long, pretty fingers…”
“Yeah?”
After glancing at their hands, Yuuki looked at Yui’s face again.
Then, he noticed that Yui’s face was immediately dyed red.
“Oh, it’s like we just started dating. What a good act.”
“Well, yeah. Right? Right?”
“You’re even making a strange face, huh.”
“Yep. I’m an actress, an actress.”
I’m sure that if I were in her shoes, I would be found out immediately.
I thought so, and thought that I might be able to pull this off.
