Nathan peeked out the door. He saw no one.
The long corridor to the end was completely empty.
"Is this place rarely guarded?" Nathan turned to Linda.
The girl approached him and took his hand. She smiled. "I never noticed anything. I don't really care."
"Okay."
"My Prince, come on. I want to go with you."
Nathan nodded, and he took Linda slowly out of the cell.
They walked silently to the end of the corridor.
"Nathan, the guards will come soon." Marco said.
Linda looked at Nathan with confusion. "What's wrong?"
"Fang, please...." Nathan said.
A ball of shadow appeared near them, running in a circle, and after that, the figure of a huge black wolf with piercing red eyes appeared.
Fang walked over to Nathan.
"So you are the Prince on a Dark Wolf? I thought that you're only a legend."
Nathan turned to Linda. "Linda, stay alert. If anyone comes, quickly find a place to hide, and don't make any movement. Don't make any sound either. The cloak will protect you."
"Alright my Prince." Linda nodded.
Nathan turned to Fang. "Fang, you have to keep a watch out. Let me know if there are guards coming in."
"Woof... woof..." Fang growled.
Fang activated its stealth skill and ran away to the end of the hall, then up the stairs.
Nathan turned back to Linda, took her hand, and guided her.
They ran quickly up the stairs. "Come on, Linda.".
They were already in basement 4.
The footsteps of several people echoed through the corridor.
"We'll wait here until they pass."
Cold sweat was pouring down on his face.
"They will go to Linda's cell and make sure if she is still there. You guys need to leave quickly. There should only be two guards working over there. Edna and Muramoto will act immediately if an emergency occurs." Marco said.
Nathan nodded.
When the footsteps of the guards came closer, Nathan turned around and signaled Linda to stand guard.
A couple of guards ran up to them.
One guard took out his spear. "There are intruders, close all exits immediately. Make sure no one gets out of this place."
Nathan and Linda stayed where they were even as the guards were running toward them.
Nathan's heart was beating really fast.
He had activated his camouflage, and so had Linda who was wearing his cloak. However, he did not know whether the guards would find them.
Nathan turned to Linda and whispered. "Stay calm."
One of the guards came closer.
"Mr. Guard, I saw an intruder coming here a while ago." A girl's soft voice sounded from within the cell.
"Ignore her." one guard said.
"I saw him run into basement 5. He was about to save someone. Better close the exit from that floor immediately. Mr. Guard, please, I need a friend. Release me."
Nathan turned his head towards the cell where the girl he had previously met was.
Several guards ran right in front of Nathan. He tried to hold his breath firmly.
The corridor has dim lighting. Therefore, it is sufficient for him to optimize his camouflage skill.
He had to wait until everyone had left before Linda could move again.
However, the guards were looking around him.
"Linda is missing!!!" Close all exits from this basement to the top floor." One guard ordered.
Another guard nodded.
Nathan took a deep breath.
"Nathan, sorry, there shouldn't be this many of them." Marco said.
The girl in the cell was smiling. "I haven't even told you my name yet. My name is Polly. Please save me. I will help you get out of here."
Nathan was stunned.
"Shut up, bitch!" The guard yelled.
"It's not true! Please let me go. I'll help you." Polly pleaded.
The guards were confused. They stared at each other, but no one moved.
"Nathan, those guards are on average only level 60. With your optimal ability, you should be able to fight them. Win-win solution, you will reach level 50 in no time." Marco said.
There were two people in the 5th basement and five people in the 4th basement. Who knows how many people were upstairs?
"Nathan, listen to me. Kill them and get out of there quickly. Edna and Muramoto will make a scene outside and lure them out. But I'll leave the decision entirely to you, Master."
"Marco, you asshole."
Nathan turned to Linda. "Linda, please go with Fang, and get out of this place as soon as possible. Hide as much as possible if you run into anyone. I will follow soon. Okay?"
Nathan turned around and exited his camouflage.
"What a bitch!" Two guards held their spears, and they were ready to attack. "I found the intruder!"
Nathan raised his right arm and took a deep breath. His blood pumped through his veins quickly.
Fang stood beside him, growling loudly.
The two guards attacked. First, they thrust their spears at Nathan, aiming at his chest. Nathan dodged both of the attacks smoothly and blocked the next one. He followed by slashing at both of the guards' thighs. Blood spurted out, and the guards fell down on the ground. Nathan kicked them down.
He was breathing heavily. "How can you stay calm when I'm in a situation like this, Marco?"
"Don't worry, Master. You're always calm in dangerous situations. Don't forget that you're the main character here." Marco said.
The guards got up, but Nathan had already jumped forward and stabbed the nearest guard with his sword. He then punched the second guard in the face, breaking his nose.
He quickly scanned the corridor and checked the stairs leading to the top floor.
Two guards were coming from the lower and the other five from the upper stairs.
Nathan walked toward them, and his footsteps made a loud clanking noise.
"How many of them do I need to kill to reach level 50?" Nathan said.
"20, I guess?" Marco replied.
Nathan stood, holding his sword. The two guards he had fought previously with had also woken up. Over 10 people surrounded him from all directions.
"Please help me..... Help me....." a mature woman screamed shrilly from one cell.
"Help me....Help me...." another prisoner shouted loudly too.
Nathan couldn't be careless about fighting in that place. Linda was still with him, and if there was even the slightest physical touch on her, her stealth skill would be canceled.
"Who are you that dares to enter this place? Marco? I don't think so. That boy is too cowardly to even get close to the basement door." One guard said.
"Kill that bitch, Nathan." Marco said.
Everyone in the cell started making noise and banging on the iron door. They shouted for them to be released.
"Silence!" a guard said.
"I'm not a child." Polly said. "I'm a survivor. I'm a girl who has suffered in this hell for a long time now."
The guards were silent, and they were staring at Polly.
"Yes, I am." Polly said. "I'm not some stupid little brat like you guys. I'm a girl who can fight against you. So please release me, and let me go." Polly said.
The guards stared at Nathan.
"Do you have a death wish?" One guard asked him.
"No, not at all." Polly shook her head. "But I'm a girl who wants to live. And I want to die peacefully. Please release me." Polly pleaded.
Nathan was standing. He was ready for whatever he was going to face.
"Berserker Form!" Nathan muttered under his breath. After that, his muscles enlarged, and his hair grew longer.
Nathan stared with his red, piercing eyes. He ground his teeth.
[Nathan Gardner]
[Berserker Form Tier 1]
His strength had increased significantly.
All the guards were startled.
"Take his hands and feet, cripple him enough to no longer be able to move."
One guard stepped forward.
"I don't want to escalate the situation by committing murder. If I spill even a little blood, it will mean war." Nathan said, whispering.
Marco was silent for a moment, then said. "Do you have another choice, Nathan?"
"My friend, save me. I'll help you kill them. All I want is for me to be set free." Polly said, shouting from inside the cell.
Fang walked slowly beside Nathan. It bent its body and was ready to attack whenever ordered.
Fang growled, showing its teeth.
"The Guardian of the Moon." Nathan raised his right hand. And flashing out of thin air, a black armored figure wielding a gigantic sword.
The guard was surprised.
"Guardian of the Moon? Where did this man come from?" The guard trembled.
A shrill scream filled the corridor.
Nathan had blocked the spear aimed at his chest with the sword.
"Fang, take care of Linda, Golem! Fight everyone, brutally!"
The golem dashed forward at breakneck speed, throwing slashes with its blade wildly wherever its opponent was.
CLANG!
CLANG!
Clashes of sharp weapons occurred repeatedly.
