Chapter 92 92 - Crystals

The portal appeared and disappeared in an instant, leaving only the pool of blood on the floor. Another arrow shot through the wall, but this time Ryan got up as fast as he could and held the projectile in place. The metal of the blade ripped part of his hand, but with this he managed to save Nivia's life.

Looking down at his bloodied hand, Ryan sighed "You need to be a little more smarter ice spirit". The creature seemed to understand what he said, and then started its own head as if agreeing.

"Let's go the other way. The traps are still recognizing us" Kodiak said as he pointed with his hand to the other door.

Damian followed with his shield ahead as Ruri's spirits completely destroyed the floor and broke the protective enchantments. "I rogue would help a lot now" Nivia said with a tired tone. Everyone agreed with the statement.

'Nyx, can you go ahead and check the area?'

So the succubus made her way down the hallway and was touching all the walls. Only Ryan could observe what was happening, that girl was flying all over the place, feeling the flow of mana in the room. <I found the sensors, there is a path you just need to follow me>

Then Ryan stepped forward in front of the group "I was able to recognize the mana flow. Follow me." The group was a bit nervous so waiting for him to follow through with the plan, Ruri and Kodiak were with pained faces, while Nivia looked uncomfortable with the advance. The only one who was happy with Ryan's idea was Damian, who had a big smile on his face and was waiting for an arrow to shoot through his colleague's head.

Stepping forward, nothing happened. Then Nyx took another step forward and Ryan followed suit, and before long he was able to advance halfway down the hall. "The mana flow follows to a battery crystal. Follow me and wait here, I'll deactivate the traps." Slowly, Kodiak followed Ryan's path and soon everyone was in the middle of the gigantic main hall.

That room was cold and had a stone floor with details of crystals and ice everywhere. Surprisingly, the room was much brighter than any of the rooms they had passed, in the center of the hall was a brown carpet with details written in an ancient dwarven language. A staircase led up to a golden throne that stood in front of a giant wall of black crystals, on either side of the throne were two doors leading to rooms filled with magical dwarven boxes.

<The battery is in the room on the right, you just need to go there and overcharge the battery. That should be enough to make most of the traps in the dungeon deactivated>

Cautiously following Nyx's footsteps, he finally managed to advance up the steps of the throne and reach the room. It was a slightly larger area than the previous two rooms, and a number of levers and toolboxes could be seen at the entrance. Crouching down and placing both hands on the floor, Ryan channeled as much mana as he possessed.

<Come here> Nyx said, as she gently pulled his face. With an intense kiss, the two began to swirl their hot tongues in the middle of that cold room, a sudden energy surged as they exchanged saliva.

The succubus was sucking the demonic energy from Ryan, turning it into pure mana and returning it back to him. The young man's mana was low, so the recharge came just in time. Ryan's strength increased as the energy flowing from his hands intensified.

All around, Ryan's mana was burning up the magic circuits, invalidating the circles and causing the traps to be deactivated. Suddenly, the entire dungeon began to glow with an intense red light, as if the building itself was responding to this situation. But soon, that light was gone.

Shouting from inside the room Ryan said excitedly "I think I did it!". At the same instant Damian came running out of the room "Look out you idiot!" Kodiak shouted, extending one of his arms. But nothing had happened, none of the traps were activated.

Nivia continued walking toward the throne, "I guess the traps really have stopped working." Even with uncertainty, Ruri and Kodiak moved forward with cautious steps, as they obersed all sides of that dungeon. Behind the throne, the group got a frightening sight, on the other side of the wall of black crystals was an underground canyon of dwarves. The place was infested with Goblins and Ice Orcs, those creatures had taken advantage of that place as a base, some of the larger monsters were carrying high-end dwarven swords and armor, while the smaller ones held pickaxes as they walked back and forth.

"So the Boss of this dungeon is a High Orc..." Livia said, crossing her arms. But Ryan was a bit more pessimistic "Goblins and Orcs are not that organized... They must be led by some more intelligent monster." Damian closed his eyes as if he was having trouble understanding what they were talking about "But what more intelligent monster could command these creatures?"

Kodiak was watching the room intently, while everyone else was staring into the glass, the druid was trying to understand how many years had passed since the dwarves had left this dungeon. Turning to the group, he answered the Tank "A Litch, or a lower ice sovereign... Maybe even a higher one. That would explain the dwarves' exit, they didn't take anything, it was a quick escape." The group exchanged worried glances, the possibility of having to face a conscious undead was terrifying to most.

'I can't stand having to fight these undead anymore'

The sound of a siren began to echo through the room, at the same instant the travelers turned in a defensive position. Damian extended his shield while Kodiak and the two casters activated their spells, Ryan withdrew his pistols and aimed for the two doors. The sound of the alarm suddenly disappeared, leaving an awkward and uncomfortable silence.

* Krek * Crak * Vrwuuushh *

The walls that made up that hall were slowly breaking down, and on each side, more than ten crystal monsters came out walking towards the group. They were sentinels, on top of the monsters' heads was a single red crystal, a core that illuminated the rest of the bluish body of those puppets.

"Damn it..." Kodiak said, as he transformed into bear form.

Ruri pulled out the rest of the masks that were in her bag "I still have three fire elementals," Nivia nodded "I'll take care of the healing, I still have plenty of mana." Damian drew his sword and began to slowly advance with his shield, until he was in front of the group.

But flying above those travelers was an extremely excited white-haired succubus. The girl's eyes were shining at that sight, with a gigantic smile on her face, she shouted with happiness.

<LETS FUCKING GO! RYAN WE GOT A JACKPOT!>

'Wait, what?'

The succubus then reached down and grabbed a box from Ryan's hand. "What the fuck is going on?" Damian said. The group was confused as they watched that golden box fly out of Ryan's hand and float across the room, the box then began to glow with a blue light as it hit the forehead of each of the twenty sentinels.

After the box hit the monster, the creature's forehead would flash between red and blue light. Until the creature fell to the ground, kneeling. The process was repeated by all the sentries, while the group watched with a suspicious and confused face.

'What are you doing?'

<These thingies are dwarf puppets, they are quite expensive>

'So you are setting them up in the box...'

<Exactly!

Then that box floated back to Ryan's hand. The succubus Nyx then, with a gigantic smile began to talk non-stop into the boy's ears <You just need to spin this crystal from the center and channel your mana, the commands are all in an ancient dwarven language. But just say something like 'Hakdaros' and 'Krundavdir' and these bugs will start following you.

Kodiak, Ruri, Nivia and Damian were watching Ryan intently as he shook his own head. He was letting out little sounds like "Hmmm.... Humm..." and "I see..." one after the other.

Then, the twenty crystal sentinels stood up and formed a row.

"There, they're mine now" Ryan said as he walked down the stairs past Damian.

"What the fuck?" The tank exclaimed. "Are you kidding?" Kodiak said, confused.

With a smile on his face, Ryan turned around in front of the four travelers, behind him were the giant crystal warriors. Those monsters then knelt down in a line, bowing their heads to him. Turning his face to those creatures, he said "Arise".
